I can't get over those of you being critical of these two young men. Can you see into their hearts? Can you judge their motives for waht they are doing? You cannot. Only God sees into the hearts and knows men's motives for all they do. That is all that matters, truly, not your judgmental opinions.
Even if they get paid - they are being blessed because they have agreed to give God a try. It proves that God will take care of you. You should get paid, blessed, respected and whatever comes with giving your life to Christ. I hope others will give it a try.
Also I think this verse is fitting for Alex and Brett. "Do you see a man who excels in his work? He will stand before kings; He will not stand before unknown men." Proverbs 22:29
How about the very next line in proverb 23:1-3, etc. "When you sit down to eat with a ruler, observe carefully what is before you, and put a knife to your throatif you are given to appetite. Do not desire his delicacies, for they are deceptive food."
how many teens are pretending to be Christians. The people that attend the Crystal Cathedral (or watch the Hour of Power) are drunk with worldliness (and false gospels) they need to hear a sober person talk. They are not going to say that they need to repent and have an altar call then and there. But if you come to a conference (or read the book) they will be called to repent. If you can't attend a conference buy their DVD's of the conference and then see what you think.
How many "leaders" are pretending to be Christians? Yeah, I know about their father and many of his teachings that have yet to be thoroughly challenged and confronted by believers who actually study the Bible.
I am friends with Alex and Brett Harris and they are not money hungry, power seeking, fame loving people that you are making them out to be. 1. Have you ever been to one of there conferences? or Read their book? Or visited their website? The funny thing is that some people judge motives from only "researching" online. 2. They are Reformed people who have a passion for world missions and for the Gospel. Gregg (their father) speaks at their conference with a very powerful message about
1 no, but someone I know has, 2yes, 3yes. If you know them, do you know how much money they get for their appearances, just for being conference speakers? Can you ask them how much they got paid for being on that ungodly tv wolf's show? So, it's pragmatism for them when believers ask the hard questions. But they've got a history of exclusionism in their dad's or Josh's teachings, which dad's heavily involved in their beliefs, that excludes believers on the basis of personal preferences.
You amaze me! Do you realize that God gave them a talent and because the utilize their talent they get paid. You would too. Give it a try - give your all to Christ first - then see what he can do for you.
More about marketing and getting their name out there, than getting the gospel of Jesus out there. It's a different ballgame than say, CNN, where of course, there are non-Bible-believing people watching. The Crystal Cathedral believers are people who are lacking discernment anyway, and need to read their Bibles instead of watching televangelists building their empires. Makes me wonder about their discernment, too, and all their blind followers' discernement as well.
Wouldn't it be disengenuous for them to agree to be there, but them to also believe that the crystal cathedral and all its fame and far-reaching tv abilities is really a spiritually dark place? That would be hypocritical of them to promote their "message", by the way, it's available in their book and conferences, but on the other hand, USE the blasphemous crystal cathedral and Robert Schuler enterprises to promote their agenda.
So, in my understanding, when they went to a major televangelist's tv show to promote their "message", they weren't taking advantage of the publicity they'd receive there? Incidentally, no Gospel message was explained, just "do hard things". It's just a new and updated "Gothard-type" message, or motivational speaking message.
H3r3igns, you totally missed the point. These two guys are VERY biblically grounded. In fact they were not promoting their book at all, they were promoting a biblical call to teenagers and parents in a place where a solid biblical foundation lacks tremendously. God calls us to evangelize the lost, and that is exactly what these two guys were doing. This is probably the most gospel preached in that place in years! In fact they even said it could cost THEM. I urge you to watch the clip again.
wow. they have really lost credibility now. So, these guys will promote themselves even on a money-grubbing televangelists' show, who spouts heresy and a prosperity gospel just to sell their book. sickening. I'm glad my kids are normal, and not fame-hunting like these guys. oh, wait, maybe they're just keeping the family biz going, no matter if they have to sell their souls in the process.
@redhairedreformer I agree that alot of teens pretend to be christian, but are soo worldly at the same time

I talked to Alex and he told me that they have been paid nothing for the appearance on the Hour of Power (or any other appearance).
