Your technique Is Comperable to when I was Young, I was a genius but I never respected my elders and eventually my Grandma died . That day I swore to forever respect my elders and those older than me and since then Ive become perfect at my craft . Hopefully James someday you will become a master of your craft
First of al i must compliment on excellent play but i do think you rushed the piece quite a bit to much to the point that it disturbes listening quite mutch.
May i ask how long you have/had played when you performed this video.
does it matter how fast one chooses to play? each person has his or her own interpretation of the same piece hundreds of other people may choose to play. in my opinion, boris did wonderful in making this concerto sound exciting.
ooooh good! you gave me the chills! i loved it!!! i love this piece SO much!!!! someday i want to learn how this play this, and i hope i can play it and perform anywhere as awesomely as you!!!!
Ohhhh God!!!! you keep giving me surprises!!! this is great. I'm 19 and I started playing the cello 1 year and a half ago. And every time I look to your videos I just blush, hehe. Where do you study???
wow! wat a great experience getting to play with an orchestra young! im 14 too but i havent gotten the chance to play with an orchestra yet. how long have you been playing for?
Bravo,Bobi! Prodaljavai vse taka napred i nagore i pokaji na celiq svqt,4e i v Bulgaaria ima talantlivi deca!Jelaq ti ot vse sartse mnogo zdrave i uspehi:))Proud to be bulgarian!
It's not fair to compare Oliver (who was 11 in his Saint Saens video) and Boris, who is 14 here and playing with a much better orchestra. They are both excellent musicians and have very very different temperaments. There is no need to make judgements and compare - why not just enjoy both?
Boris, you play FAR better that oliver :) I don't think oliver will liberate his music from his technique for many years, whereas you clearly have an innate ability to do so.
Bravo! Simplesmente maravilhoso!

I know! He's one of my favorite Youtube cellists. Did you hear his Rumanian Dances? If you didn't ,go listen to it. This kid is a natural.

I think that the recording may be responsible for the slight lack of clarity throughout the piece. Or maybe my speakers are just fuzzy o.o?
dvii253 3 years ago
Yes not saying that it wasn't a wonderfull performance. Only ment to say that it was a bit hasty for my liking.
Great job!

The cadenza's boring, lol.

Ha-Ha-ha, Gilles Apap is unsurpassed in making up cadenzas :). This concerto has no real cadenza, though.

better than Oliver, the other 13 yr old cellist

That's not a fair comparison! Oliver was 11 in his Saint-Saens video and Boris is 14 here...
I think they both are superb musicians and both have unique and great talents...

Of course you can't compare them. Boris has guts!
