Morale is a big factor. He had a frontal charge, but if you noticed once the cavalry hit him from the back his morale started to go back up while the enemy went down.

short advice if u have strong cavlary don`t buy loan ashigaru buy only yari ashigaru yari bow mens and superrior cavalary use the yari to take dmg so place the into yari wall formation and comve with ur cavalary from flanks (basic tactics)

My first battle was against a level 10 golden guy. Nothing more to say. I have played over 100 battles and it was only time I ever met a level 10 golden, seriously. Wish I could face him again. It seems like the higher level you become, the lower level opponent you get.

I am playing with Matchlock Samurai/Ashigaru and to me they don't seem to be cost-effective. When I play I put them in ranks of 3 (NAPtw) and have lined fire on. But they only get off two shots. Here is where my question lies. Should I try to pull them back from the front, counter charge, or take the hit? I would like to use Matchlock weapons to their potential, any help would be great

They are carrying silk balloons, silk cannot be pierced by arrows, and so it serves as a shield when retreating. Both Ancient Discoveries, and Myth busters, have proved them to work brilliantly.

If you have a silk shirt, the arrow will still pierce into you body, but not through the silk; it will carry the silk with it. That's why Genghis Khan issued his men silk shirts. It has been successfully tested by both ancient discoveries and myth busters.

@hellsongfurry123 Actually silk can be pierced but it is unlikely to completely pierce it. So a silk balloon will probs have a bunch of arrows sticking out of them, but silk armour will do nothing as slight piercing of armour still means it pierces skin.
