@pascalmv to make it in DFU mode u must press home button and power button for atleast 8 sec then when ur screen is black let go of power button then your itune will see your devce thingy lols ur device must be plug into your computer

@dantedante21 the only risks of it based on my jailbreak are that it may occasionaly crash springboard, and all you have to do is respring it again ( no connect to computer required )

@xXvaNillaYO Semi untethered allows you to use basic functions like phone calls etc when you've rebooted your device without plugging it in and booting up with RedSn0w eg if your device runs out of battery and you're no where near a computer. To get semi untethered I think you download an app from Cydia.

SOLUTION for me anyways ;)

STUCK AT 'WAITING FOR REBOOT'

Download the 5.0.1 IPSW [Google.] - Turn off iPod before opening redsn0w [what i did.] then go to 'extras' when you first open redsn0w and go to 'Select IPSW' then select the 5.0.1 IPSW, then go back, to main tab, and jailbreak [DFU, then go on as normal.]

REDSN0W HAS STOPPED RESPONDING:

Put redsn0w as compatibility to XP [some say windows 95 option works] and Run as admin, and hope for the best.

Sorry if this didnt work. Worked for me.

If you already have a tethered jailbreak on IOS 5.0.1 then you can download Corona 5.0.1 untethered in cydia and it will make your device have a untethered jailbreak.

This is faster and easier then doing another jailbreak and it saves all your stuff that is already on your idevice.

Tethered: When u have to boot up your phone, you have to plug ur iDevice to your computer, and open up Redsn0w, and press "Just boot" in Extras.

Semi-Tethered/Semi-Untethered: Means that it is a mix of tethered and untethered, so u can turn on your device without going in to redsn0w and do the steps it ask for, u can boot it on normally, but with limited functionality. which means that if u want to use ALL features, u have to boot it up tethered. i think u can place calls and sms
