  • Asian cuisine is always my favorite. It combines the two things I like best, a healthy balance, and spicy.

  • Comment removed

  • The eggs @ 6:30 are called "tie dan" (aka iron eggs), and are absolutely delicious and chewy. I've never had "old egg yolks" before, but if they really do taste the same, I'll take them.

  • wtf getting korean food in taiwan? what about beef noodle soup???

  • I like how he makes food that is really good sound really bad. Like the kimchi. lol

  • @ 6:28 its bobby lee! Why is bobby lee in Taiwan dressed up as a woman??

  • 3:23 ALL OF THAT FOR FUCKING $4!

  • @akonvict in 2007...

  • @Pikazilla taiwan has been on deflation....so shouldn't be too much difference should it?

  • @akonvict I can't even find a dish with so many ingredient in my country for just only $4...

  • @akonvict well, Taiwan has the highest population dining out daily. if everyone eats out, food gets cheap.... and Taiwanese dine out because they work long hours and don't have time to cook...

  • Blood is the best food. Tastes great. Love blood.

In Hungary we allways eat the blood of the killed chicken, pig, or duck. Onion to the frying pan, blood "cakes", ready :)

  • I feel like he should have gone to tainan or kaohsiung... 你要吃滷味!啊啊啊啊啊

  • Fuccck doooo not watchhhh this when ur hungry at night!

  • Did he just use chopsticks?!

  • I've just had a 7 minute long foodgasm

  • this stuff is unusual, but not disgusting. Fast """food"""" drenched in mayonnaise and stuff deep fried in something close to machine oil is disgusting.

  • @Snezhinka9 i guess you would know, lady !

  • kimchi is a korean food.

  • lol i remember that place xD Taiwan was hot in the summer but the 101 tower was something to look forward to, I miss Taiwan.

  • Thats only $4?! Whoa and the quantity is great too.

  • i'm soo hungry right now

  • fuck that is gross. I'll stick to my stake.

  • @mQtek steak

  • @Netburner23 danke

  • @mQtek in your heart?

  • @poosaypirate NUP SPELLING DETECTED :(

  • Nobody shops there except for rich people...he should go to traditional markets

  • "Those are completely disgusting, i love that"

    "Goes great with rice"

Just shows that his tastebuds have given up and gone scizophrenic after all the rotten abuse they get.

  • i LOVEEE pig intestines <3

never judge the food before tastin em~ :P

  • HAHAHHAHAHA that looks like Bobby Lee's mother 6:20

  • Taiwan Fast foods would be considered a resturant in america, id rather eat taiwan food than corn dogs and fking cheese burgers and fried chicken.

  • this is my taiwan. come visit my taiwan its awsome.

  • this show is meant to encourage people to be more open minded and stop racism on food and ignorance from people who are in first world country.

  • Jason's Market that we see in the later half of this video is not a traditional grocery store but rather a gourmet market that caters to the more wealthy and worldly Taiwanese person. A more then half of the groceries here are devoted to foods from western countries. As a Canadian living here I adore it simply because it allows me to purchase foods from home. A difficult prospect here. I much better example would be to show a day market. Most older Taiwanese still by their groceries there.

  • the best thing you guys will ever eat will be Ramens(asian noodles)that's delicious and the naruto in it is just too good u gotta try that

  • at 4:44 where did they get maine lobsters from???

  • after watching these videos... im replacing my red meat and chicken intake with tofu..... anyone know where to get the moist silken tofu????

  • he said he doesn't say " disgusting " ever , aha yeah right .. he said that in this video . =/

  • "Those are completely disgusting, I love that" lol

  • Kimchi is Korean food..............

  • ohh my god, i want to try that stinky tofu, but the first, not the second hahaha¡¡¡¡

but im so far away (México) Lol...

  • @georgemg55 i cant believe that us mexicanos are bizarre for eating cow head.... or cow tongue

  • 1: fish balls are mashed pounded fish and filled with meat

2: if u think pig intestines are disgusting, stop eating sausages... u know whats funny? you even mentioned how we should be eating sausages instead of pig intestines XD sausages are coverd with pig intestines lol, thats how they get the plasticky taste to itt.

