@Uberponed5 Ur the one that needs to check the stats. ktm 450sx makes the most horsepower. A ds450 piped with an FMI and only makes 45 horsepower. It received 5th place for horsepower in the atvondemand 450cc shootout. KTM got 1st and mad 51 horsepower STOCK. Not saying the ds450 is a bad quad. just wanted to make a point
at this time the yfz 450 is the fastest quad out the crate wit a decent cam and a high compression..... but honda450r has more potential....so if u are planning on modding a quad, go with honda 450r.......unless u want a 2 stroke, then banshee or quadzilla
In defense of the YFZ, the driver did come down hard after that wheelie, but the DS still had him anyway. Stock vs stock its hard to beat the DS in a simple drag, alot of power, especially in the mid-top end. Its a hillclimbing monster too. The YFZ is an amazing machine, I am a fan, but it shines in MX most of all, the DS cant be beat on the trails and drags though.
ds 450 are the fastest production quad out there. i own a 2008 ds 450x so the first year they came out and i raced a 700 raptor with exhaust intake and a chip, mine is completely stock and i still beat him in a 1 km drag race, sure he will pass me in the end with his top end but on a track and most drags the ds450 rapes everything. an amazing bottom end and an incredible power band is the way to go. ds450 ftw

@mossow71 haha, Ds are faster then Yfz, if you go on to computers results, but if you go with riders, a rider who is new to the clutch system and is on the Ds vs. a pro rider on the Yfz, well then, theres a chance that the Yfz will be faster, but you would need a pro rider on the yfz to actually try against a good rider on a Ds :D, yfz do have a great top speed, like as all yams( meaning raptors ) , but its the first one to reach the highest speed as quick as possible who wins, meaining the Ds

@mossow71 kk cool, yeah me too im in need of a tune up, got to send my Ds to the dealer for a full check-up and a tunning, then this summer I'll start adding, exhaust(full system) , air filter, piston , cams, new tires, and A-arm +2 , also need parts to make my frame tougher, I was told it is a strong frame the Ds got, but gets wear down fast when you do jumps

@mossow71 yep, I want to change my sprocket sizing, front and back, but don't know what to put for my Ds, already when I floor it, it reaches out to the over-rev to soon, I would prefer a longer gearing and higher top speed, just don't know what size I should put on it, and yeah, carbs are hard to find the perfect jetting for each mod you add on to it, but once you got it, HOLY SHIT , its like a JET ;) same principle as in a Nissan skyline with a carb 4-inline engine
@Maxomath you should have a 14 tooth sprocket on front and 38 on rear stock.if i were you id go with a 15 tooth on fornt and 37 on rear 3 and 4 will be longer and you will get more top speed also 16 on front and 36 on rear is good when you gear it for top speed you loose a little of your bottom end but i didn't notice any different on my yfz i did notice 3 and 4 were longer gears and more top speed.yeah i wont be riding as much this season becuase gas is 4.15 a gallon for premium.
@mossow71 k cool, defenetly going for a 15 37 then, and yeah, gas getting expensive, here its 1.22 for 91 octane to, but what I do instead, is get 89 octane and add octane booster to it to make rich to 92 octane
@Maxomath octane booster doesnt do shit it only raises the fuel octane rating by 1 point go to the stoore and get xylene and marvels magic myster oil and mix sm gas 32:1 ratio it will the xylene and abt 3 ounces per gallon it raise 95 to about 105 thats what i run in my yfz since it higher comp

@Maxomath you fucking idiot suzuki and kawasaki are not the same never have been and never will be. suzuki sold the rights to the z400 to both kawasaki and arctic cat through 2007. so if you own a kawasaki 400 it is indeed a suzuki. in 06 suzuki came out with the ltr 450 and I think in 08 they came out with the new efi z400. they did not sell the rights of either of those quads to kawasaki. kawasaki made their own 450 which is completely different from suzuki. nothing is the same.

@Maxomath go to kawasaki's website and suzuki's. look up the specs of the 450's. compression isnt the same, bore and stroke isnt the same, kawasaki uses an aluminum frame suzuki is steel! throttle body's are completely different suspension is completely different! you are such an idiot! congrats on your ds 450 I rode one and it felt like i was stuck in mud untill about 6k and the power lasted about as long as your sex does............2-3 seconds give or take!

