I own a Rover 416 (K-Series) Tourer and it's quite rapid for an estate that cost £300!! It may not be luxury but for value it's unbeatable..... I plan to put a T-Series Turbo unit in from a 620 in the near future once i've dealt with the Brakes and Suspension. So it will be super fast once I remove the rear seats to shed some weight from him. He is only 1100kg Std after all... Forgot to add it's been painted with BlackBoard paint so it's got bags of Character!!!

A standard 220 coupe runs a mid 14 out the box. My 1.6 metro run a 15.3 so thats either a woman driver or a VVC tomcat. If you look at car cost, value and head turning the Rover wins hands down.

these new body Leon Cupra's have the 2.0TFSI engine. 240bhp out of the box. 330+ after a remap and cheap mods. They are no joke !

my rover turbo is 15 years old so it will still be here in 5 years and if that was a turbo it would eat the seat in a straight line prob not round a track tho

What makes them a joke? Its a car, just like any other. Its made of metal, just like any other. Its purpose is to move people around, just like any other. They can have issues or need work, just like any other. But oh, its because it has a 'Rover' badge on it. If they came out the factory with a Ford badge for example then I bet you would not be calling them 'jokes'. Some people really are pathetic with the ignorance and snobbery towards a badge....its a BADGE for christe sake!

well i have a leon cupra mk 1 with a stage 1 re-map approx 210bhp with about 245torque but prev to that my last car was a rover coupe turbo and i loved/love them both in different ways but 4 doors favored me to getting the leon with a little nipper..

seriously though the old rover was more fun to drive, old engineering was great fun ;) but my leon now would have beaten it, (bags of torque :)

if by lsd u minslip diff u sure, also at that age yet another thing that will go wrong with arover they are so unrealiable. also if a split roof is really more of an advantage than a sunroof then fair enough. 1200 bucks for a good example dont think so, yet you cant get a 225 low milage LCR for 7k £700 to revo and boom nealry 300 bhp

slip diff a.k.a.. lsd a.k.a limited SLIP DIFF. the T-series rover engine isn't unreliable, you've been reading too many magazines, the only critisism against rover was the K-series engine which i might add i own one and it's never missed a beat, over 100K miles and the headgasket is fine, keep the water and oil topped up and they are as reliable *but nicer to driver* than all other cars.

Yeah there are lots of cars i prefer, im not a Rover nut if thats what ya think, i'm a Ford man i just like Rover tomcat coupes. Just because people you know have had trouble with them doesn't mean everyone does, depends how you look after it, people i know have and have had no trouble, so maybe they haven't treated them properly. At the end of the day all cars have problems just depends how you treat them.

Ich glaube nicht, dass ein Rover 220 Turbo nur eine 15.8 Zeit fährt.

There where 4 coupes: 216 GTi, 218 VVC, 220 GSi and the 220 turbo. 220 Turbos can do sub 13 times as proven here: watch?v=3rBJRyt8GIg
