  • Why can't people just focus on the performance and the music. There is always a critic. I personally love this video.

  • misspelled his name... should be Roy Whelden

  • you playing is lovely, great interpretation, great sound.

    thanks for posting.

    best regards, haim.

  • Thank you for your performance that is all at once lugubriously reflective and a birdishly chirpy loquatious.A beautiful balance and contrast of elements rhetorically.

  • Very good music, very good viol player, lovely camera angles, but a horrific typo at the beginning: "Voila da gamba". Never mind.... thanks for the upload!

  • Oops! Yes, you are correct, thank you! Everyone, the opening credits should read "VIOLA Da Gamba..." bummer :(

  • So sonderful video!!!!. Cheers!!!; ~Sergio.

  • 5 months ago I listened to this and commented on it. I have got this amongst my favourites and felt compelled to comment on it again today after having another listen. It remains as beautiful as 5 months ago!

I don't regret having favourited this wonderful video!

  • 3 months ago I read your comment, and today I had to come back to see if it was still up here! And you know what?

    IT IS!!ª

    lol

No offence , I'm just in a stupid mode...

  • This comment is from 5 months ago..Today (january 20th) - when we all know Obama is the next president- I had another listen. I must say I keep coming back to this video.. The inauguration is certainly interesting.

Who would have thought that Obama would win 5 months ago..

  • intimate indeed ... :>

  • Roy, that was thoroughly enjoyable and very nicely played!

  • LOvely stuff but the camera angles are bloody silly...why can't we just see the chap playing the gamba?

  • Hi Max,

Since this isn't for BBS or PBS, I made the conscious intent to film him in the dark. The point was to focus on the intimacy of the musician with his instrument, and to keep him somewhat anonymous.

I like your comment, it means that that I hit the mark :-) Sorry you find it silly, others enjoy the close-ups. You can't please everyone, I suppose.

  • @333Spiral I like the choice of camera angles. And of course the piece and performance are great.

  • I'm confused...

Does the sound just not quite match up with the video? Or was the sound later dubbed in with a different recording? Because A lot of it does not match up with what I'm seeing...

  • Roy played to a CD of his, but as you can imagine, sometimes ones performance is not exactly like the rest, so I got as close as I could at the time. I would probably edit tighter if I were to redo this, but onward and forward. Good enough for Youtube, I would say.

  • Lovely...

  • What is a 'voila' da gamba?

  • you know she means Viola da gamba :)

  • beautyful playing.

  • Its Beautiful not 'beautyful'

  • thank u ,thats what I meant.

  • And it's thank YOU, not thank U

  • rite again...
