  • @Justgetout The sad thing... I don't know how many people will actually get that reference, but I love it.

  • @MarianaBayonaAlmeida

I can def see that. More towards the Smiths than U2 in my opinion.

  • @SX1995able

    ok

  • @Ryan115121225

Barbarism begins at home by the Smiths, a very good song.

  • My favourite song <3

  • Barbarism begins at home?

  • Dat bass line...

    Bye bye, ear virginity...

  • @xmarryxthexnightx its from the smiths barbarism begins at home.. seriously

  • Comment removed

  • Quit fucking saying this sounds like the smiths. they are two different songs, two different bands, two different meanings, and two different time periods. the bass is similar, yes, congrats. both bands are good but me and most the other people here are here to listen to THE KILLERS.

  • @Adrallius thats true cuz this is apart of murder trilogy

  • @Adrallius pluse i came here to listen 2 the killers

  • @Adrallius You take yourself too seriously.

  • @Adrallius Brandon Flowers ( vocalist ) , he had influences by U2 & The Smiths .

  • @Adrallius Love this song and I agree with you. But out of interest, what smith's song has a similar bass line? Any song that has a bass line like this one I need to hear.

  • Esssa bassline é inacreditável!!

  • My favorite song of all time. I listen to every genre but this song just grabs me.

    By the dick.

    Great job Killers.

  • I agree totally more than inspired from The Smiths "Barbarianism begins at home"

Good song but melody, bassline for sure was what was the word oh yea ripped off!

  • @cuz714 dont the killers like LOVE the smiths?

  • @spamuel44 YES! ;D

  • i love this sooong so much

  • this song is soooo sad . . . its about a guy who was acused of murdering his girlfrend (jenny). he gets put to the death penalty . . . :(

but its such a GREAT song!!!

    Badass

  • @savyhopi lol he did kill her , this song is the final song of the murder trilogy

  • @savyhopi he wasent accused he actually did

  • the killers are fucking badass

  • Barbarism begins at home!!

  • Ima slappin' de bass!

  • 4 people don't like The Killers. PROBLEMS!!!

  • woh. that bass is awsome

  • @TylerSampson51 What are the other two corresponding songs?

  • @DigitalBrent 1. Leave The Bourbon on The Shelf, 2. Midnight Show, then 3rd (this one). 1st is terrible, 2nd is alright and the 3rd is fucking amazing. :)

  • @MattyCody hahaha. Thanks. Your assessment of the all three songs was pretty accurate.

  • There's not a single Killers song that i dislike!

  • "There ain't no motive to this crime -- Jenny was a friend of mine." Was Jenny murdered?

  • @danimal111ify This song is from the perspective of somebody being accused of murdering a woman named Jenny.

  • @Deadlydesperado ahhh, muchas gracias

  • @danimal111ify yes, it's part of a murder trilogy, and i believe it goes over three albums and it starts with after the murder, then goes backwards

  • @Kikica341 1 person obviously can't come up with an original comment.

  • It is a smiths rip off but, all artists 'borrow' from each other. This is an excellent album, it's a pity this band lost their way so badly after this album.

  • @bees1982 lol they did not lose their way after this, sawdust/sams town much, though I'll forgive as i expect you actually meant by day & age?

  • @bees1982 they didn't lose their way! sam's town and sawdust were fucking amazing!!! day & age isn't exactly my cup of tea but i think their upcoming album is gonna be amazing.

  • aha such a smiths rip off....

  • @JazSmithPresentation

Huh? This song is genius. ._.

  • @JazSmithPresentation

    aha, such a pretentious douche.

  • @Robyourhouse it's good i'm not saying it's bad......but let's be honest though

  • Great bassline!

  • This wants me to play more bass and become better !

  • That sick bass you're all going on about is totally ripped from the smiths barbarianism begins at home. And even the melody brandon is singing with is similar to theirs.

