No. This is not an advertisement for an anime; it is a promotion for the Japanese-translated version of the classic "Dragonlance Chronicles Trilogy."
The Japanese publisher has changed and they re-released it with this extraordinarily childish art.
The cover art for the first print released in Japan of the trilogy by the former publisher looked more mature (pretty much as the same as its American counterpart. I'm ordering them this week to reread in Japanese.

This art style looks more considered than that of the US animated movie (which it appears dropped the ball in all categories).
Maybe an anime adaptation with Japanese directors and writers would bring a fresh approach & higher quality. I don't know how many old fans it would attract, but it would interest many new people if it were good. They say to the right Dragon Lance has sold 50,000,000 copies (I assume the book line), & what about Lodoss War?
if an anime is to be it's sure as heck going to be better than the release to DVD movie that came out a couple of years back...... that thing made me cry
i don't mind retreading, it's the execution that's key. The storyline for the Made-for-DVD production was extremely rushed and lacked any depth.
and after some digging it apparently is a manga, not too thrilled about the character designs though. But that's prolly because I'm so used to the TSR publications cover art.
Well, today in Spain is a day when you say false notice... like "President of the Gobern arrrested for drug dealing" or similar... this isn't a lie, isn't it???!??

Aww, it's adorable. I would only like to see an anime production if they all looked older though, and if they shot for a more mature audience.

So there's not going to be a Dragonlance anime?
I am disappointed. :(

That said, these are light novels pictured.

well, it will probably make you cry all the more if they simply retread the novels like I expect them to.

Lets correct the illusions.
1 - THIS IS NOT ANIME. (fortunately)
2 - Nor is it manga.
Light Novels, are not manga although they may have the odd illustration dotted around.
Look at the description on the right (Pipe it through google translate for giggles too, see if they think 5千万部 is 5 billion copies ...)
"Dragon Lance" (Kadokawa Tsubasa Bunko) 1~3 on sale. etc.
Target audience is early teens.

TSR had some amazing artists, then they were bought by Wizards... which does all cartoony sort of images with some really attrociious designs.

wow Dragonlance, possibly based on the D&D

Is this a game or a novel or what? Anyway, don't fuck it up again with Haruhi, Endless Eight was fucking frustrating.

@AzteKpr1de Just imagine when season two dvd's are out, the two discs of endless eight will never sell XD

@Arro2Xinario
Except for the fact that they've already sold in Japan, about 15,000 copies each. This beats out quite a few less popular anime...
Just goes to show the consumers there will buy shit so long as they have the complete set.