@Maxomath the only polaris people say that the ds or renegade sucks is the 1s with outlaw. btw i have a 2008 outlaw 450 and my dad has a renegade 800. i personally think that the can ams r good and that the ds 450 is almost equal.(ktm motors make the most power) but other than tht it is just as good.

@Maxomath well its opposite on my side. my neighbors and friends pefer my ktm over the ds which my neighbor has. they like the power and handleing more. just a lil bit though. and the die hard yamaha and honda fans said there equal in handle and nimbleness, but say they lik the ktm better due to it hav a better feeling when accelerating. this is there opinion. in my opinion, the ktm is better than the can am on more high speed trails+tracks, but on tighter trails+tracks, they r prety equal.
@JendrusZbojnik lol fail, the Ds and the Yfz are the 2 quads in the 450cc class that have the highest top speed, and I also think the Kfx also(not sure) but definitely not the Ktm, ktm are great on acceleration but not there top speed, but for the handling, yeah, the ktm is lower to the ground so you feel more confident that you won't flip so you got that of less to worry about when your handling it at high speeds , also I know a guy who races Ktm's and nha, he prefers the Ds stock for stock

@JendrusZbojnik well of course,the ktm has an excellent acceleration plus it has 18" tires so your tires turn faster so that mean you rev faster meaning you got to change gear faster with out losing momentum and that from stock,the ds from stock has 20" tires,made to reach there top speed better,so 18" tire atv with excellent acceleration vs an atv with 20" with less low-end power then the ktm,but you are right, all quads are sick,even sicker when the riders are good and its a nice day outside

And who ever was driving on the left sucks, he couldn't control the atv when it accelerated so he stopped accelerating for the first 3 sec while the guy on the right took the lead. The guy on the right drove better but still couldn't control it perfectly.
I have a DS 450 and can control that almost 90% of the time when accelerating it the max right away. That's difficult. Even on some of the worse atv's in the 400's class.

I have honda's kawasaki's and yamaha's in my home, there all welcome to come back whenever they like, why you ask? becuase, the honda's are reliable, the yamaha's are power feen's and the kawasaki does both. haha, all in all im a fan of all japanese companies (kawasaki etc) not a fan of ktm, (had a exc 450 and it dropped a valve after 6 hours. and not a fan of can am, however i bought my wife an 800, it is a very reliable machine. heavy as a dodge though haha.

I had a ds 650 and it was faster than a stock raptor 660. And I used to beat the crap out of that engine and I never had any problems with it. The 2008 Can-Am DS 450EFI is lighter and 9% more powerful than any other 450 on the market. And the Rotex engine is awesome and sounds great! Personally I would go with the Can-Am DS 450. All the 450s are nice but if you want the lightest and most powerful stock 450 go with the Can-Am DS 450.
yfz is not faster than the ds 450. so it has 7 more horses...big whoop. The ds 450 is the lightest atv in its class on the market right now. That makes up for the whopping 7 horses. Plus its got the rotax engine which is unstoppable compared to the others out there.

@mossow71 yep, I want to change my sprocket sizing, front and back, but don't know what to put for my Ds, already when I floor it, it reaches out to the over-rev to soon, I would prefer a longer gearing and higher top speed, just don't know what size I should put on it, and yeah, carbs are hard to find the perfect jetting for each mod you add on to it, but once you got it, HOLY SHIT , its like a JET ;) same principle as in a Nissan skyline with a carb 4-inline engine

@Maxomath you should have a 14 tooth sprocket on front and 38 on rear stock.if i were you id go with a 15 tooth on fornt and 37 on rear 3 and 4 will be longer and you will get more top speed also 16 on front and 36 on rear is good when you gear it for top speed you loose a little of your bottom end but i didn't notice any different on my yfz i did notice 3 and 4 were longer gears and more top speed.yeah i wont be riding as much this season becuase gas is 4.15 a gallon for premium.

