It's easy enough to keep the turret -- when you get to the top of the room with the turret ambush, two turrets come out of the ceiling to attack you. Port behind 'em, knock one over, and keep one as your friend! Just tried this out myself and it worked.

Bonus feature: GLaDOS' voice slows down continually until the end of her lines; since you kill her so fast, she keeps talking slower and slower, even into the ending song.
