  • I thought Ziegler's name sounded familiar. I just realized that I sit right next to her in my sociology class at Chapman University! She told me she was a swimmer, but man, she was pretty modest about it :)

  • @thatBMWkid your lucky to have met her.i would love to meet her,she is truly talented,a class act!!!

  • they have amazing lung capacity,i also think that Zielgler beat manadou due to this as Zielgler is the best female 1500m swimmer today so obviously wud make a big difference.manadou's freestyle became slightly untidy toward the end which wud suggest fatigue.lack of oxygen =poor technique=slower speed.Manadou is a natural sprinter i think, with amazing upper body strength that why she make an excellent 100m backstroker aswell.

  • laure manadou is without doubt one of the best freestylers.even though she lost this race,i believe she would have won if she didn't go out so hard.its a shame that she retired from competitive swimming

  • sensational, one of the best for sure. ziegler switching from 2 beat to 6 beat for the last 50m was the difference i think.

  • 58.9 1st 100 - lmfao

  • Very Close race

  • manaudou would be way faster if she kicked. especially in the 200 and 400. that is why ziegler beat her the last 50 and why adlington won the 800 because she held a 6 beat kick the whole way

  • Lol Zieglers a real farter! See these girls going out, farting for first and second place

  • where was adlington?

  • The hottest heat I've ever seen yet. Much can be learned from these 2 beat-kickers.

  • ziegler switched to 6 kicks in the last 50 put her head down with 20 to go and won the sprint, very nice.

  • im a distance swimmer for my high school...i wondered, what does it mean to "switch to 6 kicks?" i could use some pointers lol.

  • well, as u may know, there are a few different kicking rythms associated with a freestyle stroke. From the overhead footage u can see both swimmers kept to a 1+1 rythm for most of the race, usually referred to as a 2-beat kick, which is one kick per arm stroke. At the end ziegler switched to a 3+3, a 6-beat kick, which is done by inserting a triplet in the place of a single kick. So, instead of right/left u do right-left-right/left-right-left. Hope that helped :)

  • I know what they mean but its hard to explain but ill try ..what they mean is that they kick 6 times per each stroke but they were only doing 2 kicks per 1 arm stroke because kicking tires you out easily in distance, hope this helps

  • it means 6 kicks per stroke cycle. its called 6-beat kick. normally kate does a 2 beat

  • Ziegler is what? a farter?!?!?!

  • a fighter

  • USA ALL THE WAY!!!

  • c'est bien fait pour elle elle l'a bien chercher en plus elle pleure comme un bebe pffff !

  • YAY, Kate made the U.S Olympic team in the 800free and 400 free!!! I'm so happy 4 her!!

  • this is the difference between ppl who train hard and the others that just float around the true champions train hard

  • woow that was amazing

  • woow that was amazing

  • kate ziegler swims on my swim team... no lie.

  • one of my favorite races of the whole meet.
