Just read a journalist review about Max Payne 3 (2 levels tested). It seems way better than expected. It's the same old school fighting style, the cover is a joke since the enemies are very aggressive, you have to move constantly if you want to survive. Your life does not regen and Max is fragile, you only have a few painkillers. The story transition is well done, it seems it really feels like Max Payne previous serie. I guess their commercials/trailers really gave us the wrong idea. Hopefully.

Max Payne 3 might have glitzy graphics and great gunplay, but I'll say it now that it will completely lack the beautiful Noir storytelling and graphic novel structure.

And that... will be disappointing.

Honestly, name one current developer that'd be better to work on this franchise than Rockstar. I get being disappointed in the lack of comic-book style cutscenes, but between GTA IV and RDR, Rockstar tells some of the most amazing, dark and mature stories in the industry. And just because it's going to be set in South America doesn't mean it won't be a film noir story. Stop fucking complaining that a game you haven't played is gonna be bad, Rockstar cares about its games!

I'm well aware Rockstar is the shit, I'm a huge fan. They've really only disappointed me on one occasion (GTA IV) but even at their worst their stories are better than anything else I've come across. All I'm really skeptical about is the story and its presentation, as I consider the graphic novel/ poetic approach an integral part to Max Payne. You can't really say there's much of that in the trailers for MP3 so far.

I'm not saying Max Payne 3 is bad (haven't played it), but I'm very cautious about the entire development. Especially since Sam Lake isn't writing it; that is probably what makes me super worried about it, really.
