  • also, it doesn't abrade the opposing dentition (that means if it is a lower tooth, it won't wear down the upper tooth that it normally touches during biting... and vice versa). If u have friends with a PFM porcelain, u'll see that the opposing tooth is flat like... [insert analogy here... pancake? kentucky?].. u get the point

  • hey you little shit, hes saying in dentistry gold is the strongest metal that is safe, and most gold arent always pure. think before you type

  • Gold IS strong. It's soft and strong, as opposed to hard and brittle. You can stretch it into a hair thin sheet. Strong being used here to mean that it hangs together well.

  • And it's used for dentures to impress all the lovely orderlies at the retirement home.

  • this doesnt make sence gold is one of the weakest metal that we know of. also it isnt cheap

  • for safe dentistry it is the strongest and safest. not for all metal in teh world. plus most other meals rust

  • ok!!!!! :D

  • They still use gold, they just bake a layer of porcelain over the top of it. Therefore you get the aestetics of porcelain along with the really good fit from gold.

  • for molars, I like just plain gold crowns. they last a long time, I have had a couple gold crowns like 13 years now, sometimes the gold is an alloy that makes it stronger

  • what other materials could u use??
