@peterbutz It does belong to both of them, come on, as Garland brought this song to millions of people, she IS the only singer who made this song "the most beloved song on earth", anyway, Bassey's is another beauty
@peterbutz Actually, Bea Wain recorded it in 1939. But I think it's just a tad more identified with Miss Judy than with Miss Bea. Though I like both of them.
@peterbutz The song was written in 1938, true, but Judy Garland recorded the song originally and introduced it in ''The Wizard of Oz''. Bea Wain's version is a cover which is also very good.
this is from the rather under rated LP `Yesterdays` (1978) listen to `you made you love me` and the outakes `NatureBoy` & `MY MAN` not released until 1994.
I bought this album years ago. Judy Garland was already dead. I realized then that Shirley Bassey rightfully inherited this song. She is the only singer who ever did it justice - I don't know if anyone ever will again. Thanks for posting.
Beautiful rendition. Glad to find it this week. Bless her and the amazing Lena Horne! Props to the current true "divas" such as Shemeika Copeland and other young, beautiful women who bring glory to the true gift of song.

It is wonderful to see photos of Shirley Bassey in everyday life, offstage,
along with the other pictures. Both onstage and off, she is regal, elegant,
and glamourous.
