  • Err, Japn.

  • How do you make an officer? I got it on the pc and I can't figure out what to do.. I got the english patch but it says Ho Ten Nic at the very top and Jnam or something.

  • @Vilemk0 This video was nothing more than a bauble for my subscribers; my playtime has exclusively been with the PS2 version, so I can't really help you. However, looking over my video, there's a clearly defined "Character Editor" line in the options. Presumably, if I were to install the game and run that English patch again (if I could find it again), then that's where I would go to create an officer.

  • @GrimithR Well I downloaded the english patch and it hardly changes shit. Can't read half of the options so it's unplayable unless someone can tell me what [Ho] [Ten] [Nic] [JAPN] means.

    Too bad.

  • @Vilemk0

there are a lot of things unchanged, however if you have played a lot of the ps2 version you just know what to do, all the patch does is just change all commands to know what they do.

[Ho] [Ten] [Nic] [JAPN] is basically family name, middle name and given name (maybe not in that order) and [JAPN] is just the full name.

  • @slayermaster006 I haven't played this game in years so that's why I have no clue.

Ps2 is long gone. Ty for the help.

  • Grimith have you ever tried the game Race into Space :)?

  • it spelt Dong Zhou wrong =/

  • Three kingdoms fan, eh? Neato.

  • Anyone who's played the ps2 version knows that just by looking at the video that the pc version is much better..so WHERE DO YOU GET IT???

  • actually no...ill take that back...as good as that would be...like i said they wont do it. But what i would really like to see...is a mix of ROTTK and DW series. It would be just like this when playing the overview and all..but when you got into battles...you would decide on a plan...maybe have your generals each offer different strategies and you pick which you like the best...then when you enter into battle...its DW..where you are actually fighting the battles..maybe making commands on the fly

  • @Shadownian I dream of this...

  • i so wish they would make an official release of this in the U.S. for pc. This looks so much more like the traditional ROTTK games...rather than 11 that took it in a new direction that i couldnt stand and felt like somebody just sucked the fun out of. It felt more like work than an epic adventure like the rest did. And think..as good as this looks...imagine of they released it with updated pc graphics now...it would be epic!...but i know...itll never happen. Koei has gone way downhill...

  • will i dowloaded it ans intssled it but i think it doesnt work on windows 7 :(

  • @LuBu2012x No, the game runs on W7 systems. I recorded this video on Windows 7. If you check around on the internet, though, you may uncover tech support. It's been so long now that I can't help you.

  • I love this game so much while im on PS2...But i cant find pc version... Does anyone can help me with it.... If u got the link..Do u mind e-mail me??? or send me a msg..thanks

  • lol coco pebbles.... hey GrimithR do u still follow romance of three kingdom?

  • @Jay72288 Not really, no. There's a new one coming out some time in the future. The game looks promising. That's about it.

  • i got that game but idk how to install it :(

  • I bought the PS2 version. I am serving under a created Oath brother but he never seems to get involved in anything. Will it just take some time or do I have to start all the drama?

  • @Calinks you have to accept a role in defeating a force in a castle in otherwords take over a castle other then your first get a prefect in one and more or less there will be alot of battles eventually

  • RTK7 was the first rpg strategy RTK game by KOEI. RTK8 was a revision of 7 and 9 is more like RTK 11. I liked the RPG element of RTK. Suffice to say I never had the PC version of RTK10. I see from the video its slightly translated. Looks good, but I don't know Japanese. So I'll be stuck with whatever games KOEI decides to translate.

  • I love your laugh, Cao Cao

  • Beautiful game. This game has inspired me to make my own video game of the same style in a different culture's history.

  • damm this game is awesome then i had my ps2 i played it for like a year or two it was so awesome :) i think i know chinese history better then they now :D

  • so whens the lp grim grims?

  • @dowdpride1 I will now revive your old query in order to say, "Haha, good joke." More seriously, I think MysteriousJG will soon be doing a run-through of Romance of the Three Kingdoms X for the PS2. He's your best bet.

  • @GrimithR thanks for the pro-tip! i wish someone would do a runthrough of 6 or 7 though.

  • @dowdpride1 Didn't... I... play Romance of the Three Kingdoms VI? I'm pretty sure I did.

  • @GrimithR no, 4 and 6 wasent it? i dont think you have done 7

  • @dowdpride1 Exactly. You said you wish someone would do a runthrough of 6 or 7. I've done VI.

  • @GrimithR oh sorry. brain death there. but yeah, 7 and 8 are my favourites out of all of them.

  • @dowdpride1 i own number 7 i will do a run through it if u want

  • @bluediamondwarriors5 that would be pretty sweet

  • @GrimithR If I had to wager a guess, I'd think that would be something he'd save for his return to the U.S., in which case it'd be mid to late summer. But he got a fancy-pantsed new laptop, apparently; maybe he's hoping to do it that way.

  • @dowdpride1 I've got X working on an emulator and my laptop. I need to off-camera through the game to unlock skills for created officers and some created officer portraits, and then I can start an LP. (PS2 version, though.)

