All he did was he factored out the numerators which were originally a^2-a-6

cause if u multiply (a-3)(a+2)

it would be equivalent to a^2-a-6

and the reason he factored the denominators because it is much easier to see what each side lack, and he found that it was (a-9) and (a-2)

the left side was missing (a-9) so he multiplied it to the bottom and top to balance them out, and (a-9) to balance them out, cause u can't subtract or add any fractions that have different denominators
