She's trying to do a demonstration, yes, I get it. But why would she even post a video on the internet decorating a cake like this? I say if you're going to post a tutorial, it better be really good. She comes off as sloppy and confused. If she's a professional, she needs to show it. My inexperienced little sister could do a better job than that, sorry.
@humannaturedj As I recall, she never says anything about being a professional. For all we know, she could have the same amount of skill as any of the people watching this - which is actually be incredibly effective, since it shows that normal people could actually do this sort of thing. I doubt your sister could do better than this simply because if she's as inexperienced as you say, her frosting would come out wrong. It would probably run down the sides - that happens the first few tries.
@zegct1 Actually, she is. I've seen a short bio of her before. She isn't an amateur. I see what you're saying, I do. But my opinion is, if you know that you are still trying to improve on your skills, don't post a tutorial to people who are trying to learn. That's like asking a person how to build a house or install lighting when they've never had any type of experience and they don't exactly know what they're doing. I wouldn't post a tutorial until I perfected my technique. That's just me.
You don't want crumbs in your frosting because it looks ugly
you cant really transfer a frosted cake from one plate to another (though she hsould have put some papertowels underneath the cake so the cake plate wouldn't get dirty as she was frosting the cake)
and frosting and icing are the same thing.
I actually think this is very informative, and a good resource to those starting out. And i think her frosting technique is very useful and is used by expert decorators.
I also enjoyed this video and thought it was informative :) For using the paper towels, how will you remove them after frosting? Id like to make my own cake so I was wondering how to do it the cleanest way possible :)
OH what does it matter getting crumbs on the frosting? Ur gonna eat it anyway! It's all goin in the same place! It's not like the frosting is going into ur stomach and the crumbs go to ur brain. They all go in the same direction and that is to ur stomach.
@sillybear569 Some people want a professional finish, so they do a crumb coat first to seal all the crumbs in before adding another-cleaner- layer of frosting :)
@patiencebiggs you don't really need anything its just thick but not to thick you want smooth consistency but if you are having trouble run a knife around the cake trimming of the edges of the cake that stick out making the cake flatter and easier to frost
is that butter icing?