  • @MysteriousJG sweet! can i be an officer?

  • @MysteriousJG .

MJG I have a save file for the pcsx2 along with all unlocked portraits, skills, all portraits, basically 100%. I will be more than happy to give them to you if you want to get it started quicker.

  • I love this game, is it free?

  • Rotk 10 rocks. Is it free?

  • It is common and in my opinion Romance of the three Kingdoms 8 is the best RTK game of all time :3. It's has the coolest RPG elements/ creator character IMO.

  • Where did you buy the PC version? Or can it be downloaded anywhere?

  • @FellOutKid18 To my knowledge, there's no official English translation of this game, and it's not sold in North American markets - providing that's where you live. If you want to purchase this game, you've got to go through Asian channels, and that can be pretty pricey for shipping.

  • @GrimithR which is ur favourite Romance of the Three Kingdoms?

  • @GrimithR I have an english version of this game in north america on playstation 2

  • how many hours will this game take?

  • @otacon451 Matters what you play. For my RTK8 games they can go up to 100 hours for one game if I play a Player created officer starting in one spot :3 I would say around 60 hours is a good average game that is not getting assassinated/ganked/sick/dieing/etc. But i suggest if you like RTK games get multiples. Many people say that one of the best is RTK8 and I really do enjoy. Get as many as you can and read up on all them to find the one for you.

  • @monkeyman123321 thanks for the advice.

  • hey would u do a walkthrough of this game if asked because i think it is a good game

  • @bluediamondwarriors5 he said rtk 6 would be the last rtk game to play :(

  • @MrZimJimSlim dang it maybe one day i will do it for the fans of the series

  • Hey does anybody know how the create officer page works? when i get to the page it won't let me click "ok"

  • What patch do you have? I have a translation patch for the expansion kit and it was no where as good as that. Did you get it from the kongming.net/10/english/ website?

  • hey i got a question... how do you have children in this game? i managed to find an npc wife but i dont know where to go from there...

  • @hahaha01357 It's been a while since I've really played RTKX, but I don't think you can have children while actually playing the game. I think the wife's just there as some sort of ornamental piece.

  • @GrimithR oh no i got it. You just have to keep talking to her and wait. I can't understand the words but a few game years later, there will be an event where you either get a son or a daughter. Currently, my character has a son. I do wonder if you can get more than one children though.

  • @AbelGomez1987 whoops! I put my foot up my butt with that comment! my bad! you were speaking english so I assumed you were playing the PS2 version lmao

  • @hahaha01357 you make a created officer under your age of the character and assign him or her as your son or daughter the wife is more or less the same with less strict age requirements

  • 189 is the best scenario to start in IMO, on ANY rotk game

  • 9:27 u wish he were real so u could rip into his asshole right? lol

  • Oh by the way, i did order the game, and i wanted to know, if you could set family and friends like in 8

  • You can't forget 8 in your favorites hahaha Thats the first one i played, i like how you play multiplayer and whatnot, and how you can marry i suppose :l

  • hahah cocoa pebbles xD nice vid i like it

  • Just so you know the game is in Japanese, not Chinese, sorry but it's a pet peeve of mine.

  • @Gekishinken Apology unaccepted.

  • @GrimithR just to let you know i got english version of the game before.... now i lost it,, trying to buy a new one but dont know where can i... wish i could download it

  • @Gekishinken The game may be japenese, but the context of the game is based soley around ancient Chinese history

  • how can i get this game on the pc ?? pliss help me a little bit.. i lov this game

  • So I got the PC version and used the translation patch, but for some reason, the game won't let me make my custom characters.

  • Wow, that looks really impressive indeed Grimith. It's always a shame when great games like this, don't get translated completely and we have to wait year(s) for fans to get to it... and even then not all the time...

  • whats so good bout this game compared to other strategy games?

  • Are there any way to play this if I don't physically have a copy of this game? I really want to play this.

  • @SwiftJTech You should use a search engine like Google for more information regarding how to purchase the game.

  • @GrimithR If I use the search engine, It is mostly filled with Ps2 copy of the game and I would rather get a pc copy and I can't find that. Also, I don't really have a budget to go with.

  • @GrimithR also. Is the game english?

  • @SwiftJTech try ebay

  • @nevin221221 how can he get it for free?

  • I have Romance of the Three Kingdom XI but I noticed that that game doesn't allow you to control one person but only as a ruler and this game allows you to. Yet, I don't know where I can get this game as it not in local stores. Please reply back

PS: Are there a place to download it for the Pc?

  • i am trying to get this game in store but cant even get it no where... i had it before and it was really fun but it dont work no more,, so i am trying to buy a new 1

  • hey you should do a walkthough on this game its a great game

  • Still, happy memories. The menu screen music is pretty much my favorite theme in any video game I've ever played, as short as it is.

