One of the problems of the USA political system (probably the least democratic of all developped countries...) is its duality. American politics, like most politics around the world, has increasingly become dumbed-down to good-guy/bad-guy storylines, where each side just demonizes the other, arguments are seen as signs of weakness and beating around the bush, and humiliating the other side seen as the ultimate victory.
Does anyone else realize where this is taking us?

@macdaddylorenzo It's taking us down into a soap opera. All those tactics you mentioned are essentially the only viable options in congress to gain votes sadly enough. If you take a sedate purely fact based approach the people will find you boring and be indecisive in voting in your favor. Sad but true, sad but true. Our representatives SHOULDN'T be swayed by such tactics but we forget that - just like us- they are mere humans.

Ok, you don't like the perceived drama, that's totally subjective. I don't think you could say its inherently good or bad and it's not like it is something we can control. What's more important is his words and I think it would help you if you put his dramatic attitude aside and focused on the meaning of his words.

@damerz0405 You are one of the very few who hope in that, I wish others were able to go by the facts rather than theatrics. My comment was pointing out that although the facts and ones actual choice of words should be scrutinized and weighed, the public (including congress) pay more attention to such theatrics instead. For the sake of votes and thus getting what you want to get passed, you need to grab attention rather than make a point. It is a very sad and unnerving truth about people really.