  • @yukiru4eva092 not totally

  • @yukiru4eva092 I agree the songs are similar in melody and bass. probably a straight rip off. but in some form or song we both don't know about, the smiths ripped that off someone else (some funk band probably). thats what people who play music do-rip off their heroes and make it their own. the beatles did it-everyone does it. to make the plagiarism unnoticable is the real skill. nirvana's "smells like teen spirit" is a str8 rip off of the pixies song "gigantic"

  • ahahah! i love them!

  • is that bass rhythm originally by them? it sounds really familiar

  • This is more Duran Duran than Duran Duran

  • This song is part of a trilogy? I never knew that, until now.

  • @cetnikz

the other two being "Midnight Show," and "Leave the Bourbon on the Shelf."

  • This song is really beautiful to me. I just feel a lot of emotion from it. Damn, I'm high right now... but that's the damn truth ain't it?

  • But they are American so :p USA USA USA!!!

  • @spikero12 Yeah every once in a while the americans get some good artists. Most of em are in canada. (Justin Bieber is from hell but couldnt stand the heat. Hes not one of us)

  • the best bass riff ever

  • this bass riff looks like some Snes game ^^ (Top gear more precisely)

  • Are those tiny Chinese characters on top of the buildings? Or am I seeing things?

  • @GreenCoffinsStudios Yeah they are man, I can see them too. Well, I do have the album ;)

  • @GreenCoffinsStudios Well i see them to so unless the three of us are all halucinating the same thing.....

  • sickest bass line ever

  • SHE SAID SHE LOVED ME! Lol love that part xD

  • oh my lord! i about to have a heart attack. this is my favorite childhood song. so many memories. :D

i had totally forgotten about it until now. wow. (tear tear)

  • amazing album and song. Long live The Killers

  • this and Mr. Brightside, I think, are their two best songs, of course on their best album...by far

  • @arinross523 No Mr. Brightside, When You Were Young, and this song :]

  • Production fucking owns

  • they kinda sound a little bit like AFI and The Smashing Pumpkins here :P

  • @AmazingDOR oh dear god on what continent would you consider that a compliment

  • I love how my music player has an equalizer, so I can crank up the bass on this one every time. What an awesome song. The Killers are so epic!

  • 3 people were lil Jennies

  • listen to the bass in the verse! sweet!

  • These are one of those bands that are too good to be American.

  • @monkeymclaren oh yes. there seem to be a lot of those.

  • @monkeymclaren jealousy suits ya ;) xD

  • @monkeymclaren racist

  • @marcosg1992 ...And 32 people agree with me so stfu.

  • @monkeymclaren 32 people out of... how many people in america alone have listened to this song?

  • @monkeymclaren LOL...Yeah...

  • @monkeymclaren Yes! Lol I totally know what you mean.

  • @monkeymclaren lol ikr

  • @monkeymclaren what is that supposed to mean?? there were tons of GREAT bands and artists that came out of america

  • @whipchops Exactly what I said.

  • @monkeymclaren The Killers are from Las Vegas, man! Lol.

  • @monkeymclaren Go suck a dick anti-American douche.

  • @deadenddude lol bent

  • @monkeymclaren You mean too good NOT to be American ;-)

  • @monkeymclaren Haha what nationality you are doesn't matter.

  • bassbassbassbassbassbassbass

  • @musterdsandwich More like...

    badassbadassbadassbadassbadassbadassbadass

  • I got their first album when they came out. they are te best band in the world.

  • Happy birthday, Hot Fuss!

  • this is my favorite killers song, and that's saying something!

  • 3 people have disliked this song and I respect their opinion.

  • Why are people not picking up on the fact that they stole the riff off 'Barbarism starts at home'?

  • @MrDeviousPixie Crazy, I listen to The Smith all the time and I never noticed. I. Must. Go. Check. For. Myself. Now.

  • @MrDeviousPixie My official, unofficial, opinion is that the two are quite different. The Killers opening is far flatter and even when Marr's opening is weirder.

I have heard The Smiths in other bands as well. Take Blur's Boys and Girls and then listen to Girlfriend In A Coma. Not the same, just they remind me of each other and when one or the other starts I have to wait to hear what song it is.

  • the killers (even if they're on hiatus) dont do music like this anymore, this is more rock, they're lastest works are more pop and emotional, this song still attaches to their 80's influences as compared to their earlier stuff :/

  • these guys are freaking awesome!

