Man this era was the shit! Hip Hop was actually good!! I remember rockin those old Maxell cassettes because CDs skipped when ya skated. Shit was simple and in my opinion, better then.
zoo york has chaged but i still lov it n its not an xgames bitch its jus not as raw or underground as it used 2 b but still it was better bak the. zy cant rip cuz legends never die
I can't and will not stop watching this part because I love THE BEATS that Busta rhymes over (the first part...no it's not Spirit mix but sampled from the same source). I wish somebody could just find that fucking beat and release it already! Gangemi is sick too, mad pop and styles for miles. Hope he's still ripping! Big up NYC
I miss these days with Zoo York. What a fucking sellout company, I still got an OG zoo york shirt in my closet from mid 90s, not that all over print fad shit.
This was the best time for skateboarding, hip hop etc. Stretch being referred to as Skinny Bones. Pretty hilarious. this shit is ill faded. Zoo York RIP
Oh man this takes me back! I started skating in New Jersey, the hood. Listening to Wu, Boot Camp, Heltah Skeltah, Keith Murray, Def Squad, red man, etc... Then i moved to florida, and all the skaters were rockers... man... the music they played irritated the fuck outta me.... then this vid came out, and it was just comforting.
oh my god. this video and in my opinion, almost any of the east coast skate videos are so much fun to watch! Thanks for posting! These old videos inspired me to skate when i was younger and still do!
I'm from Southern California. I can't stand the rubbish that comes outta my area. SF footage and (especially) Mix Tape and Eastern Exposure get me pumped to skate. This is raw, real skating. Dudes who skate in the streets and actually PUSH their skateboards. Fucking Ryan Hickey -- legend. It's about community, not how many stairs you can jump. NYC and Philly have always been the best. Still into Zoo York and the revival of Shut. And Gangemi -- legend too.
Gotta agree, southern cali is all about little skate "crews" driving from famous spot to spot "filming."
That's what sucks about Orange County/LA there isn't a thick urban jungle to skate through, it's mostly suburbs and spots are far apart. Doesn't help that most good spots are knobbed or straight BMX wrecked here now.
Thanks for posting this video. Robbie was definitely a standout skater. This is one of my favorite parts too -- right up there with Matt Reason's 411 profile and Lennie Kirk's part in Time Code.
we need a rerelease on dvd. its so refreshing to watch this again after all these years, especially compared to whats goin on nowadays: big handrails, 10+ stair stunts, that shit is maaad boring. muthafuckas doin the same shit over and over, adunit64 is rite, RB Umali is a genius, and this vid is a testament to that. whatever happened to style? sure these parts might feature more basic tricks, but the terrain, and the steez more than make up for it. this is indeed OG Zoo York, b4 it went pop..
Go and hassle RB Umali on myspace ha.Nah but he said to me his dvd burners broke at the moment but he'll get back to me asap and that itll cost me $24 international which is dooope.Cant wait till I get a copy. What you said is true man.Steeez is needed.
I was a high school punk when this came out. I remember feeling good because it was filmed in NYC. I skated in South Side Chicago and thought California was the only place sick skating went down. Much love to the Old school Zoo Crew. RIP Harold.
That backside 50-50 at 2:40 is insane. I'm willing to bet Huf and Mullendore are the only two dudes in the world with a shot at that (maybe the Butcher).
Im planin on a zoo york deck for my first real board (i still have a shitty walmart board. practice on that till i get a good board) would that deck be good for a beginner? Im only gonna be street skatin. very little bowl and park skatin...
Hey CracyKid69er. Wow what a surprise to see you here again!!! Yeah I totally agree that this music is like so super tight. This music totally rocks. It is NOT gay! This music fucking rocks! IT is totally HARDCORE and EXTREME!!!!! It is NOT GAY! This music is fucking EXTREME!! It is NOT GAY! We are NOT GAY! WE FUCKING ROCK! WE ARE TOTALLY EXTREME AND HARDCORE!! WE ARE NOT GAY!!!
one of the best skatevideos ever. it was always my favourite one after choclate la neauve vidas de paco ;) do you have the part with jeru the damaja d original for youtube?
