The eggs @ 6:30 are called "tie dan" (aka iron eggs), and are absolutely delicious and chewy. I've never had "old egg yolks" before, but if they really do taste the same, I'll take them.
@akonvict well, Taiwan has the highest population dining out daily. if everyone eats out, food gets cheap.... and Taiwanese dine out because they work long hours and don't have time to cook...
this stuff is unusual, but not disgusting. Fast """food"""" drenched in mayonnaise and stuff deep fried in something close to machine oil is disgusting.
Jason's Market that we see in the later half of this video is not a traditional grocery store but rather a gourmet market that caters to the more wealthy and worldly Taiwanese person. A more then half of the groceries here are devoted to foods from western countries. As a Canadian living here I adore it simply because it allows me to purchase foods from home. A difficult prospect here. I much better example would be to show a day market. Most older Taiwanese still by their groceries there.
1: fish balls are mashed pounded fish and filled with meat
2: if u think pig intestines are disgusting, stop eating sausages... u know whats funny? you even mentioned how we should be eating sausages instead of pig intestines XD sausages are coverd with pig intestines lol, thats how they get the plasticky taste to itt.
Reccomendation for foreigners visiting Taiwan: it's probably safer to get food from Taipei 101 than from night markets because Taiwanese people build immunity to unsanitary conditions in night market food, but for someone eating it for the first time, it could make them very sick, so be careful!
America is limited on their food choices and whatever other countries eat is gross to them but actually some foods are tasty but others, I might not try myself lol and American food is more fattening and unhealthy then other countries food.
Man...Taiwan is the bomb! Love visiting Taiwan, back about 6 years ago, while working as a Field Service for high tech company, I get to visit Taiwan quite often. I love the food, the people, bars and pubs, night market, hot pot, you name it, there's all kind of variety of foods in Taiwan. Taiwanese people is friendly and easy to talk to. Hopefully, I'll get a chance to visit again someday.
give him a break. My Cousin from Taiwan thought Lincoln was shot by black guy from a Taiwanese textbook. At least he is smart enough know Taiwan is own country. Lots people still think Taiwan is part of Japan or China. Peace.

Being Taiwanese makes me so sad to see how expensive food is here in America. I can't go out eating anything here in America without checking up on my checkings account.
Also for anyone interested Taipei 101 isn't the BEST place to get the best food, but its probably much more sanitary and prepared for foreigners. For local foods it takes a little getting used to because of the difference in preparation (its generally common knowledge to any traveler and can be applied anywhere foreign)
kuriix: i don't think anyone would like to attack tpe101 as a target. plus it's really safe. next time u visit Tw u can definately go visit :D great view, and at 39F u get a nice cafe, great view there too :P
overall, i can tell most of you from this video, u can get cheaper prices for a variety of food like this, but because it's in tpe101, a landmark and business building, u get it slightly more expensive. food variety n price in Tw is truly surprising. ;)
@kaneda956 It's a stall food version. Not as good as restaurant quality ofcourse but it does its job. Why's he reviewing Korean food in Taiwan? It took me about 3rd or 4th visit to try out some authentic Taiwanese food. It's good stuff if you know where to go.
eating with your mouth open doesn't warrant ignorance or being rude. because some people dont follow a certain eating dogma you follow doesnt necessarily make it ignorant. different cultures and upbringings cause others to act differently.

Taipei 101 is technically the tallest building because it can be fully occupied. Burj Dubai will take the technical title when it's finished this year but it is taller.

Over there, MacDonald's is consider a somewhat expensive food.

I went to Taipei 101 and had ice cream there. Haha. This lady kept talking to me in Taiwanese...and she didn't understand when I kept telling her I only spoke mandarin...I should learn Taiwanese.
I went to the Taipei 101 food court a couple of times when I was there for work. I wouldn't say anything there is bizarre but it was dirt cheap if you are used to paying US$8 for a bowl of noodle in West LA...
Asian cuisine is always my favorite. It combines the two things I like best, a healthy balance, and spicy.

I went to the Taipei 101 food court a couple of times when I was there for work. I wouldn't say anything there is bizarre but it was dirt cheap if you are used to paying US$8 for a bowl of noodle in West LA...
