Tangier is one of the most awful places a westerner could ever visit - STAY AWAY. Even if you are a seasoned traveller, you will be exposed to just about EVERY nightmare an experienced tourist could encounter. I visited for a day and was harassed by locals and the police. It was a very unpleasant experience. This was BEFORE 9/11. I've heard that our only mistake was to visit Tangier - apparently the rest of Morocco is quite nice.
