  • There once was a time when many considered Clapton & Hendrix the two best rock guitarists in the world. Compared to those days, this is totally lame. It doesn't even come close...

  • dick sims recently.. passed away... r i p

  • amazing! ALL of the band were from Tulsa! what a remarkable coincidence!

  • Van Halen is God Eric can chose his job

  • Who were the musicians on stage with Clapton he referred to as being from Oklahoma? Who was on piano? Was itLeon Russell?

  • @scottybroker yes, Leon, 2 or 3 others, including Jamie Oldaker (drummer).

  • @scottybroker I forgot to mention J.J. Cale, but he could have been there as well. Tulsa was quite the scene around that time. Clapton lived there awhile.

  • I wish I was born living in tulsa time.!

  • Yes sir. I like that Tulsa Sound and slowhand's slide guitar.

  • Clapton is God...

  • Very Drunk

  • I love this song

  • living on toast and wine lol

  • This is obviously good, but I prefer the original by Don Williams.

  • @ELVISHAGA I agree- I hate how he always rails against this period as if it holds nothing of merit. His live shows were fantastic, no doubt due to his awesome band!

  • The whole band is from Tulsa, Ok.

  • Dick Sims on piano

  • cant believe he can hide his thick, british accent and speak in a "Southern, Yankee" accent. lol

  • it's Chris Stainton on piano,British cat from the Mad Dogs and Englishmen tour with Joe Cocker and Clapton. He's not Leon Russel, but obviously was a fan .

  • Eric's cover version hit #30 in Billboard, 8-16-80. Thanx for postin' it. but, nobody does it better than the Gentle Giant, himself, Don Williams.

  • Great but give some respect to DON WILLIAMS!

  • That's not Leon Russell.

  • "...they are all from Tulser, and it is called Tulser Time."

    DUMB ENGLISH FUCK!

    ROFL!

SANG IT MR. ERIC CLAPTUNE - :^)

  • That is not leon - it's Dick sims.

  • I did time with the keyboardist, Dickie Sims from Tulsa, OK and that is one kool kat. An extremely talented guitarist & keyboard man, drummer & vocalist..... light years beyond most talented folks youd ever meet in this lifetime. Hell he only played w Clapton for 10 years

  • looks like 8 people have been jammed up in Tulsa.

Great Version....love Leon on the keys.

  • @medic357 yeah, drownin' in that River of Tears!

  • Is there a Danny Flowers version? The song reminds me so much of JJ Cale. Both Okies.Did they know each other?

  • Danny Flowers is from little Henderson, NC. Met his dad in 1984 at his funeral home, sadly, to bury my wife's 18 yr old brother who had been killed in a car wreck Dec 28, 1984. Mr. Flowers mentioned (I can't remember why) that his son had written Tulsa Time. I leaned over to my friend and said "Clapton covered that song". Mr. Flowers heard me and said "Yeah, Eric was over at the house not too long ago." What a shock ! At a funeral home in a hick town in North Carolina.

  • claptonism is the new religion

  • Tulsa time is a social reality for the folks from Tulsa.

  • eric clapton

  • did u kids ever hear of Tulsa?...how "bout Eric Clapton?

  • the kids don`t know what they are missing

  • Oh yeah for some reason was thinkin' bout this tune tonight and this is one of the best renditions out there.

  • And this guy once thought that he could not sing!

  • nice hell yea he did a damn good job on that claptons great and don williams is great woulda been awesome to see them do the song together...

  • i read erics book..and during this clip period he was fucked up on heroin, booze a real junkie...

now he has a constitution like a fucking ox..so does keef richards....

guys like belushi tried keeping up with them..but belushi was a amature....

what eric has done to himself should have killed him like 20 times over...

but those english blokes ...they are made of steel...

now he's been sober for decades i believe...God bless him....

eric is great....my fave guitar player....

  • i always love it when eric plays slide <3

  • clapton is god of music

  • Has anyone ever noticed that this song is the same song as "The Hokey Pokey"? I'm not kidding, try it and see.

  • The best rendition of the Danny Flowers song is by Don Williams. Eric Clapton has to S L O W his rendition down. Tulsa Time is S L O W, we are NOT in a hurry down here!!! My opinion...

