i think if you were to cut slits on the top, bottom, sides, and corners of the paper it will wrap around better; kind of like applying a stencil. But you seem to be having great success with your method too, nice work
If you use a candle, will it burn my pumpkin?? I am carving mine and i'm scared if i put a candle in it, it might burn, so is it a good choice? And i really enjoyed this video!! I'll try what you did next year i bet! :> And i only need to find my tools!! So i drew the line on my pumpkin, and i drew a face on it cause my pumpkin is a little small, so a drew a face with marker on it. So i'll be carving! ~Kaitlyn/Kittenkid123
@kittenkid123 One of the advantages of using the light bulb is that you can place it low in the pumpkin, so the bright light isn't seen through the cut out parts. And a burning candle will scorch the top of the pumpkin in no time. Leaving the lid off or at least cutting a hole where the stem is would help some.
oh.. for using a lid, you need to cut a hole in it if using a candle? how big? maybe just leave the lid open? sorry I'm from Poland, I never carved one before, but you doing an awsome job at this, I'm gonna try next year for sure! :>
If you use a candle, then you'll see the flame through the cut areas in the pumpkin. So, putting a light at the bottom of the pumpkin hides the light source from view, and just lights up the inside of the pumpkin nicely.
If you want to use a candle, though, I would definitely cut a hole for the heat to escape, and taking the top off might be even better.
THIS WAS GREAT BUT IT FELT LIKE WATCHING A PORNO WATCHING THE CARVER GO IN AND OUT IN AND OUT IN AND OUT LOL

You can wet the paper a little so that it will wrap perfectly around the pumpkin and you won't have to worry about creases.
