  • Mick Floey put my ass in the seat!!!

If anybody knows what i mean:

    Give me a Hell Yeah!!!

  • Hell Yeah!!!

  • Hell Yeah!!!!

  • " "READ THIS IT REALLY WORKS!!

1st-put ur hands on ur chest

    2nd-think of someone u like

3rd-2marrow the person will ask u out or say i LOVE u

4th-the catch is to write this for 5 vids

  • Look at the crowd...IT NEVER gets that exciting anymore. Wrestlemania maybe the taker hbk match...but it just isnt as exciting as before. I still watch it hoping and hoping that it will get as good as what it was. But with cena and batista and orton main stage all the time it just wont happen!

  • that'll put a lot of butts in the seats... ahahaha suck on that tony schiavone.

  • this was back when wrestling and wwe was good

  • wow now THAT is a pop! Crowds don't pop like that anymore. RIP Attitude Era

  • it's funny that out of all of the wrestlers shown in this video, there are only TWO that are still wrestle with the company.

  • and in 10 years time most of main guys now will be gone

people dont notice but there is an extremly high turnover of wrestlers in wwe

  • man no 1 gets a pop like this at wrestlemania nowadays let alone raw!!

  • This was one hell of a pop!!!

  • one of the best moments in the attitude era

  • Damn what a pop, when stonecold come's out

  • Mic Foley put my ass in this computer seat that I'm watching on Youtube ;)

  • That sure put some butts in the seats.

  • stone cold Hell yeah!!!

  • Awesome win

  • One of the greatest Moment in WWF-Histroy. And the crowd when Stone Cold cames.... Insane

  • You'll never hear a pop like that again in today's WWF. Even if it was Stone Cold or the Rock that made an appearance, the crowd isn't the same genre as it was here. Then it was all attitude and it was not for kids. Now its for kids and all the kids like now is Cena, who isn't that great.

  • The reason you won't hear a pop like that again has nothing to do with the fans. Wrestling fans haven't changed. Sure the ones that were at this particular event are a bit older now, but fans in general are still capable of massive pops like this. The problem is that WWE doesn't seem to know how to get the fans excited anymore. Take this match for example: I don't know when it changed or why, but you'll never see a heavyweight title change hands on cable television again, unfortunately.

  • That's very true. Wrestling made you actually care about good vs bad in the day. Nowdays its all about having to like Cena and hate whoever he faces, but ironically the fans see through it and they purposely cheer the bad guy. Cena is an entertainer yes, but hes not a wrestler. He can sell you an item and he can make you laugh, but hes not made for WWE. I think, at least, WWE make him a heel. Maybe then the fans would actually care more about him then.

  • Y2J beat batista for the WHC in a cage match on RAW in late 2008

  • ITT WE FORGET ABOUT CM PUNK A FEW MONTHS AGO.

It's called money. It would've been a lot more not only entertaining but also profitable if they would've made that moment meaningful and saved it until a PPV.

  • Before the attitude era, it was for kids. It became for kids the moment the Hulkamania thing sat in. It wasn't until around '97 when WWF started to change direction and that was mostly due to ECW influence.

Today isn't really that bad. Not as good, but it's still better than a tag team mourning over the loss of their dog or their top champion whining about a leather jacket being stolen.

Cena's decent, a lot better than Batista. At least Cena tries to improve for his major matches.

  • that is so true. Everyone else just complains that nowadays is bad and blame it all on Cena but Batista (In wresling ability) is the worst wrestler on the roster. Cena is far better than Batista. Not saying that Cena is the best because Edge, Y2J ,orton, HHH are much better wrestlers than Batista and Cena. but don't blame it all on Cena and the PG rating. The truth is that none of the wrestlers nowadays put as much into wrestling like the old wrestlers did. Even ones there now from old days(HHH)

  • Some guys put effort into their craft. MVP, Punk, Morrison, and Dibiase Jr. are some of the newer generation of stars who I believe are honestly trying to give what they can to the product.

Nowadays, if you mention Cena and you're not a kid or a woman, you're considered "just a mark" which is incredibly unfair. Cena may not be the best, but he's decent to watch. Again, he at least tries to improve on his major matches unlike Roidtista who just relies on his opponents to make him look better.

  • well Morrison is a great wrestler I think. U watch Morrison vs Umaga this Smackdown?? Great match. But CM Punk i think is a bad wrestler. Too boring and all the same moves.

  • Unfortunately, I helping my brother with his truck on Friday, so I only caught a little bit of Smackdown. Part of it including the first portion of the Umaga/Morrison match.

Punk's a case of WWEism, meaning that half of his material is taken away due to being in a major company that wants to try and keep injuries down low while still trying to half 3 - 7 minute matches.

In ROH, Punk had a LOT more freedom, having 30 minute matches and capable of using a variety of moves.