  • it's so fine and easy just like when you take a shower, so f........ng good, like this song too much. does anybody have any clues on wich open tune is eric guitar? just watching it seems to be an open G tuning, thanks for replies if any, Claudio, and thank you for post this one!

  • @joyce55 open e tuning. only two chords -- starts on e, goes to b, and back to e.

  • TAPlastic...Bravo...you nailed it!

  • Clapton had this on his setlist, Don Williams played it as well, but,,,,,,,, It was written by Danny Flowers.

  • @mdsanford74 fool

  • WARNING! THIS IS NOT ERIC CLAPTON !!!! After the split of Cream and Blind Faith , Eric lost his creativity and took too much drugs. He disappeared behind closed doors of hospitals eventually and the record company desperately was looking for a double. They discovered the singing cowboy named Ceri Notplac, who acted in the B-Movie " Fuzzy the SLOW HAND gunman of Coffeyville". Ceri worked it well out and the public did not realise the fake, but to be honest:: That's not funny........

  • @progmeck1 I don't understand the joke.

  • @progmeck1 wow aand his name is so like erics too :-0

  • It all goes back to the slaves...sorry for all y'all. Country, blues, rock, r&b, etc... ALL OF IT! Goes back to Africa. And Yeah I'm white. Music wise, we owe it all to them. Sorry to bust anybody's "bubble" . Oh yeah...play nice.

  • @mdsanford74 Not quite. The Piano, Guitars, Horns etc are all of European origin. The musical notes written on paper are also a European design. The time signature too. In addition, the technology used to record and disseminate this music is European based. If you look at music in this way you might see a collaborative effort and that the music you mentioned did not come from just one source. BTW, you might want to check out the Irish influences on bluegrass and subsequent genres of music.

  • According to his biography, Eric Clapton told us he left the Yardbirds, bcause they played to much commercial songs. In my poinion : The most worse record of the Yardbirds is thousand times better, than this Country & Western SHIT !!!!!! What a shame.

  • @progmeck1 ure such a faggot dude.

  • @progmeck1: And I think the worst country song is a thousand times better than your guitar playing, you dumb kraut dipshit.

  • yes it must be played loud...and can't keep myself from singing along with it :-)

  • Awesome version!!!......Clapton makes this go!...The Great Leon Russell on piano!...PLAY...it...LOUD!

  • @49erBW That's Dick Sims on piano

  • @49erBW

    Dick Sims.

  • don williams version is great, but this is way better! clapton makes it his own.

  • This song is a 'one size fits all song like Route 66,they both take on different characteristics depending on the guitar/piano style and tempo.

I wonder how a Buddy Guy version would sound .

  • HOW CAN I SEE THIS ROLLING HOTEL MOVIE. ERIC CLAPTON AND HIS ROLLING HOTEL. anyone?

  • I like both versions

  • Slow hand Rules!

  • Nobody can do this song like Don Williams...but I must admit...this is pretty catchy

  • don mentony band - dobra mrha

excellent slovenian version of this song ;)

  • @18RooK97 res je

  • im in te tulsa! :D

  • dis song was wrote by da fine singer Perry O'Como, he be da kine___ ADM Yamamoto Colley, Hawaii's greatesty singster

  • Great Clip. I love Clapton's and Don WIlliam's version.

One thing about Clapton, I think he is an underrated slide player.

  • @PFB1994 I think your right, look at the duet with duane allman (mean old world) brilliant

  • Trust me. There ain't no place like Tulsa. Once you get out here there ain't no comin back. Was born and raised and will live here till the day I die.

  • CLAPTON'S VERSION IS BEST.

And since I'm (unfortunately) from the song's namesake, I can say that.

Though I did hear his recent performance sucked ass. It's strange because he lived in Tulsa for a few years in the 70's.

  • Check out Åsmund Åmli Band - Stomp og vatn . A very good coverversion from Norway of this song.

  • this makes me want salsa

  • clapton is good

  • Tulsa time was written by Danny Flowers. I just glad Clapton recorded it. Great song!

  • clapton is god

  • Decemt remdition of a Country classic

  • Check out Jason Boland's version!

  • saludos ecuador

  • Don Williams original version is more organic and real.

  • @borch1260 Eric's is more jolly.

  • Clapton, almeno ci sei tu, grazie!!

  • love the high harmony.

