@antonisbob Thanks, I like it. By the way, noticed that Kim Il Sung, the N. Korea leader that just passed away had 76 Lincolns in his funeral parade. What a sight to see in all place in N. Korea.
These were great cars and the Ford C6 transmission was one of the best transmissions ever made btw does this car have places to inject lube into the chassis parts such as the wheel bearings, ball joints,Control arm bushings,U joints, etc cause I know 60's Fords do but im not sure about 70's ones.
@55lincoln Oh yes these transmissions are smooth but they also rarely fail there was one Ford C6 transmission in a Ford truck that had over 1 million miles and it was never rebuilt.
Wow, nice lincoln continental you have, very nice cars and they are my favorite luxury cars, i also like the 1976 and 1977 chrysler new yorker, and my favorite sporty looking cars are the 1967 and 1968 chryslers.
@operationrepo007 Thanks for enjoying my Lincoln. I enjoy sixties and seventies Chryslers also. Great design and great cars. Particularily like the Cordoba of which I also have a video of an excellent Cordoba within 55lincoln. Check it out if you wish and many thanks again.
I was driving one of these, a '78, in 1982. Dove gray in & out. A total pig as far as handling. But when you pointed this car in 1 direction, it was awesome. It had the 160 +/- Horsepower 460 4 barrel. Gutless pig. But I loved it. Not enough "o's" in smoooooth. Crappy factory Audiovox 4 channel stereo. It didn't matter. Thick SHAG carpeting, power everything. I kept this car detailed every day. Loved it!!
@Thunderchicken1997 Yes, I find that my Linc is a smooth rider but U have to constantly correct the handling. Power steering seems really " loose ". It's not the tires - they're Michelins. But it is so smooooth. Mine has the crappy stereo also and the 460 with the shag carpeting. I love to drive it. Thanks for your experience with the 78 and enjoying my 76.
@55lincoln How is the performance and gas mileage? I spent a good part of my youth tuning my old 429 engine, originally in a 72 T Bird and thence transplanted to a 75 Cougar. There are a few relatively easy things one can do with these engines to really improve the driveability. Let me know if you need any advice.
@SuperOffgrid Performance of my Lincoln is great. Gas mileage, not so great. Around 14 mpg city, 18 mpg country. I use a higher octane fuel in this Lincoln and it runs very well. Thanks for enjoying my Lincoln and commenting.
I dunno bout your lincoln brother, but Ive got a 76 town car with the 460. And although being a boat, it will go like a bat out of hell if you need it to. Those big blocks have got the power. As For handling It was alittle squirly when I first started driving it after inheriting it. But after replacing the Steering box and idler arm, she roles down the road straight as an arrow. I absolutely love her.
@koovidsrcool This Lincoln is a great highway car. Smooth and floating ride. But the gas mileage even on highway driving would be expensive especially with the price of gas. I have to use a higher octane fuel to run the engine effectively. It is a pleasure to drive on any road. Thanks for enjoying my Lincoln.
@55lincoln thanks for uploading the video. yeah those lincolns are awesome thats what a luxury car should be huge and comfort as the first priority honestly i would rather have this than the new linconlns. this one looks like it just came from the dealership
@koovidsrcool Yes, it's in pretty good shape and I have one many awards and trophies at car shows. And, you're right about the latest Lincolns. I think they're ugly. I heard FoMoCo is thinking what to do with the Lincoln Division whether they want to drop it like they did Mercury or totally revamp Lincolns to become more like Cadillacs and Mercedes. Thanks very much for admiring my Linc.
when i got my license i mbay buy an old lincoln here in holland/europe you only pay 40euro insurance a year and no tax most people here drive an VW 35 insurance and 40 taxes a MONTH
i know what i rhather have a car with style and low cost or an ugly car with high cost :)
@dondeadra I'm pleased that you like my Lincoln and hope that you can find a car with style with that low cost. I don't know if there are a lot of older American makes in Europe but here is wishing you find that special car.
@The18Jake I do not like the latest Lincoln products. I really liked the town cars of the 2000's when they were still large and loaded and could still seat six! Sorry you can't stand working on the newer type engines. Thanks again for enjoying my Lincoln.
@tjaikema The only thing I can think of is to go to a Lincoln dealer with all information located on the build plate which I think on the front door frame. Also the VIN which should be near the front windshield on the drivers side. Take all of this info to the dealer and hopefully they can determine the key cut and get a new set for you. Let me know how this turns out.
I drove one of these ( The two door model) in college from 1985-1989. My friends used to all pile into it from trips to the French Quarter. We could fit 6 people, comfortably in a 2 door car! I miss it a lot. Thanks for posting this!
SEE DIG IF YOU GET HIT IN ONE OF THESES CARS YOU ARE SURE TO WALK OUT..NOW DAYS IT'S ALL THOSE FUNKY SO CALLED SAFETY FEATURE ONE HAS TO RELY ON..AND CARS DONT HAVE ANY KINDA STYLE ANYMORE THEY ALL LOOK LIKE ELECTRIC SHAVERS..
@TheButtascotchbro1 HA! Look like electric shavers! Thats a good one! But you know, you're right. I think that these behemoths are safe in an accident except for the lack of airbags. Thanks for enjoying my Linc.
Absolutely fantastic man! beautiful Lincoln man. Maybe we can get the two ladies of ours together at a show sometime lol. I look forward to seeing it in person sometime!
@videoguy604 I drove an '03 Denali XL for about a year and it got much more gas mileage than my 75 Caddy. I think that the Excursion get the same mileage as my DeVille, around 8 MPG
