  • wow i was at the edmonton concert a few days after this one and it was way more rowdy!

  • His voice sounds amazing here. Not doing any growls has atleast helped him rest his vocal chords.

  • Comment removed

  • wtf he lost weight! he was so fat when i saw him in concert lol XD

  • tss pinche emocion de ke van a venir a mexico ha huevo

  • next time you go to a opeth concert, shut the fuck up, headbang and enjoy the divine music!!

  • nice video, thx buddy

  • why the fuck is that crowd clapping to a tempo faster than the song? MESSES IT UP!

  • lol @ the discussion on the previous pages.

Saying "people don't like it because it's NOT METULZ AND HAS NO GROWZ!11!" is extremely stupid.

I listen to a shit-load of prog rock, especially from the 70s (where Heritage comes from musically), and I can think of countless prog rock albums that are better than Heritage in every way.

They dried to be a darker Camel with this record, just not as good.

  • Some cool parts, but this is a very boring 7/10-ish album... especially since I waited almost four years for it.

This track is one of my favorites of the album.

  • They will be in Uruguay for the first time, can't wait to see them!!! \m/

  • some assholes joking about the Opeth, there is a fuel station in our country its name is "opet", I really fucking pissed off to hear about "yeah i buy fuel from 'Shell' why dont u try it bla bla" shut the fuck up your mouth biatch!

  • In germany- munich were so many assholes who talked while opeth played !!!

this is music you have to feel! Don´t talk !

  • I'm learning this on the guitar, and it's so damn hard :(

  • shit

  • Who the fuck talks while Opeth is playing?!

  • @DallasCowboysmx Yea I know??? I saw them last night and these two dumbasses were having a really loud conversation during this song!!! seriously...go to the fucking bar if you're not that into it!

  • @DallasCowboysmx cool guys, obviously

  • @DallasCowboysmx dumb people

  • I like this version better than the studio one.

  • Opeth is wasted on a metal crowd. You want "brootal metalz" go and watch some band with an illegible logo. You want fantasticly diverse prog/folk/fusion/metal watch Opeth. I hope their next tour will be a join headlining tour with Porcupine Tree because PTs fans know how to fucking listen to music.

  • @essengeebee

The funny thing is that if we look back 4 years they have had played progressive death metal, which is exactly what they are/were. Opeth have always been a progressive death metal band.

Have you ever seen the roundhouse tapes? Opeth are certanly metal! Metal with melody and harmony, and lots of it!

But now they have changed the stile on this new record, Damnation were still opeth sounding, Heritage are the new opeth, which i hope and think changes back or forward, in a good way.

  • great album.. i wish i will be there

  • dont fucking clap in every song dipshit americans

  • I think they've been listening to King Crimson. Great Opeth album

  • At first I didn't like this album, but by giving it a chance it eventually become one of my favorite album.

  • someday im going to see them.

  • I saw them in Atlanta Ga...kick ass show...

  • stupid claps

  • I swear, it's like having to hear the screaming chicks at a Beatles concert. These dudes never shut the fuck up. At least you can actually hear the band though. Great song!!!

  • mikael ezan okur gibi takılırsın artık. sana

çok pis kafa göz girişesim var.

  • god i hope they come out with another live dvd soon

  • I want to throatchop the guy talking in the crowd. Shut the fuck up you cunt, christ.

  • Opeth fans can't fucking clap to a rhythm to save their lives, holy baby jesus christ. I saw it first hand 10/25/11 in Denver

  • I think this is their best work so far. I have not touched the rest of the albums since I've gotten my hands on Heritage, and it looks like it's gonna be this way for a while.

  • Хорошая группа и хорошее живое исполнение

  • I feel the da-ua-ua-aaa

  • ive been creamin on this video for a while now. it still rages my romp

  • Heritage is a great album. All of you can stfu.

  • if you don't like heritage, you were never a real opeth fan.

  • @Eschatosguitarist Bullshit. A real Opeth fan wouldn't be afraid to be critical of them and not be a blind fanboy like you.

  • @xBrutalMetalheadx perhaps i should elaborate. i believe that heritage is a natural progression for them, and what it sounds like to me is opeth's sound minus the death metal and black metal influences. all the people who say that heritage sucks because there is no growling on it are not opeth fans, but death metal fans who put opeth as just another band on a long list of heavy bands, and once they do something that isn't heavy, then it "sucks". THAT is bullshit.

  • His vocal technique is even similar to that of Ian Anderson.

  • STOP CLAPPING YOUR FUCKING HANDS..!!!!!!!!!!

  • RIP OPETH :(

  • Mikael Akerfeldt has lost way too much weight

  • American metal audiences dont know how to shut the hell up.

  • @nunobelo So fucking true. I had to tell this group behind me to shut up 3 times...

  • STFU N0000bs!!

  • fantastic! so pumped to see this song!!!!!!!!!!

