  • Great T.V. Show.

  • I went to Port Merion for my father, I didn't know anything about the prisoner! Then we bought the whole series for him on DVD and now I must be the only young person I know who knows and loves this series!

  • TIMELESS

  • love that The Clash took a bit of this theme and used it in their song 'The Prisoner'

  • I never liked the filing system at MI6 during the 1960s, bloody cards kept missing their intended slots in the filing cabinet and would invariably clog up the entire system.. and that card dispenser unit was rubbish, flick...ping...clog... and now can i find Russian cold war dissidents of the late 1950s from H-Z? no i freaking well can't, thanks fancy filing system... thanks very f*cking much!!! you... you... this is years of repressed nonsense coming out... you...

    anyways thanks bye.

  • @pcvideogamer Your comment is just hilarious. I just keep on laughing.

  • This is the kind of World liberals want us to live in. Unless you like tyranny then don't vote liberal.

  • @MrBEB123 Obviously you have NEVER seen this show, so stick to your bananas like the good little reterded mongoloid crap eating monkey you are.

  • @ryoushii You have misspelled retarded and yes I have watched episodes of this show. You write like a obnoxious middle school student.

  • this is probably the best tv showI have ever seen. I wrongly suspected that I wouldn't like it since I am not that in to 60's aestetics and absurd style... but when I watched it I was hooked. It's genius!!!!

  • Let's get a gay intro and out on the best television theme ever... faggots

  • ITV4 in the UK is running the whole series at the moment and the images are superb and crystal clear.

The episode shown yesterday (Free For All) was so good to see on a widescreen. There was great acting from, of course, Patrick McGoohan also Kenneth Benda, Eric Portman and Rachel Herbert.

  • Hey Gang; AMC is currently showing the entire Prisoner TV series on its website. So if you are ready to watch all 17 episodes, go for it. You have to view only 2 commericals per episode. Be Seeing You.....

  • Rachel Herbert (though she only succeeded Eric Portman for a short while on the script).

  • There can't, sadly, be many of the No. 2's with us now.

George Baker, Derren Nesbitt and Peter Wyngarde are three to mention. I'm trying to recall others.

  • Interesting how those tower blocks appear opposite the prisoners house when they are not there as he drives down the street....

  • @langley2205 - If you watch the clip again, you'll see that he's not looking out into the street where he arrived - the front door is behind him...

  • "I AM NOT A NUMBER, I AM A FREE MAN!"

  • Thank you for posting this video!

  • This is the first time I have seen anything from this show, apart from the comic book sequel 'Shattered Visage.'

  • @Eligius4917

It's just come back to free-to-air television in Australia, on 7Two. I read in the Nineteen-Eighties that an Australian television station tried to buy it for a repeat run, but the producers said they didn't want Australians to see it for some reason.

  • @Eligius4917

Well Australia is kind of like an 18th century imagining of the village. Only we have sharks rather than giant floating balls.

  • @mrmootheirrev One thing you don't have in Oz, is a cricket team.

  • i don't get the story of the new one. whats with the white orb. and why is he there. and how goes he get out of it if he can. what is he there for. and what is he meant to do there. coz the new remake running now on ITV 1 is very confusing. and i can't get my head round it

  • You can Download this Search google for 'TheNewsBuzz"

  • Clipped off the start.

  • manoman was he a real SOB in Braveheart. haha!!

  • This is the real deal! Forget the new pointless remake!!

  • I am not a number, I am a FREE MAN!

  • Of course it was the sequel to Secret Agent and one of a number of great Brit surreal spy shows of the era including The Avengers.

  • Correction: It was the sequel to Danger Man.

  • Great show. My dad still has every episode on tape, Me and him used to watch this a lot when I was younger years ago and it is still a great show to this day, it is practically one of those shows that will probably never get old or in other words "a timeless classic" . I am now in the process of puttng every prisoner episode(40th anniversary restored versions, which is of great quality btw) + extra's on dvd's for him because the tapes that he has are showing their age and are wearing down.

  • does not get any better!!!!

  • Man, that talking at the end is ANNOYING!

  • @thecheesefactor Yes, It's always what happens when people think they're more important than what they're supposed to be doing.

  • @thecheesefactor What do you mean annoying, it's hip!