@onnieSinclair Thank you! I like that yellow paint also with the medium brown pinstripe running the length of the car. Thanks for enjoying my land yacht.
Awesome! This brings back memories from when I was a kid riding in my grandfather's red '76. It had the black top and black leather (could have been vinyl) interior. After he died it was passed on to my Dad who let it sit and ruin. I do remember my Mom driving it some but it had the 460 with 4 barrel carb and sucked the gas. My Mom called it her "tank". I loved the fender skirts and the chrome wire wheels. I would give anything to have been able to buy it from my Dad.
@TheConfederateX I can picture that black and red Lincoln. What a beauty that was. Really sad that car didn't survive. Probably had low mileage. Look on ebay to see some really pretty mid=seventies Lincolns. Tanks, I mean thanks for enjoying my gas guzzler Lincoln.
@Geostrategic1 You said a lot there. Thats when they made great highway cars back in the day. Don't see anything new that doesn't resemble a jelly bean car. Thanks for enjoying my dinosaur.
@derekwaa Hey! I'm surprised that you at the age of 16 would want a huge, smooth, luxurious, powerful, quiet, loaded dinosaur like this. I'd thought you'd be like your dad and into muscle cars. Well, you, young man have excellent good taste! Thanks very much for your interest in my Linc.
@derekwaa Once you drive a full-size powerful American luxury car, the 'cars' of today will look & feel like uncomfortable little euro-clones, bathtubs on 4 wheels.
@timm55 I too, love those huge Caddys and have owned a couple myself. I lust after those last huge Fleetwoods. Thats a beautiful car. But, I do cherish my Lincoln and glad you enjoyed it also.
@timm55 They did weigh slightly more than Lincolns. Cadilly wanted to be the supreme luxury car and they were so why not weight more? LOL Thanks for your comments.
@smogpump Yes, and by 1980 these down-sized cars looked ridiculous because of their lopsided and squatty style. So, yes, I agree that these dinosours appear a lot better. Thanks so much for enjoying and commenting on my Linc.
@stutzman2 Man, I love those Marks too! That long hood and short deck, opera windows with the Rolls like grille and padded roof. Gotta get me one of those some day. Thanks for enjoying my Lincoln.
You are very lucky to own this wonderful car. I miss the big cars. I'm a large person and cars are so damn small today. I liked it when full size meant FULL size. Gotta love all the standard power equipment too. You can steer this behemoth with one finger and use one toe on the power brakes. Super over assisted. The front end could fall out and you would never know it from the inside, LOL! Thanks much for sharing with us and keep her in that superb condition.
@storrs19 This is a wonderful big car and it does float over the roads and room for 6 inside and maybe 8 in the trunk! It does steer very easily and those brakes can stop this 2 1/2 ton car great. Thanks for enjoying my Linc and rest assure I take very good care of this land yacht. ( I see you're a train buff. Check out my 3 part model train layout videos within 55lincoln. )
What a beautiful car. I have a '79 Continental. It's great, but there some things I love about your car. If my thinking is correct, this is a stock Continental, without the Town Car option. I love the interior in your car as compared to the Town Cars with their "floating pillow" style seats. Yours is just more elegant in my opinion. I also have a different dashboard in my car, and I like yours better. They were just a cleaner, nicer design. That 460 is nice too. Just a beautiful car!!
@EnzoF288 Ur right! This is a basic Continental without the Town Car features. I'm glad you like my Linc since you have a 79 and you realize what a great ride these Lincs offer. My 460 is so silent that sometimes I can't even hear it. Thanks so much for viewing and commenting on my land yacht. I like it too!
My mother had a '76 Town Coupe that dad ordered from the factory with everything she wanted on it. It was white with a white landau top, had a burgundy interior and floated as it went down the road - a beautiful car. Like yours, the backseat was huge, there were ashtrays and cigarette lighters for every passenger (hers were ever used) and the trunk was gigantic. Thanks for sharing the pictures of your car - very nice!
@kt2le2 OOOH, white on white with burgundy interior. What a beautiful Linc that was. And, these Lincs, they do float. Unbelievable ride. Huge trunk that I kid people stating that it can hold 6 bodies like a gansta car. Thanks so much for your sharing and commenting.
I love this car. I also had the same car. Mine was pale green with dark green interior. My ex-husband sold it one day while I was at work to a man for $500. I'm still angry over it and it has been over 20 years ago.
@bdeakes ouch! So hubby sold your Lincoln for $500? Ouch! I'm sorry for your loss and I bet you still fume over it getting sold. Bet it was a green beauty. Thanks for commenting.
In response to your description of this video I have NEVER STOPPED LOVING THESE LUXOBOATS! It was love at first sight when I was little in the 70s! They truly dont make them like they used to!
@rockerdriver While it's true that this is a gas hog, I love the way it handles, rides, and the spaciousness of it. It's really quite also. I like the luxoboats too. Thanks so much for viewing and commenting.
AWWWWW MAN FINALLY SOMEONE WITH A CAR LIKE MINE! MINE HAS THE LIL WINDOW ION THE BACK SIDE THATS THE ONLY DIFFERENCE. FUCK ANY HATERS, THESE CARS RIDE SOOOOO FUCKIN SMOOTH AND THEY HAUL ASS TOO. NOT TO MENTION YOU CAN HAVE SEXY IN ANY POSITION FRONT OR BACK SEAT LOL. I LOVE THESE CARS......SN: YOUR SHIT IS CLEAN AS HELL BRO...
@KingFreak07 Man, I'm glad you like my Linc! It does ride really, really smooth and quiet! I enter this in shows and sometimes I'll get a trophy in my class. I'm using a higher octane gas and it made a great difference, especially in the wallet. LOL.