  • Great night but sick of people thinking WWF won the ratings from here on out fact is they never it went back and forth from the two for a little while. Why are you glad the WWF won, I didn't want them to lose but would of been great to still have thw WCW?(1996-98) around!

  • back when the king used to be a great commenator.. now he sucks

  • Comment removed

  • Stone Cold is GOD!

  • oh hell yeah Mick Foley

  • lllllulz

  • go on to this its funny Funny Fall and scream

  • im sorry to say but no The Undertaker defeated mick foley before and another match again with undertaker vs mankind but Kane comes in and helps which is cheating. and again mick foley is cheating for Stone Cold help

  • when you hear the glass, its your ass!

  • holy shit crazy crowd for stone cold!!!

  • yea.. they talk about pops and everything nowadays.. now that is a fucking POP!, lol

  • I remember when Mick Foley started his own vineyard, and began bottling wine. That's some damn good wine. Good thing he did that and didn't try to keep wrestling way past his prime.

  • just think that he wont the tna title last night and how long ago was this.sad for tna

  • back to the glorious days of wwe.....

  • holy shit hear that pop lol

  • Schiavone was not responsible for that statement, that was pure Eric Bischoff, as Mick states clearly in his written works. We all see where that got him. Bitchoff's (mispelling intended) greatest accomplishment was getting Verne Gagne's coffee.

  • foley winning the title + fingerpoke of doom = the end of wcw

  • Foley is a god among ants

  • On that night, when Tony Shaivone said "Mick Foley, formerly Cactus Jack here in WCW will be winning the WWF World Title. Man, that'll put some butts in the seats" HA well it did put butts in the seats and that was a bad move because right when he said that, i bet you, thousands of people turned off Nitro and put on Raw. What a fucking idiot!

  • thats so true edge lita i remember i mainly watched wcw back then and as soon as tony said that i along with about 4 million other people promplty turned the channel to raw and the rest as they say is history i ultimatly believe wwe would have still eventually won anyway god wrestling used to be so good remember this was monday night raw the pay per views now arent even this good raw used to have like 8 or 9 matches a night now at the must they give you 5 wrestling is a shadow of what it was

  • Just over 300,000 to be exact. I still take that night as the moment when WWF pulled away from WCW for good.

  • I knew it. It was a bad move for WCW the whole time and i think after the ratings came in, they probably realized that.

  • FOLEY FOLEY FOLEY

    still gives me chills

  • the crowd wud never react like that today!!

i miss the old wwe =[

  • FOLEY FOLEY FOLEY

  • Comment removed

  • just anthor way the hall of famer told vince to fuck you

  • look how much pop thier was back then 90's wrestling was the best

  • i thank tony for telling me about this on WCW Nitro. I always supported the WWF but after this moment, i was WWF all the way

  • unbelievable pop... btw which version of mankind's theme song is this? I like the remix of it...anybody knows?

  • It's the one before the car crash one.

  • This video makes you realise how shit the WWE is today awesome back in the day TNA ROCKS!!!!!!

  • agree toataly apart from the part about tna

  • everyone has an opinion hahaha

  • this was the raw that was pre-taped, and on nitro bischoff spoiled it to wcw live on tnt, and more than half of his viewers switched channels from wcw to wwf. wcw never had better ratings than wwf from this night on.

  • Ow that was a proper chair shot to the rock

  • ahh the good ol days....

  • You couldn't of asked for a better ovation. Long live Austin. He always had the best pops.

  • They do't even show blood anymore. Same with hardcore matches etc.

  • Jesus that was one hell of a pop for austin

  • I was at this match. Incredible pop!

  • Thats a huge pop xD

  • well it certainly took the wwf long enough, people talk about what a great night this was and it was but if you were actually a fan at the time many were sick and tired of the lame screw finishes that they were doing at the time

  • Look at the crowd cena dont get even half of the reactions like back the attitude stars did. thats ur fault wwe if u choose to make a programm for little kids and teenage girls.

  • Cena certainly gets more boos and jeers than the attitude stars and its not because of playing the heel character well.

  • holy shit. the old dx.

  • i believe he won the world title 3 times in his whole career

  • what a pop. the crowd loves mick!!!

  • Brought a smile to my face - I miss the good days of WWE.

  • love jerrys heel comentating

  • With a little help from Stone Cold Steve Austin, and WCW.... HUH, THAT WILL PUT SOM BUTTS IN THEM SEATS...LMAO

  • wont find a crowd like that now days

  • Don't they plant mics in the crowd now days anyways?

  • Not heard that, but they do put fake cheering in. Bit like canned laughter (when they do a sitcom and theres no audience so they add fake laughter), but cheering to make it seem better.

This match wasn't fake though, this was back when Vince McMahon was a genius and booked matches to make the crowd go crazy like that. It was matches like this one which meant WWF's triumph over WCW

  • One of the many reasons why Austin deserves to be in the HOF.

