dude..... i'm so not getting that squeal sound you get.... it just kinda sounds like the note... do i gotta hit it hard or something? trying to learn this and pinched harmonics, cant seem to do either (Mega discouraged sadness frown)
GREAT TUTORIAL, i'm big Van Halen fan and i kinda learn the tap harmonics using 12 fret up a long time ago but never thought of using 5 or 7 fret up until i saw your video..THANKs for the great tutorial.. can you post a video of the same concept but using Pentatonic scale? Nuno Bettencourt always use tapharmonics with pentatonics run sounds awesome...also correct me if i'm wrong; In Michael Jackson's song Black or White there's some kinda of pentatonic tapharmonic i think halfway on the track?
Your just awesome! This is something that I have been looking for but couldn't find it until my friend recommended your site. I have been trying to join your guitar site but I'm having trouble doing it.
@licksnkicks Hey thanks a lot. I was redesigning the site this week and it caused a few issues as usual. But everything is fine now if you want to subscribe. :)
carl.. i trust your name is carl from previous posts. just a quick word to say the world needs teachers like you. ive been playing the axe for 17 years now and its so refreshing to see stuff like this without some pro showing off his own skills! begginers take note! i wish i had a guitar teacher like this all those years ago!!
Hey I was just taking a look at some of the material you have on your website ("Understanding Major Keys Quickly And Easily"). You refer to the order of sharps and order of flats. I thought I'd share with you a mnemonic that can make it very easy to remember the sequence, because it makes sense both forwards and backwards: Farmer Charles Goes Down And Ends Battle / Battle Ends And Down Goes Charles Farmer
Hope that's helpful; your youtube lessons certainly are.
Carl its hard to believe you actually answer us ...instead of saying go to my site sign up get your credit card out and you can watch my old pre-recorded lessons,
Mitch..
ive been playing for about 30 years, how does a person gauge where they are a see where they need to take it up a step,,,
@space4warp Hey Mitch, that's a tough question. I think it is impossible for me to see where I am at in my own playing. I feel like there is so much left to do I don't even know where to start. Much less find the time to work at it. :)
The number one thing I think most players should do is always try and find new things that interest you and start incorporating that into your playing. It keeps things fresh and will always keep you improving. :)
@GuitarLessons365 You sir, should invest in a better microphone. That'll definitely take this up a notch production wise because the guitar knowledge is already there, you just gotta match it with your output quality.
@nikthedik007 Hey thanks for watching!! For all of my lessons I play my EJ signature strat through a Line 6 POD X3 Live. I can usually get some pretty cool stuff out of it. Cheers!! Carl..

Do I need to tap above or below a fret? For example I want to do a harmonic from the 7th fret and I tap on the 19th fret, should I tap on the fret wire above or below 19?
@holleywierd I am tapping right on the fret wire, when done right it feels almost like you are popping the top of the fret kinda like quickly tapping a table top with the tip of your finger. :)
This is one of the most helpful guitar lessons I've seen. I knew about tapping 12 frets higher but not about 4, 5 and 7. This opens up so many new doors. Thanks for an awesome post. Thumbs up all the way.
"Women in Love..." by VH is a great example of this as well. Great intro to that song.
Awesome lesson btw...I just learned how to play "Little Wing" on your site, thanks for all the work you put into these videos! It make my life much easier. Thanks again.
@tenyearsgone09 Hey thanks a lot!! He uses this technique in the Panama solo which is in the new song lesson poll on the site. Be sure to get your vote in!!
And thanks a bunch for supporting my site, I couldn't do these lessons everyday if it wasn't for Subscribers like yourself. :)

@Tykusrocksout Tap directly onto the 19th fret, not above or below. That will produce the strongest harmonic. Cheers!! Carl..

What a great lesson on one of the best rock guitarist ever.
As always nobody says it better Carl
I think the only reason Eddie does not get the credit he deserves is because his style created some really not so good bands that tried to copy him.
Truly a great lesson.
Thanks again Carl
