i agree with you mostly, however there is a distinction in Nationalizing something and outright theft, that distinction is just compensation. Also governments have a constitutional mandate to protect their own citizens over foreign contracts, maybe we should let him do whats good for his country and we do whats good for ours. gold is money and chavez knows this that is why he is trying to keep it within the country. we should do the same.

I'm only gonna say this one more time, HUGO CHAVEZ IS NOT A DICTATOR. Despite having nearly every media network in Venezuela spreading corporate propaganda against him, he still manages to get elected over and over again in some of the most open, fair, UN inspected elections you can get.
He's not "stealing the gold". He just thinks Venezuela should get more than 5% of the profits from their own resources. And it's not even a law yet, it still has to pass Parliament first.

Yeah, I kept on hearing about how Venezuela had some of the most open and fair elections in the world, and never heard any blasting from the Western media about their elections, so I was curious to find out what made them so free. It turns out that when you vote there, you enter your choice on a computer which then prints TWO copies of your vote, one of which you slip into a ballot box, and the other which you keep as your permanent record. Thus, computers and counters can't be compromised!

There is a state run media network, but most of the major networks are privately owned and are very critical of Chavez.
His elections are constantly inspected by the UN and are very open and fair, calling him a dictator is a flat out lie. His elections aren't landslides, he's won everytime with 56%, 59% and 62%. He even survived a US backed coup attempt in 2002 because the people remained loyal to him.
He's not perfect, but he has done wonders for healthcare and education.
