@Hauntedscotland the series wouldn't have worked if Margaret had laughed at Victor. She is long suffering - and who wouldn't be after all those years of his moaning? Brilliant series, a close second to Only Fools in my all time list.

@Parrock1 very true. within this show, it has to be this way. in real life it would be different though, I think - victor has so much bloody reason to be annoyed, he is always so unlucky...! if you think about it, it is hardly ever his fault if things go wrong. but then again, this is not real life. :-)

@Hauntedscotland Indeed, and this is where the brilliance of the series is sometimes misunderstood. One of the reasons we like it, and Victor, is because he gets pissed off with the day to day annoyances that make us all go grrrr. People who just call him 'grouchy old Victor' miss the point. the problem is, as you say, he just seems to get the raw end of it all the time and his misery would surely drive Margaret mad. She loves the silly old sod dearly though.
