After a long drive my girlfriend and I had the misfortune of staying at this poor excuse for a B&B. I will refer to it as a shit pit because thats exactly what it is. After a poor nights sleep on a granite bed our dingy room in the daylight revealed a filthy rug you could grow spuds on followed by a shit smudge on the bathroom wall. The bathroom was more like terrace privvy with a shower. This place is a disgrace to say the least. A "STAIN" on good Irish service and hospitality.
I was there a few weeks ago. The haddock and chips were fantastic and service was excellent!!! I would go for the food, not the internet- rather unsocial behavior at a pub anyway!!
I've used the Dunning's internet many times and have never been overcharged. The rates are fair, and you can bring a pint into the internet room. I'm in Westport once a year, and Pat always remembers me. Once, he took time out from a busy Saturday night to help me start my car. The young people behind the bar are unfailingly pleasant and courteous -- no surprise, because this is Ireland we're talking about.
dunnings bar is a great bed and breakfast carckin meals in there aswell always had the crack with pat and mary never had a bad experience a was there last yr and was there for st paddys day 2010 gd prices and gd service....u people must of had a bad attitude and got one back recommend stayin there to find out for ya selfs that its a crackin place we will be back in the summer
You just don't get it. A visit to Dunnings is an experience that you'll always remember - something you can talk about and look back on - one that will bring a smile to your face, whether it was fun at the time or not!!!! I still remember my experience there with fondness!!
About 5 of us ate dinner in Dunnings one Sunday eve about 8 years back, We got our trains times messed up and had to leg it for the train, Pat Dunning drove us to Westport train station to catch the train which we missed by seconds, He then offered to drive us to Castlebar to catch it. We declined and spent another night on the piss in westport. V nice of him to do that - he didn't know us from Adam, I'd recommend the big breakfasts here.
I stayed there July 09 and believe me, i never will again. Filthy place with Greasy breakfasts, staff that barely speak english. Broken toilets and shower doors, no loo roll. He is the most ignorant and unfriendly man i've ever met. i will never return there again and put my kids theough that experience. Don't dare complain to Pat Dunning because the customer is never right.
Just a few words to thank you for all the publicity you engineered for us. It was really very good of you in these recessionary days. 2196 people viewed your video and I estimate that 3/4 of that number were kind enough to visit the pub and leave us some business. Again THANK YOU
3/4? Are you mental or were you just dropped on your head as a baby? Not even positive TV advertising would get you that much traffic? Everyone is saying how shit Dunnings is. If everyone says a place is good then people go there. If everyone says a place is shit, then the people who heard it was shit don't go there. The only people that go there are the usual pricks that have always gone there. And don't forget the strays that have the unfortunate luck to just chance upon the place.