@oesbob Sorry, you can't borrow it. My trunk handles 12 but we don't have a drive in around here. So we just cruise around town with 12 of my former closest friends hollerin in the trunk. ; - ) Thanks for lovin it and let me borrow your hot tub.
@Rare92Mustang Apparently this appendage on the air cleaner looks like an oil filter but in reality is an anti-polution device that works with the air cleaner. It's strange looking for sure but it is not the oil filter. thanks for viewing and for your question.
@YoungOldSchoolRapper Bought this in an estate sale. The original orwner died, I bought it so I'm the second owner and have had it for over 8 years. There are many mid seventy Lincs on ebay.
@deeckhardt Thank you very much. I agree that this is better than mercedes, bmw, or Japanese makes in 1976 anyway. But thanks for viewing and commenting. Subscribe to this channel for more rare, restored, or original survivor cars.
@Faztlan This 460 is powerful and yet a very quiet engine. I understand that Ford used this same block in Ford trucks. Built Ford tough, indeed. Thanks for viewing and commenting. Subscribe if you wish.
@MaxTimaro Yeah, Max, I love those old Lincs too. Wish I could get a 55 Lincoln. And I really like all of the Marks! I bet your's is special. Thanks Max for viewing this and liking my '76.
@goodoleboy2008 I luv those Marks. All original and garage kept --my type of car. That 460 engine is quiet too. I never drove mine over 65 mph, but it just hums on the highways. Thanks for viewing and sharing.
@76lincman Man, I would like to see your black 76. I'm sure it looks spectacular in black. I don't plan to sell my either although today I saw a 75 Linc, saddle tan vinyl roof, opera windows, and copper paint, leather interior on a used car lot. I drooled. Subscribe to my channel if you like all car as I do. Thanks for viewing.
Nice car, great to see someone keeps good care of the old Lincolns ....A guy down the street from me is selling a 76 that looks exactly like this yours. I would like to buy it but not sure how hard it would be to find mechanical/electrical parts for the car...not to mention I don't think it would fit in my garage!
I would wait about an hour. Make sure WD40 doesn't puddle on any surface of the engine block. Notice my video how relatively clean my engine compartment is on the Lincoln? This was after several applications and you should have seen the engine bay before I started treating.
That's one cool ride! My daily driver is a 1979 Continental 4dr. with about 63k on it, and I've had fun driving it. I like the looks of those 1975 & 76 models. I think it's the grille I like. (My grille is a goofy square...) Anyway, glad to see you're taking good care of it (yours is MUCH nicer than mine) and enjoying it as well.
Hey, those '79 Lincolns with their Rolls Royce type grills are so classy looking. Hang onto yours and restore it for these late seventy Lincolns are getting more attention every year. Thanks for viewing.
Thanks for liking my boat. Previous owner who bought car new replaced the factory radio with a cheap model. Fortunately, the stock radio I have should install easily. No damage to dash to speak of. Radio knobs are in same place as the original.
i am 35 and i am barely starting to appreciate the BIG smooth riding cars my dream car right now is a 97 lincoln town car cartier model i will do everything i can to find a nice one with low miles this year it is my ultimate goal from a person who has rode in a 90's buick lesabre and an 80's towncar would u say how much smoother did it ride than these cars?
My Lincoln has a superior ride to anything on the market at that time. Despite its hefty weight, the suspension on my Linc would skip over road bumps, pot holes, whatever. An 80's towncar will produce the same cushy ride. Even my '06 Chrysler 300 can't compare to road feel. I can feel every road disturbance with my 300. So, perhaps modern cars can't compare with Lincoln's roadability.
Thanks for your comments and for viewing. Yep, all those large land yachts were smooth riding and quiet. My Linc has gotten more attention and trophies as the years go by, but I really like all cars. View my other car vids. I post a new one once a week.
Youre welcome - I used to be mainly a GM musclecar guy in my youth, but now I appreciate all US makes and models for their individual purpose and place in our history. When we were kids we laughed at the "tugboats" but now fondly remember our parents taking us everywhere in them.
My first car at age 16 in early 70's was left to me after my uncles passing - a '63 Buick LeSabre with a wildcat engine- also a great highway car. I would gladly take it back now.
Just to be fair, I do have a favorite lincoln - the earlier Continental Mark III. That was one of the classiest looking Lincolns ever made. I knew someone who owned a maroon one with maroon leather and I just loved the look of it. Had the 429 and less pollution junk so it really ran on the road. I miss the days when we could have what we wanted in America, not what the government, tree huggers and oil barons forced on us. So glad I got to drive and ride in many of these real
I really like the Mark III's also. This is a classic design and still looks fresh today. If I ever see one in good shape, I'll tape and post it on YouTube. And, if I should have a chance to buy one I might just do that. Really like these Marks also.
- That is one immaculate and beautiful '76 Lincoln. Rare to see one in such good shape. Though I used to lean toward the Cadillac Broughams, Buick Electra's and Olds 98 Regency from that era, I am 50 now and miss -((all))- those large soft riding cars that spoke true comfort and luxury. Nothing today has that smooth boulevard ride, or spacious living room comfort. I distinctly remember how these cars used to float smoothly over train tracks in near silence. Long live the U.S. land yachts-!
Very nice car!