  • cool

  • @bigbry52 Clapton never talks to the audience much

he's not one to put on a big performance he just goes out there and plays like a mad mother fucker

  • I'm not judging the quality of Clapton's performance solely on whether or not he played Tulsa Time when he came here. Its more of the fact that he barely talked to us or acknowledged us as an audience and just played through his hits and then walked off the stage. ONE song for his freakin encore, ONE song? He should grab a clue from Roger Daltry who opened for him. THAT is how you entertain a crowd when you come to town!

  • I saw him here in Nashville a few weeks ago and the 'one song encore' thing really pissed me off. Everyone was screaming, cheering, and going to town but the lights came on and I've never heard the likes of booing. Vince Gill played with him on a couple of cuts from Unplugged and Eric didn't solo or anything when Vince was on. Vince is okay but I'm not really a fan. I really feel Eric kinda copped out. We'll always have Derek and the Dominos:Live at Fillmore East. That's the best live Eric imo.

  • @starqz might be getting old! Read his biog. He's not one for chit-chat on stage, unlike Pete Townsend etc.

  • Yeah Eric Clapton just came to Tulsa on Tuesday and he didn't even bother to PLAY this song for us! What a fuckhead.

  • do you think he's tuned to standard here? cause hes playing his low strings like he is, but he's playing slide too. maybe eadgbd? anyone know?

  • i don't know but this verison is bad ass!!!

  • its open G tuning

  • clapton is god

  • @youtellemandre ...yes, Eric is bod blues !!!...

  • @youtellemandre ...yes Eric is god blues !!!...

  • does he say Tulser, or Tulsa??

  • tulsa

  • He said "Tulsa" but his accent makes it sound like "Tulser".

  • the 70's clapton hell yeah

  • the best clapton.

  • Nice cover of a don Williams song, written by Don's guitarist, danny Flowers

  • I didn't know they where from Tulsa. Cool! I grew up on the Northside...you know the side of town that the movie The Outsiders made so popular lol...

  • Stevegaines, yeah, the drummer, 'Jamie Oldaker', I believe was from Tulsa. If I'm not mistaken... his brother was a classmate of mine at Patrick Henry Elementary back in the day.

  • It was the last song my guitar-teacher gave me the tab for...

He went into retirement on christmas, I'm depressed, I really liked him...

Hope the new teacher will have the same good taste when it comes to music...

  • Carl Radle the bass player and a couple of more guys were from Tulsa, Oklahoma..

  • He's drunk, and good

  • I didnt know, that eric can play the slide dude^

  • I think he has it set-up for a slide tuning. He kept Blackie and Brownie in standard I think. I forget where I read that.

  • never seen hes using large heads strato!!

  • His band was from Tulsa??? Cool!!!

  • @templeofcoy Carl Radle the bass player who was in Derek and The Dominoes and who toured with Clapton was from Tulsa as were a couple of the other guys...

  • Nice bottleneck guitar solos!!!

  • Clapton loved me to play the blues I love him and god bless him ..

  • clapton i love him but he aint no singer

  • are you tripping?

  • kopfile74 Is this a joke Clapton can't sing ?

  • hahahah "toulser" time

  • Haha i love that, Toulser!!!!!

  • i know right have you heard him say layla or "lalur"

  • Haha god!!!! Really? Lalur?? wow

  • Yeah if you look at some of the interview from the 80's he says it a lot it's the British accent

hell of a guitar player though

  • Don Williams. got to love him. he aint scared cause he was washed in the blood! Mr. Clapton did it very well.

  • Great bar song

  • I am not usually a fan of live recordings but for some reason I like Eric Clapton's live recordings better than his studio stuff. I love Just One Night, thats gotta be my all time favorite Clapton album.

  • Totally agree with Brad. Im not fan of live recordings....but my favorite Clapton disc is JUST ONE NIGHT. Live from Japan. Great disc..with this song as opener.

  • Shakey, wow I didn't know that was recorded in Japan. Very few music groups can do as good if not better with a live recording. But I think Clapton is one of those guys. Actually, now that I think about it, it seems like most of the ones that come to mind with me that are better on a live album vs. studio album are the guitar greats. Clapton, Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughn, The Almonds and George Thorogood all seemed to be as good if not better in live recordings, to name a few.