  • The night WCW winning the ratings was over!! thank u tony!

  • THIS IS WHAT I CALL A CROWD now a day its always so quiet

  • damn i miss pops like this!!

  • I guess that was the "stone cold surprise" HBK had been talking about all through the night prior to this. lol.

  • Loudest crowd reaction of Austin's life. I get chills everytime I watch it.

  • I definitely agree with you. i remember this so vividly. When Austin came out it was the loudest i've EVER heard the crowd pop. I also get chills watching it because i remember getting so amped when the "glass shattered" that night. Look at the crowd stand when austin's music hits, it's amazing. I haven't watched wrestling in like 7 years, it's just not the same.

  • What a Pop, this is when the crowd were actually there to watch the wrestling instead of looking around all night

  • i gotta say the loudest was HHH Jan 2002. They blew up when his music hit, and when he walked thru the curtain they somehow got even LOUDER. was rediculous

  • Im not trying to start a war im just saying listen to the night linda mcmahon annouced stonecold was coming back to help rock he wasn't even there and that ovation blew my speakers on tv HHH in 2002 was nothing compared to that!

  • bloody awesome..........this is what the wwe needs to be nowadays..........CONTROVERSIAL

  • SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Crazy

I hate Vince he destroys wrestling with his family entertaining plan.

  • i know. WWE is a joke nowadays b/c it's a fucking kid show.

  • I don't care wat anyone says, the pop austin got is THE biggest pop of all time. Jesus christ, you can't even hear King and Cole talking whenever his music hits and the crowd reacts and starts going fucking nuts.

  • Man that pop from the crowd was the best. You don't hear that nowadays, all freaking little kids in the crowd cheering for gay superman Cena.

  • i know. I miss times like this. this was back when RAW was so UNpredictable and so fun to watch. Nowadays, it's so boring and it's a fucking kid show.

  • greatest crowd ever probably..

  • Man, look at the crowd. How long since we've seen a pop like this in the WWE these days?

  • yeah wwe sucks

  • My dumbass was watching Nitro when this happened. I was 9 at the time so I was caught up in the whole Wolfpac shit so I was happy to see Hogan join the Wolfpac.

Now that I look back on it, I wanna kick myself.

  • Cool Story, bro.

  • What a pop for Austin.

  • Wrestling greatest days!!

  • I hate how Shane screams when Mankind gets on the mic and says "I did it!"

    Shane's like "YARRRGH!....ARRRGH!". Fuckin retard.

  • look at the hand at :32 awesome

  • i went to wrestle mania when it happened in la back in the day i remember all the stuff that happened and i also remember when wwf/e brought the attitude era to the great western forum in la i was proud and still proud that i was in the attitude era audience and all i got a say is never again will you see a crowd so alive like it was during those days NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!

  • well, it's gon be EXTREMELY hard to top the attitude era and the greatness of it, but we really don't know if we'll ever see anything like it again. We can't see into the future. We could b/c impossible is nothing rite??

  • Why was Kane just standing there?

  • Goddamn this match was awesome. Didn't Foley lose the title like, the next night on RAW? That was a heartbreaker.

  • This was Raw so there was no raw on the next night. Anyways he actually lost it back to the Rock at the Royal Rumble in a "I Quit" match, which is one of my personal favorite matches ever.

  • Right my bad. That match was fucking brutal. You gotta hand it to Mick for taking like 10 unprotected chair shots and then lose the title.

  • the rock sucks

  • Comments here say "It was all Austin" and "Wow! Foley!!", but when it boils down to it, it was simply a case of the Perfect Storm. The most popular stable in the history of WWE, the most over wrestler of the attitude era, and one of the most respected and under appreciated entertainers ever to enter the ring finally getting his due.

    God, I love this!!!

  • AUSTIN RULES!!!

  • I have never, in all my 20 years of watching WWF/WWE, ever heard a crowd erupt like that !!!

The biggest superstar in the business ever ..... Stone Cold Steve Austin !!!

  • When you hear the glass break. Biggest pop I've ever heard. My favorite wrestler of all-time is The Rock and this is still favorite moment in WWE/F history, even though he jobs!

  • foley wouldnt have got that kind of pop of austin didnt come out and help him.

  • god damn, these were the fucking days rite here. The days with OUT cena and when wwe (i mean wwf) was NOT a kid show. i miss the attitude era. R.I.P. ATTITUDE ERA (98-02)!!!!!

  • OH HELL YEA

    MICK FOLEY!!

  • STRONG ISLANDS FINEST!!!!

  • God I miss when wrestling was like this so freaking gay now :(

  • BIlly Gunn FTW

  • The greatest night in the history of wrestling........

  • Ah... I miss the good 'ol days of WWF glory.

  • January 4, 1999 the night that changed the Monday Night Wars

  • Exactly.

