I hate Laura Croft, she is a terrible character who is just about sex and her games aren't even that good. Although I have never played Femshep, its clear she isn't some sexual fantasy object for nerds to get turned on too and face facts that's all Laura Croft and the majority of female roles. Remember, an art can only be as good as the people who surround it and if we want gaming to progress as an art we can't make every female character a sex object, that's why I like Female Sheppard.

Adding to zaneonetwo's comment: If players want an african american shepard, they can make one! You don't have to use the default shepard. You can make shepard look like any race you like at the beginning of each game.
Everyone who just played male shephard. Go back to ME1, start a female character, and play all the way through to the end of ME 2. You WILL NOT regret it. Trust me.
@ChampagneGaming The voice acting on fem shep is about 8 times better--I'm really not exaggerating. It will make the story feel so much more alive and personal, because you'll feel like the main character actually has a personality. I didn't think a woman could seem like a leader of armies, but Mass Effect changed that.
Although Femshep is geared towards female gamers, I'm curious to know the real demographic, gender wise, of the two different sheps. I'm sure there are women who play as Manshep, I have always played Femshep from the first game on, and I'm a guy. I think Jennifer Hale has a more commanding voice and presence. And besides, lesbian romances are the best :)
@ZKY2 Stats like that don't mean much to me. The vast majority of the fan base is male and the majority won't play the female option regardless of the actors abilities. Actually 20% is VERY high for a military action game (barely an RPG) so that speaks very well of Jennifer Hale.
Besides that, all I have to do is look at the top 40 music charts to know that having a mind of my own is clearly better than going along with the lemmings.
I think if people are playing "ME" in a somehow "fast" mode and just for the shooting or want to imagine themselves as the commander Shepard are probably playing a male character...
But if you're realy in for the story then female character is the only way cause only Jennifer Hale's acting brings out the dynamic & the atmosphere of the whole story...

@ZachPackAttack I've played Male Hawke twice and he's really quite good. He's brilliant at "paragon", decent at "snarky" and not very good at "renegade". However Femhawke is brilliant at all three. I'm playing a snarky Femhawke mage right now and can't stop laughing. It's just too fucking hilarious.As far as the new femshep look, I can only hope her redesigned look for the cover art is going to make it's way into the game. They can also lose that bulky armor and "zombie walk" from ME2. :)

For a great example, look up the romance scene's on Youtube with Tali and Jack. Compare his acting to the female counterpart and that will really drive the point home. @bayushizero aye Bioware don't take risks when it comes to voice acting, if they worked before they work again, however i like Jennifer Hale as she seems to be the only voice actor who changes her voice to suit the character, the dude who plays anderson is the arbiter from Halo 2 + 3 and Sgt Foley in MW2 and out of all those things his voice is the same sure it's a good voice but i dont count them as voice actors

@allen13e Yeah, he is. In ME1 he wasn't that great, but in ME2 he was good and what I've seen in Mass Effect 3, he did good. I don't think that he's missing anything, he does what he needs to do and he does it well. Jennifer is good as well though :)

@allen13e Oh yeah he did improve from ME1 but that's not saying much. He sounds like he's reciting. It sounds nothing like someone actually speaking. For a great example, look up the romance scene's on Youtube with Tali and Jack. Compare his acting to the female counterpart and that will really drive the point home. Tali literally blows him off the screen. Sorry to belabor it but I'm just shocked such a poor actor got the lead in this epic game. I really can't flippin believe it. LOL.

their should be a side mission on me3 where you go to a ocean planet(completely covered with water) n you explore the planet(the ocean), in the ocean planet they'll be a dominant species, they'll be intellegent but not advance n knowledeable about mass relay n space exploration etc..., they'll barely b makin their first trip to space n questioning if lifes out there?, the mission could b about teaching them about the mass relays, new technology, etc...n also observing the newly discovered race

I hated Mass Effect 2 because the dwarfed everything about the combat (Ex: Only soldiers can use the Machine gun)
The Mass Effect 1 & 2 Story was incredible though (Ex: I thought, throughout the whole Mass Effect 1 story up to the end, that Saren was a complete a**hole then.... *SPOILERS*.... He turns out to be Controlled by the Ship)

@bayushizero aye Bioware don't take risks when it comes to voice acting, if they worked before they work again, however i like Jennifer Hale as she seems to be the only voice actor who changes her voice to suit the character, the dude who plays anderson is the arbiter from Halo 2 + 3 and Sgt Foley in MW2 and out of all those things his voice is the same sure it's a good voice but i dont count them as voice actors

@yezmanok13 but not to deny us life. the creators may hav thought organic life to b chaotic and destructive but necessary so programmed the reapers to allow life to exist 2 a certain point, right up 2 the point that they start 2 become dangerous in technological advancement. notice how both we and the protheans were just about 2 start research on building new mass relays ourselves when our times ran out? wats 2 stop us from eventually going beyond our galaxy?