  • STOP CLAPPING

  • yeah, they can't shut the fuck up. last opeth show i went to. there was this cunt who kept whistling, attention seeking whore... even the losers who knew him got pissed... and then there were the fuckers who couldnt whistle but had to yell or scream ever 2 seconds. and then there were the fuckers who had to clap at the quiet interludes - at least fucking clap to the rhythm. that's why i FUCKING HATE going to shows.

  • I would be so displeased to have to play in front of these people. Metal fans, mostly the kids who feel the need to be outspoken and make useless immature commentary, are such a bad representation of everyone who listens to this music. Simply listen, enjoy, and shut the fuck up.

  • and when in Chile ah!!!!!

  • i hope with the earplugs in mike cant hear the clapping and the disrespectful banter. crowds are the reason i stopped going to live shows.

  • problem with earphone? he cant hear well :/

  • after this, there will be 2 kind of opeth fans.

and they will be enemies of each other.

    heritage vs. blackwater park ?

    I DON' THINK SO!

  • Cannot wait to see them with my brother in December. Got my tickets! Ordered the orange vinyl of Heritage as well! :D

  • I was at this show and I can attest to the crowd being a bag of dicks. the 9/21 show seems to have brought a better crowd from the footage. If people don't want to hear what Opeth has to bring this tour than stfu or go home. There were way too many people at that show. It was overbooked and the show would have benefited from less asshats.

Some jerk spilled beer on my sister while pushing his way roughly thru the front. This wasn't the type of show for that.

  • Who goes to an Opeth show to have a chat? I'd be pretty pissed off if I was playing a song and some people managed to have a conversation through the entire thing.

  • Ah I can't wait for them to play in Holland. I will be there \m/. And I agree stop the hating, try to be open minded. Opeth deserves the best they have really worked hard for this album! Give the album the time it deserves to grow.

  • I was at this show and the crowd was fucking awful.

  • I hope there are no imbeciles TALKING during the songs when I see them in December. Shut up and enjoy the music. If you don't like the new direction, stay at home, and make room for the open minded music fans. Find another generic death metal band to listen to and stay away from Opeth, who are clearly not for you. I am disgusted that these haters are the most vocal. They do not represent us. It gives Opeth, and progressive rock in general, a bad name

  • @TheAdam159 I agree, people are very closed minded, I thought they put on a great show!

  • @futuredeath excelente opeth- desde argentina-salta

  • @TheAdam159 You're dead right. Don't talk during Opeth... I wouldn't say it's a new direction though. This isn't the first mellow album they put out. They change it up every time! Because they are OPETH!

  • @TheAdam159

Opeth are and I qute the man "Death metal"

Opeth have never done progressive rock before Heritage, which is harder to accept for people who have listen to Opeth since the beginning, unlike people who started listen to Opeth after watershed, or when they became famous for real.

I buy this change of identity, but i still think it's music he should have done in another band name.

Because this isn't progressive death metal and the influences is no longer influences, it's the real deal.

  • @Hedeskog89 Damnation wasn't straight up progressive rock?

  • @TheAdam159

Damnation still sound's like opeth.. and have you heard all other 8 albums?

When i first heard the leak out of this album I seriously thought someone were just screwing around.. Sure, some of the songs are great and sounds like opeth quite a bit. But the sound is different, and opeth have always had a very unique sound.

And to answer your question, no.. It was Opeth. This isn't Opeth, maybe the new Opeth... But I'm hoping this is a one-time thing.

  • I love the album, don't get me wrong.. But i only buy this huge change because I believe that it will make the next album something really Opeth!

  • @TheAdam159 Crazy! This exact same thing was happened in San Diego. They complained through every heritage song. If you don't like Opeth any more STAY THE FUCK HOME!

  • @TheAdam159 Totally agreed. In fact, since a few years now, I've started considering not going to shows anymore, which really sucks considering that I'm actually into the music... Hot topic kids on the front rows stands there talking to each others and yells at Michael whenever he's looking at their direction while I'm in the back with no room to headbang and actually singing the songs, but I might as well sing to my dvd player at that point...

  • @TheAdam159 I hate how all you new fans are in denial that Opeth once had death metal influences. Opeth has always been a metal band with multiple influences. Stop playing the "open minded" bullshit card as well. Myself and many others have tried listening to the album multiple times, but disliked it. A close minded person would not have listened to it in the first place. I am sick of these pretentious prog rock fans who bash metal and its fans. Without metal, there would be no Opeth.

  • @TheAdam159 "Find another generic death metal band to listen to and stay away from Opeth, who are clearly not for you."

And just how fucking shortsighted isn't this statement? Wouldn't their affection for Opeth show that they're NOT just fans of generic death metal, something Opeth never, ever were? With all due respect, sir, are you dense? Almost all of their previous albums have been at least as diverse in their influence as Heritage.

I am disgusted that pretentious fans are the most vocal.

  • @SiGhast Hes trying to say that in fact if you cant accept the fact that opeth are doing things differently now then you dont deserve to be an opeth fan and opeth arnt for you because opeth as a band are not just the same ablum after album so find a band that are!

