  • Hi, i am looking at building a pond for our RTC, could you tell me is it expensive running a 3kw pond heater and also what temperature does it keep the water at? also the conservatory where the pond is, is that heated as we are thinking of building ours in either a greenhouse or our conservatory. Any info would be much appreciated. Awesome pond and fish by the way.

  • hi mate, it can be expensive but we keep it at 18 degrees and the fish seem ok at that,we will be putting a heater in the conservatory as this winter was cold but we kept the fish covered over with polystyrene which kept the heat in the water, if you need to know anything else just get in touch, cheers

  • Haha, i'm in the same boat as the comment below :P

The closest i got to there were 50 1 inch gold bristlenose i imported last week! haha

Maybe if i make a bit more money from importing and selling fish i'll be able to get one of these

Would be lovely to have one to keep rays as they are so cheap to buy now if you know where to import from! and they are beautiful animals

Interesting to find out more about the redtails, seems to be quite a demand for the pure ones. Would they breed in there?

  • hi mate, you never know they might do, there has been some flirting between one big male and a smaller female, so fingers crossed , it would be a first, cheers

  • beautiful fish man!

i've always thought it would be awesome to have a fish pond. unfortunately right now im a poor college student so i just have to stick with aquariums haha

    cheers!

  • cheers mate, glad you like it....

  • yes mate, try to hand feed all of them

  • how much that monster weight

  • Great vid !!! can you tell us about the construction of the pond and the rts's, what kind of ray is that ?

  • hi,pond is made out of blocks and insulated on the inside, its 9ftx7ftx3ft holds 1200 gallons.

the redtails are 3.5ft long, 26inch and 22inch, the ray is 30inch disc and is a castrex ray. have got rid of the ray and put some other catfish in now, cheers

  • whats the cost to heat it

  • What a nice sight to see! someone who looks after the redtail catfish properly, you have a great pond! they look very healthy and happy.

How long have you owned them?? what are the dimensions of the pond?? Thanks!5 stars from me.