  • oooh i been there

  • im so proud he's visiting the country i live in. i don't know how i can survive without taiwanese food when i go to the states for college: (

  • he needs to come to Mexico hahaha¡¡¡¡¡

    food is really good¡¡

  • @georgemg55 lol he already did, the episode of him going to mexico :P and he loves it there

  • "it only cost about 4 dollars us ..THATS bizzare" hahahaha this guy is amazing

  • Reccomendation for foreigners visiting Taiwan: it's probably safer to get food from Taipei 101 than from night markets because Taiwanese people build immunity to unsanitary conditions in night market food, but for someone eating it for the first time, it could make them very sick, so be careful!

  • America is limited on their food choices and whatever other countries eat is gross to them but actually some foods are tasty but others, I might not try myself lol and American food is more fattening and unhealthy then other countries food.

  • Man...Taiwan is the bomb! Love visiting Taiwan, back about 6 years ago, while working as a Field Service for high tech company, I get to visit Taiwan quite often. I love the food, the people, bars and pubs, night market, hot pot, you name it, there's all kind of variety of foods in Taiwan. Taiwanese people is friendly and easy to talk to. Hopefully, I'll get a chance to visit again someday.

  • my god...this show has so many mistakes its disgusting...

hot pot is not originally from Japan, but its originated from China.

    f*cking retarded white people.

  • The show never said that Hot pot originally form China. He meant Japanese hotpot as an Japanese style hotpot.

  • and we like our own style hotpot, japanese just copied us. espeically when he showed it at 2:22 thats not Japanese.

japanese hotpot isnt big in taiwan, simply because its not as diverse and flavorful.

he just doesnt know anything, which is not that surprising anyway.

  • give him a break. My Cousin from Taiwan thought Lincoln was shot by black guy from a Taiwanese textbook. At least he is smart enough know Taiwan is own country. Lots people still think Taiwan is part of Japan or China. Peace.

  • well sorry that your cousin is a retard.

and no, i dont want to give him a break if he wants to humiliate himself on international television. they have enough budget for him to travel everywhere but not enough to get some facts straight???

  • At least he called Taiwan an independent country.

  • lol houchi i support you

  • dude almost everything japanese is from china.. even their language..

    that goes with koreans too

  • great on rice? EVERYTHING's great on rice yo xD hahaha

  • Being Taiwanese makes me so sad to see how expensive food is here in America. I can't go out eating anything here in America without checking up on my checkings account.

Also for anyone interested Taipei 101 isn't the BEST place to get the best food, but its probably much more sanitary and prepared for foreigners. For local foods it takes a little getting used to because of the difference in preparation (its generally common knowledge to any traveler and can be applied anywhere foreign)

  • kuriix: i don't think anyone would like to attack tpe101 as a target. plus it's really safe. next time u visit Tw u can definately go visit :D great view, and at 39F u get a nice cafe, great view there too :P

overall, i can tell most of you from this video, u can get cheaper prices for a variety of food like this, but because it's in tpe101, a landmark and business building, u get it slightly more expensive. food variety n price in Tw is truly surprising. ;)

  • WATCHING this, is an ADVENTURE !

  • Dude taiwan food is cheap, good, and a lot less fattening than american food.

  • @flapplewapple korean bbq for 4 US dollars????? ........... ::packed his bags::

  • @kaneda956 It's a stall food version. Not as good as restaurant quality ofcourse but it does its job. Why's he reviewing Korean food in Taiwan? It took me about 3rd or 4th visit to try out some authentic Taiwanese food. It's good stuff if you know where to go.

  • @flapplewapple suck it

  • Im taiwanese and ive been to taipei 101.

    It isnt scary at all.

  • that building is my nightmare i'd nevergo up there.

ever since 9/11 i've been fearing being in high buildings you never know when they decide to jam a plane in it for no apparant reason

  • lol! completely disgusting i love it!

  • and you probably make $4 per hour washing all those dishes! (or less?)

  • holy crap, $4 dollars for korean food (*___*)

i wish i lived in taiwan

  • omg how can he get on top of the building and stand outside and look down? D: uhh... that scares me. lol im scared of heights D:

  • that's definiteley the best job in the planet

  • 2:45+ sounded like someone said to Andrew.... "HEY GODZILLA!" lol

  • he's right, i did end up wanting that food :(

  • i tasted blood jello before heh

  • It's reassuring when the people serving you your food are wearing surgical masks.

  • they are protecting themselves from hot pepper steam and also acts as sneeze guard you smart alec...

