my wife went to this,it was during the Blizzard of 69 there were not a lot of people cuz of the storm and 1/2 wat thru the show Johnny walks in w all the people from his show, GOD I wish I could have seen/this. a slice of heaven!!
Is this an album? If it is can you post the info on it. I used to listen to an album when i was a teen back in the 70's of janis and johnny together and have been looking for it since then. Great stuff!! Thanks for sharing!
Janis and Johnny Winter also jammed together with B.B. King at the second Miami Pop Festival December 1968 at Gulfstream Park. It happened in the afternoon, as I recall, on a small stage to a few hundred folks. I had a professional quality portable tape recorder for radio stations and taped their performance. I played it on my FM show in Tampa, but, alas, the tape was lost over the years.
Tonight I was just fooling around looking for concerts I have been to, ! What a surprise! I was at this show too. ,Janice drinking Southern Comfort straight, from the bottle. I still have the ticket stub to prove it.Thanks for posting this.
This is awesome I listen to johnny and janice for all my life since I was a child 12 years old he is 1 of ums that inspired me to play did you see me on youtube hulksterjerry :-) I love this video
OMG Just like everyone else I`ve stumbled on this by accident but HOLY SHIT is it great!! Sound quality is not good but who cares??? Just the thought of Janis Joplin and Johnny Winter is more than enough ror me. Wish I could have been there!
omg, i came upon this vid by chance....thank u thank u! janis is my idol, i have worshipped her since like i was 17 years old! i m 53, and i love her still!
Gawd dontcha wish this was on film? Love hearing this. Ive only heard the "version" from her In Concert album which she sang with Nick Gravenites. Thanks for this one. Awesome. ♥Peace
Maybe so, but it seems more to me like some sort of live shot-gun wedding between blues and rock.
Historic purposes indeed... You say that almost apologetically, then you proceed to post one of the most kick-ass jams that anyone could hope to hear anywhere.
DAMN, Janis and Johnny, what a treat, saw Johnny in 72', Janis at Monterey, never heard them together, thank you for the post!@ FReaqwkin' awesome!!!!!!!
Johnny Winter AND Janis Joplin?!?! The ones who had the privilege to see that live must have died very very happy and pleaseful afterwards... Why the hell am I so fucking young!?
The two "Bluest" white people to ever share a stage... Thanks for sharing this. Its fucking awesome, and a moment in history that should be remembered forever.
@PsychLion Yes, I was really surprised when Janis brought out Johnny Winter, it was great. The Paul Butterfield Blues Band was the opening band, and they were also great. I went to Johnny Winter's concert the next night for a full night of hearing Johnny.
Cool stuff and rare I must say. Its odd to see Johnny with a Les Paul, although I think he recorded 2nd Winter on a Gold Top LP. Thanks for sharing this bit of history.
YEAH BABY, YOU NEVER KNOW WHATS GOING TO COME YOUR WAY ON YOU TUBE.....THE JOY IS JUST NEVER ENDING....JUST LISTEN TO JOHNNY GET IT ON! AND JANIS WE'RE IN HEAVEN MAN! WOWY ZOWY!
Hey! I saw the same tour in NYC Madison square Garden 1969, Johnny winter came in as a guest, Janis introduced him something like this " When I was in Texas, I used to get shit on a lot, here's someone else that got shit on, JOHNNY WINTER!!"
Now this isn't word for word, but very close as I remember...
Oh my god! I just accidentally ran across this, could there have been a cooler moment in rock history?!? Thank you so much for recording and posting so many years later
Thank You :)