  • IRON MAIDEN!!

  • The show was so far ahead of its time. Deep on many levels. Patrick was so good at it. His diction, delivery were astounding.

  • Yes we are now living those days under the = The World Order so the show was 40 years ahead of time

  • filmed in Portmerion, Wales

  • @funkmasterjee Amazing place to visit, as you walk around you can feel just like No.6 :D

  • It's amazing that the only sound effect is the poison gas coming through the key hole! No desk thumping or brakes scretching, just: ssssssssssssssss. How spy conspiracy show is that?!?

  • Glued to this at the age of 10. Never thought it'd make a re-appearance 40 odd years later - to view on demand. That's like an episode in itself.

  • 'composure' LOL

  • The musical composure for this show just died yesterday. Very sad :-(

  • This famous Prisoner intro makes me miss Patrick McGoohan all that much more.

  • Now, it's on BBCAmerica Friday nights. And while I've seen most episodes and it "looks" interesting, I can't get into it - too tedious.

  • I'm confused, I remember an opening sequence with a man being chased along a beach by a giant rolling blob. 'I am a free man!' he shouts. (Evil laughter VO in response.

  • Yea, so do I, LadyD.....can't say that I miss that dopey ball, though (*_~)

  • What you remember is the second part of the opening credits.Enter "The Prisoner Opening Sequence" Posted by Mayhemmers to see it..Evil laughter courtesy of Leo McKern. For LadyDiazepan.

  • Come on, post the rest of the original music....

  • This was a good show. For only one season you had the begining and end of the story. It didn't drag on.

  • Where's the rest of it? There's more to this opening sequence.

  • Holy cow, I remember when I started watching this show, only because I had liked that smokin' theme song!!!

  • NUMBER NINE

  • Love this show big time have the DVD box set, The music is fuckin ace as well

  • I just started watching the series, I LOVE IT!!!! I heard AMC is making a new series, hope its up to par.

  • Yes, I hope so, too. The Prisoner is played by Jim Caviezel who played Jesus in the Passion of the Christ, and Ian McKellan plays No. 2.

  • This is like the best show evar!

  • god speed No6

  • I dug out my box set.

RIP Patrick McGoohan - actor and individualist, who snuck existentialism into suburban England through a spy adventure show.

Whatever foul new technique was used on him, he kept his self intact and wouldn't give in, even though he could never escape. all the best memories cheers MARTIN

  • Whoa. I just searched this to listen to that great theme. DIdn;t know he passed away. I knew he was quite old. Astoria boy he was. RIP Pat.

  • RIP - Pat McGoohan -- number SIX--

  • R.I.P. Patrick

"The Prisoner" was always an inspiration, full of a dark humor, yet always keeping sight of the message of our individuality and humanity

  • The 60's London-heaven on Earth!

  • RIP Patrick. Enjoy the rest.

  • R.I.P Pat McGoohan

  • Just totally numb and sad :(

    Number Six has died :(

  • R.I.P Number Six.

  • I am not a number!

  • The best ever programme on TV.Pity the final episode couldn't live up to the previous ones.

  • I was a fan since I first saw it (June 1, 1968) as a 5 year old boy in Chicago.

  • with the intention of interaction and conflict. I believe this might have been HAMLET with the melancholy Dane having a multiple personality disorder, However I have come to believe that it is the spy coming to terms with the conflicts and injustices of his profession to gather the strength to make a fundamental change (resignation) in a grossly overextended and dramatic way.

  • It was a very complex and frustrating story for everyone concerned, I hear... Even for Patrick McGoohan, George Marksteinn and their cadre of writers. McGoohan has even admitted it.

I think it was a multilayered story, with the main story being that of the conflict between the ego and conscience of the British spy in question taking the form of an overxtended Greek chorus, in which I mean EVERYONE AND EVERYTHING is assigned a number and a person to inhabit its significance

  • please change your description....number 6 never adopted the name "the prisoner", that was just the name of the show...we never learn his true name

  • This Show aired on ATV from 1967 to 1968 & also on CBS-TV June 1, 1968-September 16, 1969 for 1st The Summer Replacement for "The Jackie Gleason Show-The New Honeymooners Program" on Saturday & 2nd The Summer Replacement for "THE RED SKELTON HOUR."