  • I need to go on vacation badly.

  • $4 USD? dam, i gotta go there

  • The cool thing is that unlike american food business, taiwan cooks wear a face mask when cooking!

    that is definitely a plus.

  • the thing i love about taiwan is they make food from other countries even better (most of the time)

  • A lot cheaper, too.

  • andrew zimmern needs to learn to chew with his mouth closed if he's being filmed eating. kthx. i think that's universally rude/ignorant.

  • it's all perception btw

  • in other cultures, perhaps.

    zimmern is american.

culturally, in america, chewing with your mouth open is considered rude.

    eh, this makes more sense.

  • like I said, it's all perception :P

  • eating with your mouth open doesn't warrant ignorance or being rude. because some people dont follow a certain eating dogma you follow doesnt necessarily make it ignorant. different cultures and upbringings cause others to act differently.

  • like i said. zimmern is american. for an american, he is being rude and ignorant by chewing with his mouth open.

  • maybe your definition of culture might be different from mines. the culture i'm speaking of doesn't just include nationality. it encompasses ethnicity, family, city, how a person is brought up etc.

  • I love the guy...but I notice that he really, really likes animal balls. I don't know what to think about that.

  • kimchi is good ,im russian and they even have a bunch of it over there =)

  • kimchi is really good. You can get it here in the states pretty easily.

  • kimchi is not spoiled -.-

    it is only fermented

  • those taste good dip shit, that sidharrata@!#!@!# guy doesnt know his shit!!

  • it's hard to know if the thing he was trying is truly good...

  • 4?! wow! i wanta go!!

  • coz the restaurant market in taiwan is too competative. u can have anywhere around 50 - 60 restaurants in a 500m radius in a metropolitan busy area. The st where i live in have abt 30+ restaurant, and my st aint even the busy areas!

  • lol well i guess its a small island so good for the customer i guess lol what stuff do you eat?

  • I could have sworn Taipei 101 was the tallest building in the world as opposed to just the second. Well anyways now that's another spot to add to my list of places to visit. Too bad I visited before the building was completed.

Wonder if Taipei 101 has those flat escalators where you can carry your shopping cart from one floor to another; they had a couple stores with those kinds of escalators, and I thought it was pretty cool

  • Taipei 101 is technically the tallest building because it can be fully occupied. Burj Dubai will take the technical title when it's finished this year but it is taller.

  • thats true. but it aint finished yet :)

  • Don't think this guy, AZ, knows anything about Asian food.

  • natural sauerkraut?

    sauerkraut is natural too!

  • OMG, I remember Mentai when I was in Korea as a youngun.

I haven't had it since I was three or four.

  • " eughh, its disgusting, and i love that" lol i wanna try that.

  • not sea urchin, sea urchin eggs

  • dang!! makin me really hungry

  • 4 dollars food? I should live in Taiwan!

  • with the exchange rate right now 30something to 1US, 4 dollars is already on the expensive side. Food court is usually more expensive than regula restaurant.

Over there, MacDonald's is consider a somewhat expensive food.

  • I see.

However, McDonald's should be considered to be expensive, imo. Those taste like crap!

  • 101 is "second tallest"???? It's still the tallest building...Burj Dubai hasn't officially opened yet.

  • my friend burj al arab has been open for over a year noww

  • Burj Dubai, not Burj al-Arab. Burj Dubai isn't scheduled to open until September 2009.

  • fukkers stole my wind ball idea...lmfnao.

  • I think the foods so far haven't been that unusual, except maybe the manatee. I don't think i'd be too hot on the stinky tofu from the restaurant, but i might try the stinky tofu from the streets.

  • Taiwanese food FTW my fellow western friends.

Asian food we got in Europe is nothing like it, i suppose the same for America.

  • Even less so, my friend! Ours is a greasy shadow of it's ancestors. At least (Most of the time) you have the indiginous people of the culinary type you're eating preparing the food for you :3

I'd say 40% of the time, my "asian cuisine" has been prepared by Indians, Mexicans or South Americans. Truely abhorrid. (Although there is ONE place in Crofton, Maryland that does AMAZING mexican-indian food called "La Fiesta". Anyone in the area should try it out).

  • Haha I used to eat dried shrimp with rice when I don't have anything around the house to eat.

  • this guy better not fart

  • lol

  • i can't but notice that he likes any kind of egg

  • hmmmm...kimchi!

