It's great to use movement with music, wherever and whenever possible. And while these ideas are inspired by some of what happens in a typical Dalcroze class, this is definitely NOT Dalcroze Eurhythmics, and shouldn't be confused with it. I don't think the people in the video are claiming to represent the Dalcroze approach, but really they should not even use the name, because it gives a very poor impression to anyone who doesn't already know Dalcroze. (I am a certified Dalcroze teacher)
I am into the second year of my certificate. this makes me so cross, this is NOT a representation of rhythmics but a poor impression . These people are rubbish. Please don't do these excercises and call them Eurhythmics.
Thank you for this podcast. It was very helpful. I've been using similar movement exercises in my classes with my Kindergarten, but through the use of pop music, since I cannot play piano any further than I IV V7 I chords. I will be using the pass the ball exercise this week. This was very helpful, keep them comming, and thanks again.
can you explain to me why this is offensive to you zazuetahernandez? there's nothing in this video that i haven't done myself in my eurhythmics class this semester. it may not be entirely sophisticated, but i an see how it could be used to improve internal rhythm in children.

You cannot seriously say that this is a rich exercice for the children, where is the music? where is the intention to help the student through music. I'm sorry but an "impro" using only two chords is not going to cut it.

I'm a student in the Institute Jaques-Dalcroze in Geneva, in our carreer we study 4 years of piano improvisation (now it's 5 years) pedagogy and solfege as our main subjects, body conscience is also important in this career. The mere use of the name Daclroze in this video podcast is offensive, these studies undetaken either in Switzerland, the USA or anywhere else in the world train music teachers of great level. PLEASE DO NOT REGARD THIS VIDEO AS THE WORK OF DALCROZE TEACHERS.
I'm a student in the Institute Jaques-Dacroze in Geneva. This video podcast is a shame. the use of the name Dalcroze as the title is insulting. Please do not take this video as an example of Dalcroze Eurhythmics.
i'm new to Dalcroze methods, so I don't really know one way or the other. Could you recommend a site where in your view, I could get some better video examples of Eurhythmics in action?
(no offense to those who produced the current video)
Hi, I've just found some very good videos from the Dalcroze workshop in Thailand given by Sandra Nash which you can find here in you tube, just look for: dalcroze, workshop, rhythm as your key words. (I've also got a few of my own) Cheers, Z,
This is not real dalcroze and they are not qualified dalcroze teacher.
Improvisation skill is poor & they just know a little bit things about dalcroze
but it is good to use music game for a class.
I hope the title of this video can be changed to "Music Games with Jordan and Heather"

Nice work! I'm writing a paper about Dalcroze now, and it's nice to see some dalcrozian exercises in practice!
(Those 7th-chords from 5:06 and onwards was...kinda funny:-) )