@Maxomath you fucking idiot suzuki and kawasaki are not the same never have been and never will be. suzuki sold the rights to the z400 to both kawasaki and arctic cat through 2007. so if you own a kawasaki 400 it is indeed a suzuki. in 06 suzuki came out with the ltr 450 and I think in 08 they came out with the new efi z400. they did not sell the rights of either of those quads to kawasaki. kawasaki made their own 450 which is completely different from suzuki. nothing is the same.

@Maxomath go to kawasaki's website and suzuki's. look up the specs of the 450's. compression isnt the same, bore and stroke isnt the same, kawasaki uses an aluminum frame suzuki is steel! throttle body's are completely different suspension is completely different! you are such an idiot! congrats on your ds 450 I rode one and it felt like i was stuck in mud untill about 6k and the power lasted about as long as your sex does............2-3 seconds give or take!

@Maxomath well its opposite on my side. my neighbors and friends pefer my ktm over the ds which my neighbor has. they like the power and handleing more. just a lil bit though. and the die hard yamaha and honda fans said there equal in handle and nimbleness, but say they lik the ktm better due to it hav a better feeling when accelerating. this is there opinion. in my opinion, the ktm is better than the can am on more high speed trails+tracks, but on tighter trails+tracks, they r prety equal.

@JendrusZbojnik lol fail, the Ds and the Yfz are the 2 quads in the 450cc class that have the highest top speed, and I also think the Kfx also(not sure) but definitely not the Ktm, ktm are great on acceleration but not there top speed, but for the handling, yeah, the ktm is lower to the ground so you feel more confident that you won't flip so you got that of less to worry about when your handling it at high speeds , also I know a guy who races Ktm's and nha, he prefers the Ds stock for stock

@JendrusZbojnik well of course,the ktm has an excellent acceleration plus it has 18" tires so your tires turn faster so that mean you rev faster meaning you got to change gear faster with out losing momentum and that from stock,the ds from stock has 20" tires,made to reach there top speed better,so 18" tire atv with excellent acceleration vs an atv with 20" with less low-end power then the ktm,but you are right, all quads are sick,even sicker when the riders are good and its a nice day outside

And who ever was driving on the left sucks, he couldn't control the atv when it accelerated so he stopped accelerating for the first 3 sec while the guy on the right took the lead. The guy on the right drove better but still couldn't control it perfectly.
I have a DS 450 and can control that almost 90% of the time when accelerating it the max right away. That's difficult. Even on some of the worse atv's in the 400's class.

I have honda's kawasaki's and yamaha's in my home, there all welcome to come back whenever they like, why you ask? becuase, the honda's are reliable, the yamaha's are power feen's and the kawasaki does both. haha, all in all im a fan of all japanese companies (kawasaki etc) not a fan of ktm, (had a exc 450 and it dropped a valve after 6 hours. and not a fan of can am, however i bought my wife an 800, it is a very reliable machine. heavy as a dodge though haha.

I had a ds 650 and it was faster than a stock raptor 660. And I used to beat the crap out of that engine and I never had any problems with it. The 2008 Can-Am DS 450EFI is lighter and 9% more powerful than any other 450 on the market. And the Rotex engine is awesome and sounds great! Personally I would go with the Can-Am DS 450. All the 450s are nice but if you want the lightest and most powerful stock 450 go with the Can-Am DS 450.

yfz is not faster than the ds 450. so it has 7 more horses...big whoop. The ds 450 is the lightest atv in its class on the market right now. That makes up for the whopping 7 horses. Plus its got the rotax engine which is unstoppable compared to the others out there.

BansheeKiller05, to an extent I agree with you... But, give me a quad with 70hp and tops out at 100mph I don't care how good anyone else is, a stock bike aint beating me in a straight line. Within reason, yes rider over bike. But, it has it's limits.

the yfz is a heavy outdated peice of shit , witht the some of the worst racing ergonomics in the 450 market ........it handles like horse shit , so if u were gonna choose a bike to bring tothe track u sure as hell wouldnt bring a yfz....i should know i own two

guess what all akraix riders are on ds's. bombsquad is actually on polaris now. the ds won the pro class in WORCS the past 2 years. It's a brand new bike, the championships will come soon.