The front end could fall out and you would never know it from the inside, LOL! Thanks much for sharing with us and keep her in that superb condition.
storrs19 1 year ago

EnzoF288 1 year ago
@EnzoF288 Ur right! This is a basic Continental without the Town Car features. I'm glad you like my Linc since you have a 79 and you realize what a great ride these Lincs offer. My 460 is so silent that sometimes I can't even hear it. Thanks so much for viewing and commenting on my land yacht. I like it too!

we used to have a brown one...called it Noah's Ark!
jworcester92 1 year ago
@jworcester92 Thats funny. But it is like Noah's Ark. Brown, green, red, whatever these Lincolns are smooth aren't they?
55lincoln 1 year ago
@55lincoln yeah, my favorite part is when you go through a drive thru REALLY slow...the people are left wondering if the car will ever end
jworcester92 1 year ago
@jworcester92 hahaha, thats funny. I must try that sometime. I believe our Lincs are just about 20 feet long, bumper to bumper.

Thanks for sharing the pictures of your car - very nice!
kt2le2 1 year ago
@kt2le2 OOOH, white on white with burgundy interior. What a beautiful Linc that was. And, these Lincs, they do float. Unbelievable ride. Huge trunk that I kid people stating that it can hold 6 bodies like a gansta car. Thanks so much for your sharing and commenting.