  • the almonds? lol

  • Ha Ha... yeah I fucked up.

  • this is on the crossroads 2 album which is one of the best

  • Eric stoned out of his mind. Playin the best he could. Booze all over.

  • I live on tulsa :D

  • music shuffles on like the admiral twin drive inn, and fire work stands on pine. The beat that keeps carryin me, and home sweet oklahoma on my mind.

  • this is an okay version, it does not compare in any was to don williams, or even to reba's

  • Derek and the Dominoes...

    Eric Slowhand Clapton....

Jamie Oldaker, drums, Dick Simms, keyboards Jim Keltner, guitar, and Carl Radle, bass, a bit later Marcy Levy on vocals, and Sergio Pastora Rodriguez, percussionist. and other Tulsa musicians including JJ Cale, Beau Velvet aka Hank Wilson aka ?, Tommy Triplehorn. Jimmy Markham.

Carl Radle, a great bass player was from Claremore, until his untimely death in the late 70's, his widow eventually married Ringo Starr. RIP Carl...

    ole bub...

  • it's a great song !!!

    i love it

  • grooooove!! he rock just like chuck berry, doesn't he? kinda rocknroll drive, unusual of eric

  • Wow...

  • Carl Radle was from Tulsa.

  • I'm from Tulsa and I am wondering if anyone can identify the other Tulsa band members. Leon Russell and JJ Cale are not there so who are they?GREAT SONG!

  • Great!

  • which guitar is this, its got a different headstock to both blackie and brownie?

  • Comment removed

  • I researched a bit... actually I've never seen EC with a large-headstock Strat before... it looks like being a 1971 one... but don't know more about it...

  • Yeah your right. In all the concerts I've seen of him I've never seen him play that one, even when he played with the domino's the sunburst was not large headstock. Most his early strats he used during the 70's were from the mid to late 50's and Blackie I believe was make from parts of other guitars.

  • it's a 70's start with bold lettering fender started using the large head stock in 1965 an

I looked into it some more and found out that he used this guitar as you see to play slide in live concerts when he recored he used a resonator guitar or his es 335 to play slide

  • how old was he¿

  • guess this was in 1978 or 1979... so he was something around 33 or 34 of age... great clip of one of my alltime favourites of EC - my hero... though his tongue is a little "heavy" when he's talking which was obviously pretty standard those days... but when he plays and sings... top notch... amazing... :-)

  • thx for answer my question, sry my english

    clapton 4 ever

  • Eric was young and thin, anyway great song and great live

  • this isnt bad, but don william's version is better

  • I love this clapton era!

  • SWEET

  • Actually Don Williams introduced this song to EC. Don was touring Oklahoma and they got snowed in in Tulsa. While they were there, Danny Flowers, DW's lead guitar player wrote this song. Then EC called DW if he could open a show for him in Nashville, and Don played Tulsa Time for Eric. Eric found this a great song. Then it became sort of a race who of the 2 would release it first. It became a #1 hit for Don, I haven't figured out for Eric. Also #1?. Eric's version is good, but I prefer Don's.

  • He always smiles when he does stuff that you and I can't do!

    Great to see this!

  • clapton is god

  • Really?

Dear Eric, please cure my mothers cancer!!

  • @ bird

HAHAHH ! Spot on, yeah !

  • Clapton is god lol grow up

  • Good ol' Don Williams classic...

  • TULSA BOYS ROCK !

    Carl Dean Radle - RIP

  • Clapton is a class act!

He has to understand that he is a living legend, yet I've never heard him say anything about his abilitys(good or bad) and I've never heard him say anything negative about a fellow musician... Now that's Class!

  • Nowadays Eric is a great guy. I'm reading his autobiography and you wouldn't think this nice old man, rock and roll legend would have done some things that he's done. Earlier in his life he would have been a real bastard but now that he's clean, what a man!

  • That's the great thing about redemption!

The people we are today (with work) will be only a shadow of the people we will become in forty or so years!

  • yea he was a bit of a lad but a the catalyst was his mothers rejection I grew up with his music so he is not that old to me

  • I read his autobiography last summer. I thought it was really honest and sincere. A good read.

  • i thought it was great and i loved how he was bruttaly honest

  • hahahaha hohohoho the song is so great!!
