He is all about the movement the body language and being, for my taste, a bit over the top. Bale is EXACTLY like the real Dickie. Regarding Christian Bale, in the clips I've seen so far of him in this movie it's one of the very few times I've watched a big name actor in a role and saw the character, and not the actor. He disappears into this role. It's everything from to how he carries himself and moves around, the weight loss and body, his accent and voice and speech pattern, even how he moves his head when he talks, just everything. I don't see Christian Bale, I see the character. Very impressive.
