Its really interesting this, you can tell when a predator is in the vicinity by the behaviour of the prey, its the best indication. I walk my dog on a field where a local guy flies his Lanner Falcon, there can be hundreds of birds singing but when he comes on the field and flies it, they all go totally silent and cannot be seen. I totally believe this, im fairly confident that there are no breeding populations but its completely possible that a nomadic great white could have been there.
great whites have always been found all-over the uk, its just that we don't have any attacks because its too cold to swim and not too many people do watersports here.
This is so pathetic. The shark was 50 yards away, there's no way of telling what species it was. I garuntee it was a basking. Not only that but theres loads of others it could have been....
I swear as soon as a British person see's a shark fin they immediately assume its a great white and it wants to kill them. Grow up...
@drbangbang13 Not true, British waters have not changed through global warming (not yet anyway) The fact that Britain does not get Great Whites in it's waters is simply a mystery, the conditions are absoloutley perfect for Great Whites.

Whats the natural range of the Great White Shark? Apparently Great Whites are not normally found in Britain.
