when I've fought larger guys in the past i just got in close and unloaded on them, now i would do the same but i would use my wing chun while doing so.
you are wrong. Reach, especially in wing chun, is an enormous advantage. 2 people of similar skill will result in the taller man exploiting his reach advantage and the only way to neutralise that in wing chun is experience, intelligence, and movement. When you say that you 'got in close' to 'unload' on them, you belittle the difficulty of that initial closing step.
It's amazing.. people get on this site and suddenly they think they know something.
Let me explain this, as with all martial arts the more you practice a technique the more if becomes ingrained in your instincts. The more it becomes ingrained the easier it is to utilize in a real situation.
Chin Na teaches that your movement should be alive and able to adapt to any situation.
the problem in here is that many big white guys feel insecure upon seeing this video because they can`t bear to be outmatched by smaller guys. chin na does work if properly used at the right moment.
chinna is about technique, then on too speed....trust me, most u nerds that be talk trash behind your computer screen.....these guys can throw u in a blink of an eye....check cungle....he is a prime example
see what you need to know is that once u know how to use your body wight i don't care if you 94 pounds a human body can only take so much on some part's of the body if a train master hit u with 94 pound's trust be the way i saw iron train u will pack your bag u are going 4 a trip
chin na is hard to apply if you have poor stepping-footwork because you have to enter your opponent's "gate". Also, without a commited "flow of energy" from your opponent, it's a mockery to apply chin-na. This video is good for academic demonstration.
not if you hit em first, in jujutsu we call it a distraction. he grabs your wrist or something, he's mind is there. you struggle then suddenly kick him in the shin, his mind is now on his shin for a split second, which (hopefully) is your opportunity to apply your chin na.
The big guy in this video could kill the little guy in a second, he is just being completely passive here. And that little guy could strike him 20 time in a row on the neck and it wouldn't knock him out (ofcourse a strike to the throat could do major damage).
Size means a lot. Size is another factor just like quickness, endurance, strength, and technique. When technique is equal or roughly equal, the bigger player will definitely win.
I think you would be uncomfortably surprised at how ridiculously strong little guys like that can be.
The little guy with a strong core will often topple a larger opponent especially if finger control, wrist locks, and neck strikes are used. It is very hard to strengthen the little joints and a blow to the neck is going to knock out pretty much anyone if not kill them.
it has little to do with strength anyway. he puts you in a weak position so you can only use maybe 30% of your strength. while he has 90 or 100% of his..even tho he's weaker than you, he still overcomes.
Size matters. I could tell the bigger guy could take him if wasn't cooperating and walking right into his moves. That little guy would have a hard time taking down a big competent figher now matter how good his technique is. You have to have some physical ability, he's small; weak and not really the athletic type, lol.
The reason this stuff works is because people like you are clueless.
This guy is a master; he can run circles around big "athletic" types because he has more "internal energy" (by controlling the flow of electricity and oxygen in his body) which is a proven physical phenomenon.
Ever seen a cougar fight a big brown bear? Little cougar stays on the advance, and bear can't get an opening. Bear (3 TO 4 TIMES the cougar's size) loses.
looks a little like intermediate tang lang quan practitioners.

100 fold and if you find me at the right place, time, and day you could beat me.
No disrespect to you sir
we just have very different views but i enjoy conversations like this none the less, especially from a fellow martial artist.

whats the difference between long distance and short distance in a fight?
one step now that one step could happen at anytime you're not gonna know when unless the person is very obvious and even the speed it's unpredictable.
now the way you're putting it you're saying that 2 men of the same skill, height, and weight will draw every time but thats just not true.
Many factors come into play in a fight whether it's the weather, gravel on the ground to a bird passing by.I could surpass your lvl of

Looks very similar to Japanese Aikido, and the same applies... nice for demonstration, but will go out of the window in an unscripted situation.
