Whoever said that "if we just listen and not watch the video, it's not good"... Honey, broadway is a third singing, a third acting, and a third dancing, and all stage presence. She has a great voice, maybe not up to par with some of the broadway regulars, but it's enough. Better than Corbin Bleu, who gave a respectable but not great performance as Usnavi. She's got incredible stage presence, which is really a huge part of broadway.

Aside from vocal preferences, let's be real. Mandy should be playing Moms, not 18 YEAR OLDS. Jordin is great casting for Nina.

Jordin Sparks has an amazing voice! But I feel like anybody who got their start on Broadway, like Mandy, is always going to sound better live than somebody who started out as a recording artist. Performers 0n Broadway have to really sing out to huge audiences everyday and make it look effortless, while Jordin is most likely used to singing with a microphone right in front of her face. Hopefully by doing In the Heights, her voice will become more powerful and stronger.

she's great and i applaude her for attempting this but i feel like its to breathy (no pun intended) she just didnt do it for me. i feel like theres something else that would be more her type instead of this. maybe rent or something but i still dunno if that would fit her either

i just was not blown away by this the way i am when i watch mandy.

her acting feels a bit forced and she doesn't kill the big notes. maybe this is all better now that she's on broadway doing this. i sure hope so.

Ok, for the record, there are very FEW people who I've seen that I traditionally enjoy more than the original cast. It's a known fact for ANYONE replacing a broadway show, but I think Jordin is going to be just fine. As for the singing, you guys have to remember that this IS a concert and that she's probably been straight singing for a good hour or so. Something that a principle actor on Broadway DOESN'T have to do. Both require energy, just in different ways... So don't bash her for it.

Broadway styled singing is very different from your standard pop song. It's modeled to support a vocally more tiring and tougher music composition that is driven solely through the action of the storyline. Although you are right. This does sound very forced. It makes me wonder if she will be able to have the energy needed to perform 8 times a week.
