@BCEMCOCATb I do, and it is pre rendered, look at the way this collapses, strictly rules, check a crysis collaps for ex. barrels, you must see the difference
@IBartOnAir pal, it is calculated in rt. I can move any of those cubes with mouse in any point of time. You can see it is lagging a bit, which wouldn't happen if it wasn't rt physics calculations. It collapses in such a way (columns breathe a bit), because there's a penetration constant set so. Srsly, educate yourself on the subject and stop posting bs.
8. With precalculated physics you can get ANY result you want. Usually it is made for non interactive scene to get very high quality physics. E.g. in CG graphics or in game scene rendered on game engine.
9. Most 'Crysis Barrel' demos are not real time. If you managed to read info to them you would understand it. E.g. in this one "Crysis Physics - 3'000 barrel explosion" watch?v=YG5qDeWHNmk
10. If you still think it is precalculated or 'prerendered' as u say, I feel sorry for you.
@BCEMCOCATb I'm not fighting about which is better, Crysis, or GMod (Source if a modified version of Havok :P). But in my opinion, I like Crysis a bit better because of the mass graphics + physics. Though, it requires very expensive hardware, so I play GMod more because my GPU or CPU won't melt ^.^
@FlyingLaptop I totally agree with you, physics capabilities in CryEngine 2 far exceed physics capabilities in Source. But 7 yo Havok version that Source uses has nothing to do with contemporary Havok. Nonetheless it was jaw dropping when HL2 came out.
I would really like to download this... but they ask for my occupation, what i will "distribute" etc. I just want to mess around with it privately?! What do i fill in? i don't have any job.
@FRURMELLL it doesn't matter what you will fill in. But I'm assuming your occupation is Hobbyist, intended use Educational, and u plan to Use Privately.
i never said it was easy im just saying with all the technology out there that someone would make an amazing physics game that does everything to maximum capability starwars:Fore unleashed tried to in the first level and then gave up.... so they can do it they just dont want to
Consoles have nothing to do with it. There are few great physics engines, including this one and you don't need any money to use it or at least to try to use it. The only limitation is current hardware.
"Theres no point in physics atm as it doesn't alter gameplay."
For one consoles are far more popular, most people wont develop PC exclusives anymore, let alone PC ports.
No really honestly tell me when physics actually alter gameplay? Zomg, mirrors edge has curtains, Batman has paper and gas? Physics is a joke atm. And will be for a long time. Especially hardware accelerated physics.
@CutOutSock Try upgrading the hardware on your console.. Oh wait, you can't. You have to wait for an all new, better console to come out and dish out 500+ bucks for it. PC has lots of advantages for those who don't just want to go with "far more popular" consoles.
@CutOutSock Physics does alter the game play, without a good physics engine, players wouldn't be able to jump, and if they did, they wouldn't come down. Also, games like Half-Life require an impressive physics engine to be playable.
Try doing that in HL2 or Garry's Mod. 100+ objects colliding with each other at the same time makes the game completely unplayable. If this is possible in real time, then Valve didn't do a very good job integrating the Havok engine.
This demo is optimised for calulating physics for identical low poly objects, and I don't think that physics quality is high. HL2 was not supposed to calculate such amount of obects, it was unnecessary. Why to implement it? And we should take into account that HL2 uses different (more old) version of Havok.
No offence but what the hell is with Americans seeing something that even remotely looks like a building colapsing and them thinking of the world trade center? (If you are American)
Well im kinda Italian and kinda American, but the only reason i thought of it is because I live in a state REALLY close to New York and where the towers were and i could see the smoke and just got really like not really obsesed with it but i got into research about it.
I downloaded the 997MB .zip, how do I use it? (P.S. you need to make a tutorial on how to get these. :))

@BCEMCOCATb But look how this thing collapses, this isn't anything like Crysis, the beggining is waaay to symetric
IBartOnAir 1 year ago
@IBartOnAir
1. they are symmetric up to the point when columns start collapsing with each other.
2. That's exactly what should happen when u have equal states and the same calculations.
3. Learn what 'render' means. It is applied only to graphics, not calculations.
4. For calculations you had to say precalculated.
5. Havok is RT physics engine.
6. This demo is RT and interactive.
7. You can see it yourself.
