The amount of oil we would find in ANWAR is a mere thimble compared to what the rest of the big produces supply us in Central Am./Africa/M.E. So given the environmental effects + the additional costs to transport said oil southward, I say use the money to build some nuclear power plants in the lower 48 instead, or something more likely to benefit the rest of us down here. Besides AK gets more federal money per capita than ANY other state in the U.S., why do they need a dime more for drilling?

The amount of oil we would find in ANWAR is a mere thimble compared to what the rest of the big produces supply us in Central Am./Africa/M.E. So given the environmental effects + the additional costs to transport said oil southward, I say use the money to build some nuclear power plants in the lower 48 instead, or something more likely to benefit the rest of us down here. Besides AK gets more federal money per capita than ANY other state in the U.S., why do they need a dime more for drilling?

Excellent points! I heard on the radio, a few days ago, some conspiracy theorist claim that Ameircah oil companies promised Arab countries to leave American oil resources untouched in order to drill in those countries. The conspiracy sounds feasible to me!

Great stuff Louie. And to all who talk about alternative energy, I only will say this. When you take the shackles and chains of the oil and other energy companies, that are chomping at the bit to use their new technologies, they will find the way on whatever energy source is possible. Wind and solar aren't ready yet, they aren't viable yet. But the companies in this country that are demonized day to day, will be the answer to our energy independence, if you TAKE THE GOVERNMENT SHACKLES OFF!