  • ...Now my problem is I can't advance without leaving my city open to attack. But because I have crossbows and towers, and the sense to stay on the castle wall, Wei cannot retake their city no matter what they throw at me. I wouldn't be surprised if I killed a million Wei troops defending that city with barely any Shu losses. I realized I would eventually win by just killing off the populations of all Wei's nearby cities, but it was too grim to contemplate and I set the game aside.

  • So I played this once with a created Xing Cai from Dynasty Warriors 5 (shut up) because I thought it would be funny if the squeaky-voiced girl conquered China. And by the time Shu is on it's feet and ready to challenge Wei, I outrank everyone, even Zhuge Liang. So I get my own city on the frontline, and I invade a city in Wei territory and...the game stalls. I'm still connected to Shu in the west but I've got Wei cities to the north, east and south...

  • this is the one i have and i never beat the last scenario the one u unlocked

  • any chance of an lp of this?

  • I would love to watch a LP or LGWI or anything involving this game this series this awsemoe part of history.

  • Ps2 emulation has come a long way, if you own a ps2, and have the game, you should be able to run it through your computer's drive with little difficulty. 'pcsx2' is the emulator I use, and it shows 8-11 of the ROTK games as being fully playable. Some of the plugins can be a bit difficult to mess with and get working, but I figured I'd mention it as an option.

  • @Larryihatechu Yup, I've got PCSX2 0.9.6 on my computer, though I haven't used it for a while; according to this date stamp, it's been fourteen months since I've bothered. It's not a question of whether I can play them on my computer, since I can, but the emulation is incredibly slow and doesn't look as good as a PS2. Even if I were to grit my teeth and ignore it, I highly doubt my computer would be okay with running that along with a screen recorder.

  • Even looking at screenshots of the PC version of Wall of Fire versus console, the interface looks not only easier to use, you are also provided with way more information at your fingertips, like always seeing the big map, and all information on an officer being visible on the same screen without having to scroll/push buttons.

  • ... why is it that western game developers avoid the history of China like it had ebola or something. While I loved the first one, what do we need a second Shogun for, when there's a treasure cache like the three kingdom period, and other parts of Chinese history, to explore?

  • nothing to say really just thanks for the video Grim

  • I would watch a LGWI of this ..it is so .. beautiful.

  • I can tell dramatically during this video that you are like me when it comes to this historical genre. I highly recommend that movie to you again. If you have netflix, you can stream it. It is worth it. . You will sit on the edge of your seat the entire movie. That is my promise good sir. Just Google search Red Cliff (2008)

  • @ioaz81 I don't know, man. John Woo directed it. I'm not sure I could handle the mental strain.

  • @GrimithR Trust me. I have watched it 5 times....my cousin who hates everything walked in...saw it...and instantly sat down and watched the movie with me and didnt say a word. He did not even get up to use the bathroom. Just clear time and watch it. It shows a lot of the story line from the novel. Cao Cao is portrayed awesome in the movie. Also..its subtitled. Just to forewarn you :)

  • @GrimithR Ah..! I watched that, it was a great experience..

  • It was always kind of a bitch how only Cao Cao has access to the Qing Elite units. That said, this game is fun as hell; one of the best 10$ I have ever spent.

  • @ZodiacLights Well, other forces could get access to them as well, if they capture Cao Cao's cities. But it's unlikely that the computer will even beat Cao Cao (as he just completely steamrolls over everyone), but at least if you're playing as a ruler other than him, you can still get them.

  • The game itself is quite a beautiful piece of work, but the AI is perhaps the weakest in the entire series. ROTK VIII and IX have essentially the best AI in the series.

Either way, it's nice to see a video about this with commentary.

  • @Kisk79 Unfortunately, I agree: the AI is incredibly weak. Both allied and enemy AI suffer in this game, and the game becomeslaughably easy when you launch regional campaigns and roflskates over everything.

Personally, if I want a challenge, I'll just go play the first one. I'm so used to all of these shiny options and tools at my disposal in the later RTK games that coming face to face with the outdated interface and the layout of the original sends me into system shock.

  • @GrimithR I'd agree with that. Though I've not met many people who have played the first one. I tip my hat to you.

Also, there's some modding going on for RTK XI. Some users at the Koei forums have managed to figure out the hex codes for the game and are creating their own scenarios and other officers from different Chinese dynasties (Tang, Song, etc.) If you're interested in that, you should check it out.

  • I think there is an accessory for the ps2 that let's you connect a mouse and a keyboard to it. And there should be a way to record ps2 games. And btw Grimith ROTK 4-6 was also released for the PSX. So if you wan't I can help you with the psx emulator ePSXe.

  • @Attonthedude I don't need help with ePSXe, but thanks anyway.

  • Omgah TEH FUTURE! Hey. It's uh... not ... in english. What. Yeah ... you should do the one that is in english.

  • if they put english in it..why not just make it all english?

  • @zerg2go Though I don't know the circumstances, I presume the unofficial translation team (as it's a fan-made patch) fell apart or lost interest in the project. It has been unfinished for several years now.
