Lol, Pentium D isnt the best Single core processor for gaming. And you need at least 1gb to play anything smoothly. Just buy 1 gig(GB) of ram. This may or may not help, as games arent fully dependable on RAM. This mostly like a GPU issue. Do you have a GFX card or onboard GFX. If its onboard, it will fail at everything you throw at it.

Only some games depend on the processor (Sure Dual-core, or higher of course but frequency not).

It depends on you graphics card. Example my processor would do great with a 9800gt, but it would handicap the better ones as the 9800gtx above. And you processor would do great till maybe the gtx260 without handicapping

Pentium D's completely bottleneck 9800 GT's, and yes, processor frequencies really do count. Try playing a game with a minimum frequency of 2.0 GHz(Dual Core), and then comparing it to a dual core at 2.5-3.0 GHz.

You'll get steady frame rates on all high settings with a GTS 250 on Cod4 and Cod: WaW but your processor might bottleneck the card slightly.

There is no low setting, vsync is off which is better. And the normal settings cant be better, so its maxed out. Go and play a little COD4

TO RECORD IT WITH OUT LAG: Record it as a demo type /record FILENAME into the console. Then when your finished type /stoprecord it gets rid of the lag due to fraps. And makes the video much much better

Find free software to edit with. Movie maker compresses anything you put in it. Even if you export with the highest settings movie maker will put a shitty compressed bitrate and cause everything to show up blocky.

Well I'm not sure couse I dont know much about ATI cards I think it's on the level of the 8500gt, my old G-kard, ur processor and ram is fine. Try it on 1024x768 res. No AA. Shadows low (or off), specular map NO, soften smoke edges NO, depth of field NO. Thats it, If u meant this. If not ask again with more details pls!