  • how does he not gain 500 lbs

  • i think the filming crew also eat some of the food

  • i love blood cake!

    its delish!

  • sushipeep, cheers... definitely delish

  • The first time my sister and I tried sushi I couldn't take it. Now it's starting to taste good. My fav. Asian dish is beef lo mein.

  • Most people who try exotic food do not like it the first time they try it. It's unusual and it can have a WHAM effect on you because it's not something you've ate since you were out of the womb. I find small bites over time, getting an aquired taste for it, that's when you like it.

  • i love 101's food court...

  • i enjoyed this series.

i only eat basic Asian food like

    Porkfried rice, EggRolls, Avacado sushi

i dont like spicy food either,

i know- but when i tried something different

    i usually dont like it.

  • sounds like americanized asian food :P

  • Yeah that's not real asian food dude...

  • Not Real? I get it at Chinese restaraunts

Pork fried Rice & eggRolls & Sushi

what do you call "Real Asian food"?

  • If you go to Taiwan/China you'll see that the food they eat there is way different than the Chinese food in America. For example in Taiwan they don't actually have Egg Rolls. They have pork fried rice but it's different. Just go to Asia you'll see what I mean... the food in American Chinese restaraunts is made so Americans will like it. It's nothing like the food you'll actually find in Asia.

  • After seeing these videos i don't think i wanna try Bugs & Real food.

I had durian waffers & i couldn't even eat one.

  • Haha well It's not like what he's eating is real food, either. The Taiwanese don't usually eat this weird stuff. The food they eat is just normal food, but It's not like what the Americans think of as "Chinese" food.

  • @redsith thats part of why i barely survived my trip back to china.... i was craving sweet and sour chicken and im 100% chinese

  • 6:23

Wow, they got special guests now? Bobby Kim (MadTV) dressed up as a girl again? Not surprising in the least!

  • Oops i meant Bobby LEE!!

  • jgng

  • I'm gonna have to disagree with Korean food in Taiwan. I've tried it,(by the way I am Korean) and it was not good. If you want good korean food, I can only say Korea and Los Angeles lol.

  • lol, you might be right.

  • this dude would kick ass on fear factor haha

  • only the eating part though.

  • lol

  • In response to treetree, so that makes you one too, so quit flaming and get out of the closet or grow up... Theres nothing wrong with what people do or like in the bedroom...

Anyways Great vid, I really like to try that MENTAI? (the salted fish roe) not sure if I spelled it right.. Is there anyone in Southern CA, that knows where to get it?

Thanks for posting the vid : ) and sorry about having to give childish people a response...

  • hahahahahahahaha the funniest sound ever at 2:46

  • Are they all wearing face masks for sanitary purposes?

  • Yeah, it's becomae a standard after SARS.

  • "those are completely disgusting, i love them." hahaha

  • buddys gotta work on his busted assed teeth before he keeps eating

  • I think I saw this building being built on the national geographic channel.

  • Last time I checked, Google Earth's pic of Taipei has it half-finished. They may have updated it since then, though.

  • why can't we hav asian food court.. Gosh, loooks so much more stuffs then american food court.

  • that food he had at the restruant in the taipei 101 food court. i ordered the exact same thing

  • Taipei 101 WOOT

  • yeah I do want that

  • I went to Taipei 101 and had ice cream there. Haha. This lady kept talking to me in Taiwanese...and she didn't understand when I kept telling her I only spoke mandarin...I should learn Taiwanese.

  • haha same thing happend to me lucky my mom was there.

  • Kimchi is Korean!!

  • yea. but they still have it in taiwan.

  • Japanese you fool!!! All things Korean are invented or given by Japanese.

  • if you're thinking that way you definitely mean, Chinese.

  • That's a lie! Everything was made by the Dear Leader Kim Jong Il, the greatest chef in the world!

  • Canadian, go home.

  • "Those are completly disgusting; I love that." so fucking funny

  • I visited Taiwan many years ago..Beautiful country.

  • I've had the blood jelly...yum.

Oyster Omelette is my favorite! I miss it!

  • "put the lid back on there are children in the market." Hahaha!

  • I went to the Taipei 101 food court a couple of times when I was there for work. I wouldn't say anything there is bizarre but it was dirt cheap if you are used to paying US$8 for a bowl of noodle in West LA...
