Tighter mouth. Try to tune it a little better it was probably because of your cheeks. You got pretty flat with some of the notes. As for playing in general try and be more mellow with this song and intonation and dynamics make a big difference.

Holy crap... A week! I'm 62, have played trombone since 5th grade, played professionally in a major symphony orchestra for 31 years, and now I'm retired and play jazz & bebop... and LOVING IT!

But a week! Mackenzie, all I can say is... bravissimo! I can hardly believe you've come to this point in a mere 7 days. Keep at it, you have great potential.

@DaveWollenberg Hello Dave. Sorry it took a while to reply. When I made this video I was 15 and had been playing for about a week. I don't play trombone very often because I am usually busy playing other instruments for school and projects so I'm not sure if I've improved much. I think I've improved as a musician in the last year though so I'm sure some of my knowledge can be applied to the trombone as well. Thank you for your interest in my videos :)

@joncabello23 ugh your rude...I play the trombone and it's not an easy task okay, and it is very likely to be flat or sharp with the trombone because your slide isnt in the position exactly, she hadn't been playing for long and i think she sounds pretty amazing for how long she'd been playing...I know some people who have been playing for two years and they don't sound ANYTHING like that

pretty good job, just try and make your tone a little cleaner, and if you can add a little vibrato it'll sound a lot more impressive. two ways you can do that, try to form say yah as you're playing, or just move your slide in and out a little.

I have always had the same problem too, where a lot of favorite music is played with strings yet I have failed miserably with my own attempts to play them - except for bass which I am OK with. I ultimately prefer the brasswinds - trombone and French horn especially - and the various flutes.