  • Tony Chivonte put my ass in the seat, and I watched it. Thanks WCW! Ha Ha !

  • Great pop! Great result! I remember turning the channel fromNitro to watch this because Nitro said it happened. Call me old fashioned, but I think the best pop still was the Dragon beating Macho Man at Wrestlemania III. However, add the Rock v. Hogan Wrestlemania 18 (I think) match when Hulk got over again and you might have the best wrestling pops in history.

  • eric might have regreted ordering his commentators tell the result with sarcasm,

mick foley put my ass on this seat!

best pop ive seen, austin deserved HOF

bringing the best entertaiment to us fans

  • The Pop for austin was Crazzzzyyyyyyyy

  • my god i havent heard a pop like that in ages. cena will NEVER get a pop that huge.

  • Agree 1000000%.

It's a shame that we don't have THIS kind of entertainment and "lines" anymore.

  • whats a pop???

  • its the crowd reaction. when sum 1 on here drops a comment saying " what a pop" or sumthing, hes talkn about how wild and loud the crowd got

  • FOLEY! FOLEY! FOLEY!

  • this shit makes me cry

  • The guy who does the Botchamania videos put the "butts in seats" comment in one of his videos...how cocky they were in WCW.

  • You know you're a legend when your meer presence makes the crowd go apeshit.

  • WWF was the best.

  • 1:08 that look on Vince McMahon's face is pure hatred for Stone Cold!

  • must be hard to act that way when stone cold is making ya millions

  • go to 33 sec and watch everybodies hands go up at the same time, its a shame that fans arent like this anymore

  • Shame wrestling isn't like this any more.

  • fans aren't like this anymore b/c they have nothing to cheer about nowadays. Back then, they had something to cheer about...

  • holy crap the crowd went crazy for austin

  • sorry meant the Crowd

  • That crown eruption rivals the one when stone cold saves the rock. What happened to the clip of that?

Nothing beats the crazy eruptions of STONE COLD

  • By the way, did you ever know this would but some butts in a seat?

  • I was there....Teusday, December 29th, 1998, a taped RAW.....I was 14 years old....there was a huge blizzard that day and my parents almost didn't even let me go...I'm so glad they did....by far the greatest sports event I've ever been to, nothing compares to THAT Austin pop unless you were there, it was fucking amazing! What the tapes dont show is that Foley came back out for 2 Curtain calls! we just kept callin him back out...The ovation afterward must have lasted 45 mins....

  • He took off his mask and started cryin...it was unbelievable....Does anyone remember the match before this? Road Dogg vs. Al Snow for the Hardcore Title....They actually went outside the Centrum and fought in the snow! That match was also epic! Def. 1 of the top 5 RAWs of alltime and I was one of the lucky few who was actually there! Nothing in wrestling even compares to the emotion of that building, that night, well, not anymore at least...it almost felt real....IT WAS REAL, THAT NIGHT

  • woooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I remember going to this show in worcester the loudest pop in history for the rattlesnake haha

  • My god, when Austin's music hit that was one of the biggest pops I've ever heard. God I miss these days.

  • omg i love those crowds they so alive unlike these days

  • is it me or is the rock always getting screwed over in his title matches when theres a twist to the storyline?

  • Hell yea!! During the monday night wars.. such good memories... great video.. that pop from the crowd gave me chills...AUSTIN hall of fame 09!!!

  • Those were the times when Raw was the coolest stuff... damn, look... Rock, Austin, HHH, Mankind, Kane, Bossman, Test, Road Dogg, Shamrock, etc. Excellent performers, amazing crowd!

    and what we have now?

That prototype of superman(crap) john cena that never loses a match that has no talent, dead crowds full of little kids and so on... I mean c'mon... what a outstanding main event: the rock vs mankind, with all those good performers on ringside... and now what we have??

    cena and roidista?

    CRAP.

  • hey guys hear the crowd......dont ya just miss that sound

  • Dammit Michael Cole, alright alright, we read his book too lol.

  • damn man i thought the exact same thing, "he lived on the floor of motel 6's" ahahaha what a lil twat michael cole is

  • That (Mick winning the belt) is still the loudest pop I think I've ever heard.

  • This was also the night where WCW had an incident called the "Fingerpoke of Doom" So happy that WWF won the Monday Night Wars. WCW was a wreck compared to WWF at this point and would never win a weekly rating in the war again.

  • WCW got lucky when Biscoff came up with, or stole as there is evidence that a similar storyline ocurred in Japan, the nWo angle. That was the one angle, the absolute only one, that was executed with only mior flaws in the history of that company.

  • Bischoff is the first to tell you that there are only 5 angles in the sport: man vs man, woman vs man, man vs group, woman vs group, group vs group.

  • "Ha! That's gonna put some butts in the seats." Yes Tony Schiavone.. yes it will.
