Im in Toronto, and now it all makes sence why my doctor told me that i will be taking depo testosterone for now on lol anybody experience anything different taking depo?
@StarcraftAlphaBeta I'm not sure to be honest - I haven't been able to find out anything else. I would suggest calling ahead to your pharmacy and asking if they have it in stock.
@DARTAGNANS170 Hey there - unfortunately there's now a Depo-Testosterone shortage as well. Hopefully Delatestryl will be back in supply before the Depo runs out.
@IluvAshland Hey there, I'm definitely not an expert. In parts of Canada, you have to consult an endocrinologist; in other parts you can just consult your doctor. I would say speak to whichever healthcare professional is qualified in your area, and go with their advice.
Wow, this is kind of intense when you think about how many trans individuals could be effected. I haven't heard of any shortages in the states (I'm in MN) but I'll keep my ear to the ground. I take cypionate and I tend to stock pile it a bit in case of just this kind of situation. Good luck & keep us posted pls!
@Popeslave Let me know! It will be interesting to see if this actually clears up in January, or if it continues. Hopefully it won't hit anywhere else.
@HerrBenjaminKalt I live in Texas and there is now a shortage here. I just went to walgreens and they said the manufacturers have it on back order and there is no release date. WTF. This SUCKS
@Popeslave cypionate(depo-testosterone) is not the product that is back ordered at the moment it is enthanate (dylatestryl) that is in short supply. You should be fine!
I just found out this problem a couple days ago when I went to renew my prescription. I had to have my hormone doc send in a prescription for depo instead. I'll be picking that up today and trying it out. It's a bummer and a hastle, that's for sure, but if it does the trick, that's all that matters to me. Since being on delestryl, I've developed allergies. I always wondered if it was the T... maybe I'll find out by switching over to depo.
@XXtheotherside Let me know how it works out for you! I'm really curious to hear about peoples experiences with other brands, ESPECIALLY if they've switched over. There's so little info about it, that every little tid bit helps. It might be the T, but it could also be the oil that it is suspended in.
@HerrBenjaminKalt Ya, I totally will. I'm interested to see if there's not only a difference in my allergies but also if I see any different changes in my physical transition. I have yet to take my next shot but when I do, i'll post a vid on any different experiences I've had.
My pharmacy ran out of dylatestryl in Oct. (I am in Ottawa), I was switched to depo-testosterone. It sucks to take double the amount but it is significantly cheeper! I believe I will be staying on the Depo, there seems to be more consistency with this product. Yes even though you have to take twice as much it is half the price, it comes in a 10ml vial instead of a 5ml vial-it is also slightly easier to inject as it is not quite as thick.
@ottawatransguy Is it really? That's surprising. I would have assumed that it would have been at least the same price, if not more expensive. Do you feel like you get the same effects physically and mentally from it?
@HerrBenjaminKalt Yup way cheaper! I've noticed no difference between the Depo and the Dylatestryl, i took my third shot of the depo yesterday-I inject weekly. It may be my imagination but I think my skin is a little better on the depo-you'd figure it would get worse injecting twice the amount of oil into my system. The dylatestryl is thicker and suspended in sesame oil, the depo is thinner and suspended in cotton seed oil.
We've had a shortage in the UK since about July, we're now out of two different types of testosterone. A friend of mine contacted MSD (Organon in America - they manufacture one of the types) who said there's a manufacturing problem and they don't know when they will be producing testosterone again. I'm not sure if Organon supply Canada, but they have been causing shortages worldwide.
@GeorgesTransition Yikes; that's awful. I hope these companies get their acts together soon! I'll have to look into it a bit more. I heard a really helpful suggestion that sometimes it has to do with the oil that the drug is suspended in.
Yeah, I had the same problem in the summer. I live in Ontario and they ran out in about late June. I had the pharmacy switch my prescription from what you are taking to Depo-Testosterone Cypionate. You do have to take twice as much, but it's better than nothing right? I was not warned at all.
@TheSam041 It's so strange that they do that; I just received word from someone that it may have to do with the actual oil that the testosterone is suspended in.
@HerrBenjaminKalt As TheSam041 indicated, Theramed hasn't been shipping Delatestryl for months. Pharmacies keep varying amounts in stock, so you'll only find out about the shortage when your pharmacy runs out. Here in BC, the shortage reared its head around June as well. Ironically, I switched from Depo-T Cypionate to Delatestryl early in transition because there was a shortage of Cyp. This summer, I switched back to Cyp because now there's a Delatestryl shortage.
@transoutlaw Hey man, thanks for this. That's really interesting to hear that it's related to the oil. Someone actually suggested to me that this may have to do with it; have you heard anything similar?
@HerrBenjaminKalt Well, now I can't get cypionate (depo-testosterone) here in BC either. Both Delatestryl and Depo are on backorder and I'm outta T. My doctor told me yesterday that he believes some of these shortages are "orchestrated" to drive prices up. Delatestryl doubled in price this year... watch Pfizer increase the price on Depo next.
We've had the same shortage in New Zealand since September. I am continually amazed how calm non testosterone takers are about it. What if it was a heart drug or something?
It may have been a good thing you didn't reach a live person - recording a phone conversation without both parties' consent is a felony in most areas. In a few jurisdictions only one party needs to consent. Protect yourself, know the law in your area.
@ProFriend Well I guess it's a very good thing that I was aware of Canada's one-party consent requirement. Your comment also assumes that I wouldn't have informed the responding party of my intentions or actions.
@HerrBenjaminKalt I'm glad to know you were aware, and yes, I did assume (since you hadn't said anything about it). The comment was intended for less knowledgeable viewers as much as for you. I hate to see anyone's life needlessly ruined.
there was a shortage in montreal like 4 months ago, and now theres a HUGE shortage now so people are getting like cypionate or something and you have to take like twice as much or something its BS.
Good demo. I admire you keeping your cool while getting that run around. Before there were automated answering systems for phones, it was common to get a live person quickly on a first phone call. Now most of that access is forgotten. I hope you will soon get to the bottom of this. You might want to start looking into the financial health of this distribution business.

@HerrBenjaminKalt As of 19/02/2012 (DD/MM/YYYY), there is still no Delatestryl, I checked yesterday!
No problem though. They replace it with Depo-Testosterone! I've been on depo-testosterone for weeks now, it does the same thing!

@DARTAGNANS170 They said Delatestryl should arrive in about March.

I take both type of T without consulting to the endo. So I ask u, as an expert, is it ok to switch between Cypionate and Enanthate?
