I didn't play through the story mode four times to retread the story again, mind you. Just to play it again in a directed experience.

But some of the characters are actually a bit endearing, if not at all deep or dynamic.

Honestly still a game I enjoy. I actually still go back to it occasionally, 4 years later, over many other DS games typically considered "better".

I don't know why. Maybe because I never get any better at it, and I'm only decent. Regardless, I've played the story four times spread out over the time I've owned it, racking up quite a few hours.

I really liked the one for gamecube for its gameplay, I didnt think the story was all that bad. It was rather bland and you could tell who bad guys are but the rahu robot made it slightly interesting I think. Great review, I'll probably get this when I see it.

I think it's a good review... quick but good. And I think explaining how good is the story is relevant for a video game rating but the Story rating vs Final rating should depend on what was the main goal of the game (like the story in Unreal tournament). I didn't play this game yet but it seems that theres a tons of talks within the story. So the story SHOULD matter. Also, I think the game is described by itself by just looking at the video.

I understand what you mean by a bad story, but everything is generic. I thought Halo's story sucked. But I'm not going to focus on that. You just cant sit and say the story is bad. Its for kids (mainly) so the story is going to be crappy. This is Zelda, its not supposed to be epic. Its just supposed to be good beat em up fun. Besides, the Story (for a nintendo game) is pretty decent, since it ramps up in the end.

yea the wiping the dirty of the robot is pretty creepy when you have to clean its groin area. the game play is awesome though, i am yet to play online, since i only got the game today

i agree with the customisation being just right for a game of this size for the DS, armored core was rediculous, there are about 10 different things you can do to fine tune your engines and weapons, crazy complex stuff.

I really disagree with you.

Whether there are clichés present or not, the writing and plot are written well enough to compel, and there are plenty of elements points to back it up.

Try and make sure tou have your facts accurate for things like the play time of the game, "a couple hours" is way off the mark for a game that will give someone 10-15 on a speed through, and even more on a completionist run.

i agree with metalmusicunion the story line in the gamecube one is great it is about the kid but hes not trying to be the best hes trying to complete the mission that he encounters to live on his fathers legacy. It's not about collecting or being the best its about defeating the enemy and the final scene at the end of the gc one explained a lot to the story and made me say: Wow! Thats pretty crazy. I don't want to spoil it but the gamecube story line was great. I have never played the ds one tho

@MetalMusicUnion Yeah, as soon as he said Custom Robo: battle revolution's story was bad, I couldn't trust the review. That game seriously had one of my favorite stories in a game ever. It actually surprised me multiple times which is what I look for in a good story. Nothing is worse than a story that tries to have "twists" but ends up being extremely predictable.

I liked this story, but not nearly as much as the gamecube one.
