i was still really young in kindergarten or something and went to harrison elementary but my bus drove by cleveland every morning and i remember riding by the school the next day and hearing people talk about a shooting that happened there and the victims. the school was so quiet and creepy. i totally forgot about it until i stumbled on this. i was so young at that time but didn't realize how tragic it was.
Rann chun is my teacher now. i am so sad for him. thats why he is so strick. :,( if u are in mr. chuns class in 2011-2012 school year, its me erin. : (
i was in 6th grade, in the old portables at the back of the school, right where he walked in. i remember being so confused at first, we thought someone was drilling on the roof because our whole building was shaking. i remember the silence afterward. waiting for the police to take us to safety. but there is no safety in this world. i was fine until the 10th anniv and now i have ptsd, memories of it haunt my dreams at least once a month. RIP to the 5 innocents who died that day.
omg i remember this day when i was in first grade and two of my friend got shot, bleeding and crying in my class..i almost got shot myself i was so close, everything happened so fast i will never forget that day...R.I.P to those children that didn't make it
26 year old,"Patrick Purdy",who did the shooting that day.His main targets were Asian kids(those the ones who were killed). And the reason, because his father was a soldier during the Viet Nam War 20 years earlier(during the '60s).
Can't believe there are men like that with "hate" and negative thinking.
He was not a gangbanger shooting at rival gangsters or a bank robber shooting at chasing cops. But shooting at innocent little childeren that had nothing to do with that war.
If you live in California and are under 27 years of age.If your're wonfering why is this State so strict on firearms, well no thanks to the gunman he just made it worse for all law abiding citizen. This "SOB" bought a civilian version AK-47 afew days earlier before his shooting spree.Back then in Ca. there was no waiting period for long guns. Also in gunstores, there were many military looking firearms.Seen the 1984 movie,"the Terminator",remember the gunstore scene? It was like that back then.
I remember that day well it happen during our second recess before we get our lunch. I remember the car was on fire. The guy was up on the roof of one of the classroom when he started shooting. I see all the student was running and screaming. Two of the student in my class 1 boy and 1 girl was shot on the foot. We bang the door for our teacher to open the door. But the teacher didn't open the door at all.
I was there that day too. In fact I played in the area he first came out at, but by God's grace, I stayed in to finish my school work, and did not go out to play for recess. I can attest with Elizabeth in the vid that it did indeed sound like firecrackers. I looked out the window, and saw gunshots ricocheting off the ground, and a boy laying on the ground, and mass pandemonium on the yard. It truly was scary. God Bless the families of the wounded murdered children.
Even though 2 decades have passed since that awful nightmare, I send my deepest sympathies to all those affected. I was only 11 myself then, and still living in Rhode Island going to elementary school. I remember my 5th grade teacher, Mr. Birch talked about it the next day, as it was a very scary thing despite the fact that it happened 3,000 miles away from us. I will always remember when I first learned about it on the evening news that night. the 5 children who died will NEVER be forgotten.
I was there, on January 17th. I was 11 years old. I would have been on the playground had we not had a sub that day. I'm still haunted by the screams and the bullets, which we thought was the janitor drilling on the roof of our classroom. F**k Patrick Purdy, may he burn in hell for all eternity.
I remember this well. I lived in Socal at the time, but remember hearing about this, and the guys fascination with the military (also the fact that he kept plastic army men everywhere)...strange.
WOW!!! i remember this day...it happen 2 weeks after i transferred school...R.I.P. to the five students and i remember when Michael Jackson came to show his respect...
