Who cares if it doesnt look like a regular car....so???? My 97' Taurus is STILL running and I know someone with an 86' Taurus...still going strong. I guess nowadays its about the "looks" rather than how it works. I could care less how a car looks, long as it runs like it should, then who cares.
It was a really unusual design at the time, too weird for some people at the time. I think it's good looking, maybe a little too round in some places, but still pretty good looking.
Is it a coincidence that at the end it's parked next to a lake? Because if you turned it upside down and tossed an outboard on the back it'd make a great boat.
fuck what happen to ford thiz generation is so ugly all the cars form this generation form 96 to 99 were ugly i think they look like a big fish .. i love the 92 to 95 tyle. and the new 2011 ford taurus sho it is so nice!!!
these cars last forever....Ford was smart when they made these. Theyre like tanks haha and me and several of my friends all have the same model from 1996-1999 and they still all work perfect and run amazing. only had to do the typical oil changes, tire replacements, and brake pad changes and thats it. Gotta love the Taurus :)
They used to be real pieces of shit but now they have improved along with the whole company of Ford. The new Taurus actually looks good and is well built. They have come a long way and have almost caught up with Japanese cars. This is why they are the only American company not riding Obama's cock to get free money.
My Uncle used to have a 1996 Ford Tauraus. It was his company car. I remember that my sister, cousin and myself always used to refer to it as his "bug car" because thats what it looked like to us then.
Does YouTube have the '96 Taurus commercial that has the complete jingle? "Taurus, making the dream come true" is the closing part.
I remember the full jingle starts like this: "It's just like a dream you can hold in your hand, Taurus stole your heart once, it'll steal it again..."
I liked this design. I belive 96-99, and 00-07had the best design. Mechanically speaking, 2000-2007 was the best. 86-95 had stering problems, 96-99 had transimision problems, and 08-present just doesn't feel like a taurus.

some white asshole with a shaved head flipped me off in a 1996-2003 ford taurus today. he had an ugly ass big brown dog, with no fucking fur in the back seat. driving one of those fucking white taurus's. he was making an illegal u-turn in the left hand lane as I was making a right turn. how the fuck am I supposed to know he was going to do that?
I cut him off obviously, which resulted in him going to the left of my car, honking, then flipping the bird. fuck you guys with Taurus's.

That was the ugliest Taurus ever. I remember people calling it the M&M car because of it's M&M like shape, but i don't think the Mars corp would have designed something that ugly.
I don't know if anybody has ever tried to explain to you, that you can NOT argue about a design. There is NO GOOD design and NO BAD design , because it is all about the personal taste
I don't know if anyone has explained to you what hypocrisy is, but you just did it. What did I express? Hmmm my views maybe, which seems to hypocrisies your statement. There is such a thing as bad design. When the car that was once 1st in 95 drops to 4th in 97 behind Toyota, Honda, Chevy, that's bad design, because if it wasn't then that car would be 1st or 2nd and still popular amongst buyers, in which this generation clearly wasn't. Dropping 1st to 4th in 14 months time is clearly bad design.
Oh well...you can't argue about personal taste. When f.ex BMW dropped a view positions...was that also because of bad design ? Every car, that looses positions...oh yeah right..its because of bad design...i would say its just a little limited horizon..there are so many reasons why a car drops positions in selling...
Ok, bad Design and cheaper parts. Ford cut back on the quality of the 3rd generation Taurus and those two combined were the cause of the 3rd generation Taurus demise. Even Ford addmitted they dropped the ball on the 3rd generation Taurus. and when you go to 1st to 4th in 14 months time for a car company that's horrible and even Ford additmeted tthat it was partly due to those two reasons.
Well..if the Taurus is that bad then I am wondering why the car has a lot less problems then a few so called premium european car makers. 127000 Miles without any major problems. And like I said before...Design is about personal taste..there is no law that tells you what design is good and which one is bad. And I personally don't give a lot on what other people think..my other car is a 2005 SAAB 9-3. Also not a best seller ...so what
The AX-4N automatics were famous for their transmission failures alone not to mention the electrical failures that came with these cars and these were the highest complaints about this generation taurus.
I also had transmission trouble. but that was almost it apart from one sensor that had to be changed. Compared to problems of other by far more expensive cars I'd say those are minors. And I took the car to Germany, because I moved there. Germany is well known for hosting the most picky and strict car expection of the world. My Taurus passed it with 126000 Miles without ANY problems. Passed emission control as well. There are folks who can treat a car right and others can't ...
I've always liked this Taurus. I've never understood why the American public reacted so negatively to it. I can't help but wonder if it would have been appreciated more in the European market.
The Taurus used to be regarded highly until Ford let it become nothing more than a rental car. Ford tried to sell the Taurus in Europe but it bombed big time.
The American public didn't like the style of the sleek and extremely curvy 1996 Taurus, according to many reports I've read. They much preferred the conventionally styled 92-95 Taurus and the Taurus was then overtaken by the (extremely dull) Toyota Camry as America's best selling car.
Obviously the US spec Taurus wouldn't sell well on the European market. However, if a car with this styling was released in Europe at the time, I'm sure it would have had a more positive reception than in America.
I just couldn't resist the futuristic look of the 1996 Ford Taurus. I got to get one by 1995, I thought! It was the best looking car on the road, never grew old even after 10 years. Elliptical forms inside and out; perfectly matching all over aerodynamic shape one piece design. I still think it is better looking than many cars on the road today!
The 1986 caught my love over; the 1996, so good, I just couldn't explain with more words!
I bought a 96 Taurus and a 98 Sable. Still running good!
These were awful looking!

Having a '' taurus '' is like coming out of the closet. People are a ''little shocked'' at first, but in the end you're still gay....
this is the result of red neck technology!!! i'm so proud!!! God Bless America.

The front lights are really odd and the back half slants downward. Plus, the rear window is a circle and the tail lights are really long.
PS It's fat.

The front of the Taurus looks like a Bull. Because. Taurus was named
after the second zodiac sign, which is the bull & scorpio, another zodiac sign
the Scorpion. Which are 2 cars were named after fixed introvert zodiac signs were named by Ford.

The 1st gen and 2nd gen Taurus were the best concerning quality and dependability
But Ford got amazing sales with those cars and started to built crap.
Thats why the Camry became the best selling car in 1997