  • @teela24ecw I got what he's trying to say and I highly disagree. An Opeth fan is like any other fan: Human. They expect greatness with every new release. Something in accordance with their taste. With such a radically different direction, it is more than understandable that someone -- as a fan -- wouldn't take a liking to it. That doesn't mean they aren't true fans of the band as a whole, or closed-minded. It only means they aren't going to listen to Mikael Åkerfeldt fart and call it art.

  • Bottom line, everyone has their own taste. Tastes just differ. I hate when people throw words like "closed-minded" at people as soon as something appeals to a limited audience (which they belong to). Again, "pretentious" comes to mind.

I don't dislike Heritage, but I'm not a huge fan of it. On the other hand, I enjoy metal a lot (obviously), the genre of drum & bass, and I love orchestral music. And still, I would classify as not being open-minded because that one style doesn't appeal to me?

  • @SiGhast

close minded means in my eyes, people give a certain song/band/album one (or no) try and say it sucks, without really giving that stuff the chance to grow on you - basically what progressive music is all about.

there are really people out there who constantly are bitching about bands, even if they just change the sound just a tiny bit

open minded in my eyes doesn't alway mean you have to like one style - you just have to accept that a band wants to change things and that's it

  • @Failhaid Thanks for your input. I don't think TheAdam159 sees things your way, though. At least I didn't take it that way, mainly because of that line - "find another generic death metal band to listen to". For me he lost all credibility there.

I agree, though, that these kind of albums are growers. And yes, there are without a doubt many who dislike Heritage solely because it's not very metal. But there's a middle ground. That's important to not neglect.

  • @SiGhast

i know what you mean.....and i know what he means. and i also do not completely agree with that comment.

i just agree on the point that people should not come to concerts just to say it's bullshit what opeth does nowadays...

i also love brutal death metal and also this new stuff of opeth, but that's again were the open and close minded thing comes along.

i wrote that to him because i think that the haters are closeminded, but also he's kinda like that....

  • @SiGhast

and with "haters" i mean those people who constantly are bitching and talking about posers or sellout-bands who change to much or whatever the fuck....

i thought the opeth-fanbase was an openminded fanbase, but unfortunately there are also some ignorant fuckers....not you though, you say you can't get into it, and that's ok to me :-)

  • @Failhaid Ah, yes. I would definitely agree that people who cry "sellouts" as soon as a band tries something different are pretty closed-minded, in that sense (not musical taste as much as their view of what a band should be).

  • @SiGnage yeah I see what you mean its nice to have a reply to comment that is Ignorant as shit! But then again it comes down to opinion if you are constantly bashing opeths new album because they didn't stick with their heavy roots I think its wrong as in a way that's selling out he didn't want to do another heavy album he wanted to express what he was feeling in a different way he himself said that not everyone's going to like it

  • agreed. Besides, their roots lie as much in their haunting melodies as they do in their heavy stuff IMO - its not like they haven't done a more restrained album before. damnation anyone?

  • @TheAdam159 I saw Opeth last month and I was so annoyed by all the talking and half the people not even listening or paying attention....I wanted to smack them all...I really couldn't believe it

  • @TheAdam159

well, they could at least listen to Bloodbath, where you still get Mikael's growling vocals and brutal riffing.....

i don't know why people are such close-minded fuckers....this album needs a couple of tries, but once it grows on you it's amazing, am i right? :-)

  • bad monitors, mike's using putting the hand on his ears

  • This clapping and talking is so fucking out of place. Will you enjoy the songs? This is no party music. Hope such idiots will stay away from their gig at Munich...

  • Did they just play their new stuff or did they play some old songs?

  • @TheWebster66 They played a lot of new stuff, some old but no songs that requires death metal vocals, which people may disappointed.

  • @futuredeath O good I love clean vocal, im seeing them in a couple of weeks!

  • @TheWebster66 they played some older (and obscure) stuff but a lot of new songs, and no death metal growls during this show, which means any song w/ the vocals was not played - they sounded AWESOME, it was a good show, but it felt like something was missing. Please no one challenge how big of a fan I am that I was let down that 85% of their material was pushed aside. I love Opeth, had a great time at the show, but was very shocked at the length of the show (it was short) and song choice.

  • @TheWebster66 They are probably just playing songs with no growls for the Heritage tour, I'm sure they will put them back in the rotation when this tour is over. I can't wait to see them!

  • Is that the 1st or 2nd show?

  • @mocool13 This was the first show!

  • Comment removed

  • Will the crowd SHUT THE FUCK UP?

  • @ryanb113n They're not as bad as the fucking crowd was in Spokane Washington. Those faggots made me embarrassed to be in the audience.

  • @ryanb113n Totally agreed! Saw them in Manchester last week and the crowd was so fucking disrespectful. Opeth were fucking mint but all I heard for the entire show was metalnobheads saying "this is shit," "this isn't metal" and "worst gig I've ever been to" while Opeth were on stage playing this fantastic music. WTF do they expect? Mikael has been saying his death vocals have been suffering since Ghost Reveries and Heritage is a really dynamic album with no growling at all.

  • I love this song, I love this BAND, and nothing will ever change that.

    Long Live Opeth.