I love this car. I also had the same car. Mine was pale green with dark green interior. My ex-husband sold it one day while I was at work to a man for $500. I'm still angry over it and it has been over 20 years ago.
bdeakes 1 year ago
@bdeakes ouch! So hubby sold your Lincoln for $500? Ouch! I'm sorry for your loss and I bet you still fume over it getting sold. Bet it was a green beauty. Thanks for commenting.

What does that oil filter on the air cleaner do?
Rare92Mustang 1 year ago
@Rare92Mustang Apparently this appendage on the air cleaner looks like an oil filter but in reality is an anti-polution device that works with the air cleaner. It's strange looking for sure but it is not the oil filter. thanks for viewing and for your question.

Hey Dude great car, i own a black on black 76 town car with the oval eopera window on the back.
Mine use to be the lead car for a local funeral home so shes only got about 49000 original miles on her.
These boats are great, regardless of there terrible mileage. I never plan on selling mine.

@76lincman Man, I would like to see your black 76. I'm sure it looks spectacular in black. I don't plan to sell my either although today I saw a 75 Linc, saddle tan vinyl roof, opera windows, and copper paint, leather interior on a used car lot. I drooled.

How long after applying the WD40 would it be safe to start my engine?
88soulsurvivor 2 years ago
I would wait about an hour. Make sure WD40 doesn't puddle on any surface of the engine block. Notice my video how relatively clean my engine compartment is on the Lincoln? This was after several applications and you should have seen the engine bay before I started treating.
55lincoln 2 years ago
I see you take good care of your cars. Very nice, keep it up!

Thanks. This Lincoln is garaged all the time and only sees daylight when I take it to car shows. I keep it polished and cleaned often.

55lincoln 2 years ago
That's one cool ride! My daily driver is a 1979 Continental 4dr. with about 63k on it, and I've had fun driving it. I like the looks of those 1975 & 76 models. I think it's the grille I like. (My grille is a goofy square...) Anyway, glad to see you're taking good care of it (yours is MUCH nicer than mine) and enjoying it as well.
Kolfritz 2 years ago
Hey, those '79 Lincolns with their Rolls Royce type grills are so classy looking. Hang onto yours and restore it for these late seventy Lincolns are getting more attention every year. Thanks for viewing.

qazwsx098321 2 years ago
Thanks for liking my boat. Previous owner who bought car new replaced the factory radio with a cheap model. Fortunately, the stock radio I have should install easily. No damage to dash to speak of. Radio knobs are in same place as the original.

i am 35 and i am barely starting to appreciate the BIG smooth riding cars my dream car right now is a 97 lincoln town car cartier model i will do everything i can to find a nice one with low miles this year it is my ultimate goal from a person who has rode in a 90's buick lesabre and an 80's towncar would u say how much smoother did it ride than these cars?
jungleluv93 2 years ago
My Lincoln has a superior ride to anything on the market at that time. Despite its hefty weight, the suspension on my Linc would skip over road bumps, pot holes, whatever. An 80's towncar will produce the same cushy ride. Even my '06 Chrysler 300 can't compare to road feel. I can feel every road disturbance with my 300. So, perhaps modern cars can't compare with Lincoln's roadability.

I would gladly take it back now.
yambo59 2 years ago
Just to be fair, I do have a favorite lincoln - the earlier Continental Mark III. That was one of the classiest looking Lincolns ever made. I knew someone who owned a maroon one with maroon leather and I just loved the look of it. Had the 429 and less pollution junk so it really ran on the road. I miss the days when we could have what we wanted in America, not what the government, tree huggers and oil barons forced on us. So glad I got to drive and ride in many of these real
U.S. cars!!
yambo59 2 years ago
I really like the Mark III's also. This is a classic design and still looks fresh today. If I ever see one in good shape, I'll tape and post it on YouTube. And, if I should have a chance to buy one I might just do that. Really like these Marks also.
55lincoln 2 years ago
- That is one immaculate and beautiful '76 Lincoln. Rare to see one in such good shape. Though I used to lean toward the Cadillac Broughams, Buick Electra's and Olds 98 Regency from that era, I am 50 now and miss -((all))- those large soft riding cars that spoke true comfort and luxury. Nothing today has that smooth boulevard ride, or spacious living room comfort. I distinctly remember how these cars used to float smoothly over train tracks in near silence. Long live the U.S. land yachts-!
