Tom Scott, Becker Brothers, Benson,Donald byrd, Aztecca and of course all the Latino band incorporated horns, violins, bass with percussion to perfection.
blood, sweat and tears, Chicago, Buddy, jj and the holding co, and tower of power blended horns and rock guitar too perfection at that time. There were many band in the 70's who people wouldn't give them a chance today. Most of whom are now in the hall of fame. Music is creative no matter who sings it or what style. Enjoy all of it while you can. PEACE, OUT.
Cuando exista alguna banda hoy día que tan solo se acerque a lo que hace éste tipo me avisan, porque la verdad que se fué todo a la mierda después de los gloriosos 70s!
I love this song, it brings back some really good memories. When I was in college my favorite Pensacola, Florida radio DJ use to close his show every night with this song.
to edbull: though Buddy could play guitar fairly well, he is not playing the lead on this song. It is Charlie Karp playing the solo through the Leslie speaker.
I had this album (vinyl) 40 years ago when it first came out. That steady tap of 8th notes on the muffled hi-hat through the verses is SO soul of the day! I still have the album, but it is basically unplayable...kinda wore it out. I was always curious who the horns were, and who wrote this arrangement with horns in it.
One of the all time artists & bands of all time. Reminds me of my high school days.Great jam
Great memories behind it.Cool to hear such a heckuva tune once again.

This was the first version of the song that I encountered. Didn't hear Greg Allman's until a year or 2 later. Love the horns!

There also a version like these recorded by the R & B group the Nite-Liters. It was titled "I've Got Dreams To Remember."

Although I love the ABB version (hell, I should), Buddy's version is the one I always think of. So freakin' cool...
The man was a treasure. Long live his memory.

is this the same song as molly hatchet.

@paulhouston Actually this is the version that bridged the gap between The Allman Brothers Band version and the Molly Hatchet version.