  • wheyy this is me :)

  • 2 people don't have a friend named Jenny.

  • @xXxHaRdCoR3REb3LxXx u kinda ripped off the last comment...

  • 2 people dont have friends named jennie

  • GO. KILLERS.

  • fucking awesome bass!

  • @AlexHallamHoward Only if other misenterpretations were solved like this on other videos. ^^

  • I LOVE THE FREAKIN TECHNO IN THIS SONG

  • Love love love<3

  • Just an amazing song. :)

  • ah they killed me with this song

  • My favorite killers song

  • @mrbelmont2000 good song

  • @mrbelmont2000 - hands down. they're absolute shit now.

  • @mrbelmont2000 omg yesssssss

  • extreme spazz-dancing begins at 3:16

  • two people didnt know jenny

  • @AlexHallamHoward LOL, sorry I misread, I thought you said that SONG was relevant at that time, not the lyric. That's what I get for trying to be funny and jumping the gun. My bad.

  • @AlexHallamHoward Are you charged with murder?!

  • i got punched in the balls in front of the big lighted K' by my best friend when they preformed it in Puerto Rico... hard to forget it was epic lmao.

  • @AlexHallamHoward

my favourite part of the song , too

    a tragic love

  • Sometimes the Killers make me think Pink Floyd and the Beatles had a child while tripping acid and Ketimine and smoked a bowl afterwards. Just saying.

  • My favorite Killers song (:

  • This song randomly got stuck in my head this morning! What a good morning it is!

  • THE TECHNO PART IS AMAZING

  • is it just me, or doesnt the that cool bass part at the begginning sound like the bass part near the end of Peter Gabriel's "Red Rain"?

  • the acoustic of this is beautiful!

  • Barbarism begins at home lololololololol

  • my friend said i should listen to this no i like good drumming and strong bass lines not this

  • I love this song!

  • unreal song! unreal band! deffo one if not my fav band!

  • This is still my favourite Killers song

  • L0o0o0ove it:)

  • this shit so ripped off "barbarism begins at home" by the smiths

  • @lemmehollaatya Glad I'm not the only one to hear the similarity. Though, I wouldn't call it a ripoff, they're huge fans of the Smiths and it's really a nod to them. As a musician, I would find it an honor to have people emulating my style. It shows you made a difference. And just to clarify, I completely love the Smiths way way way way way way more than the Killers.

  • @0Mirror1Mirror0

I love The Smiths as well, and this song's style and rhythm is similar to "Barbarism Begins At Home," but that was the point of this song. As you stated, The Smiths are a huge inspiration to The Killers, and they made this song similar to "Barbarism Begins At Home" because of that inspiration.

  • @lemmehollaatya

there are similarities but the lyrics, harmonies etc are no where near the same. stop nit picking and enjoy the music.

  • literally my favorite song of all time.

  • great album! great band! can't wait for the next one!

  • 0 dislikes. speaks for itself

  • @msnrud you mean one , who dislikes this ?

  • @AugsTube

    dang well not zero anymore

  • 0 dislikes...:D

  • That bass raped my ears....Replay

  • im done with guitar im gonna learn bass

  • The bass is killer. I love this song.

  • this song is conflicting, it sounds like something I would hate but i don't seem to mind it.... strange

  • Bass has made my head implode.. <3

  • I can't believe I gotta interpret this song for an assignment in English haha. If anyone wants to help me in the next 2 days, PM your interpretations of the lyrics. Here's mine (feel free to criticize): The guy is accused of killing his friend Jenny. He's being interrogated for his crime. The interrogator is trying to find his motive, but the guys says he didn't do it because she was his friend.

  • @drago2021 i think hes tlking to his girlfriend about his friend jenny because his girlfriend thinks hes cheating on her?

  • @dogg123456852 to me, it sound like the cops interogated him cuz they think he killed jenny lol

  • @drago2021 nvm

  • I love the bass in this song!! It's SO sickkkk!!!! :)

  • If the bass was a girl i'd have more than one baby with her. =]
