I guess the warmest part of the evaporator comes first in any setup (for cooling mode), to prevent moisture being circulated through the area. The coldest bit should do the most work!
@tranefreak1 nope, not at all. the condenate forms on the outdoor unit coils since they have turned into the evaporator .
the reversing valve essentially swaps the coils between being a evaporator, or a condenser. High temp gas from the compressor heads indoors to exchange its heat with the air indoors and no humidity is removed from the air.
@Aussie50 I though of a rather novel way to heat with these things. Use some sort of valve to transfer the gas (after leaving the compressor) to a water boiler and then onto the evaporator, missing the capillary. I wonder if that would work. Are you able to try to make something like that? (Maybe an old kettle element would work!)
@tranefreak1 Danfoss makes a line of heatpump water heaters that use the refrigeration cycle to heat water.
as for making one myself I was looking to make a water chiller for my old work, that could also run in reverse to heat some dies up (different plastics need different die temps) but you always need a metering device.
without a restriction like a cap tube, TXV or fixed orifice, the system will not build head pressure, and thus, only minimal heat from the compressor.
Aussie, Thanks for the vid! I'm an auto mechanic/woodworker and I'm installing a precharged Samsung 12K split heatpump in my home. I could really use a description of how the 3 way valves work. Split systems are more rare here and info is scarce/ HVAC guys seem tight-lipped. The manual describes the steps OK but there is no diagram on how the valves work and I don't want to be ham-handed.
@MeyerG4Indiana the pre-charged mini splits should only need 2 lines and associated cables hooked up, the 3 way valve (reversing valve) is built into the condenser and not user servicable.
If you want to know how it works check out my video called "HVAC Cycle Reversing Valve Exposed"
Thanks for getting back. I could not find any screws, and not get anything loose.... so I went to the second best thing and steam cleaned the darn thing! A jet of steam on the squirel cage does wonders... you could eat off it now.... but do wear a face shield!! Hahahaha.... ask me how I found out!
Man, so happy to find your vid cause I wanted to clean mine and took it appart to some degree, but I need to know how you got to the squirel cage.... can't make it there and you did not show how you took the occilating part off.
@hasbeengood I think there were a series of screws along it and you had to lift one edge up first.
The coil may be sitting on the upper lip of the vent assembly too, if there is any free movement in the lineset you may need to unscrew the coil and gently lift it up 1/2" to free the vents.
I've seen universal remote controls for these things on eBay, I don't know how good they are, how well they work of if they'd work with this unit. What are the risks assoicated with mixing and matching components in this situation?
Cool!, the system runs in auto mode all year round so I don't need one anymore.
If you mix and match components the evaporator needs to be similar in size to the condensing unit otherwise the pressures may become unbalanced and it will freeze up or overflow the compressor accumulator and slug it out.
the other issue is electronic controlls. which usually have to be discarded in favor of manual controlls.
Like always your informative videos rock ! Great work. And it has given us all an oppurtunity to see the build quality of various Split A/C.i.e What is inside...
Thanks for your presentation,And wish to see more of similar videos, preferably Japanese made Daikin & Fujitsu units..in the future.
some fat smelly bitch had that. have cleaned a lot of units with coil cleaner and i hate it when you apply it to the coil and it smells like the fat bitches smelly pussy after dirty sex that owns it. all condensate is :- fart juice, swet, sex juice and other nasty things.lol. nice unit.
i am right. the ones in bead rooms are the worst. you can tell what the fat ladies snatch smells like on a hot day :( lol.its worse if their it a fat man with a gunt.lmao.
I have the same unit working at my place, very good heater. If you check any Fujitsu manual (off the website) it explains that the manual override is a fully auto setting, eg...
Temp below 24C = Heating mode (fan runs very slow until coil is hot)
Temp above 24C = Cooling mode
The set default set point is 24C when using the override .
When using this the fan will be in auto mode, adjusting the speed as necessary.
wow I could really use some of that coil cleaner for that car heater I cleaned out, it still smells like mouse piss :P that was some cool creepy music at the end^^ what's that from?
I've found that non-caustic oven cleaner works well for cleaning plastics and coils without attacking them, as long as its washed off fairly soon after its applied I've never had a problem with it damaging anything.
That music is from the game Half-Life, its called 'Space Ocean'
We've had a similar Fujitsu system (6.8kw) in our house for 10 years now.
Even with a complete tear down and mold inhibitor spray, the mold keeps coming back, worse, much worse than this unit.
Really enjoy these vids : )

What model is it? i was wondering if it would be one of the fujitsu old series.

When used in heat mode, will the unit produce condensation? It seems rather odd if it did happen! Because hot air can't turn moist into water

Glad you like it!, I have many more AC units to troubleshoot and repair, although the electronic controls are usually unrepairable.

thankyou very much for that info!, I'll run it in manual override and see how it goes.
The condensor has a bad compressor so i don't see why this wall panel would be faulty anyway.
