These kids have nothing, to say negative remarks about the way that are forced to live is inhumane. We have choice they do not! Be gratefull for all you have in the u.s, because we could be living like this very soon! It inevitable, at rate the u.s is is running are system in to the ground.
Despite some of the negative comments, I think this film was really very beautiful. I know it's impossible to separate it from reality/politics of the situation, but these kids are doing the best they can with what they've got, and that's something worth promoting and treasuring.

This is really cool and inspiring as I enjoying skating myself so thinking about what it would be like if I was in an environment like Afghanistan and the difficulties that come with the surroundings if I wanted to skate. I'm not talking about the terrain either but mainly the fighting and poverty that exists. So I should think myself lucky.
Skating was my life as a teenager and I still have 2 boards - I am so glad that my Afghan brothers and sisters can enjoy this too. Made possible through the brave actions of many! Good luck rebuilding - I hope it is grand!
What a beautiful a prosperous country Afghanistan was back in the 1980's. My father used to tell me stories of the massive mountains, kind people, and flourishing cities of Kabul..and now? ruins, rubble, and rampage...what have these invasions led to? Nothing but disaster and distress for good-hearted people. It brings tears to my eyes, seeing what a great country like Afghanistan has come.

The park is a very positive contribution to the lives of the kids there, and will lead to a lot of great outcomes; but I felt like the film was overly biased; by making it seem as if the kids would have otherwise been doomed in their own culture, had it not been for the west introducing skateboarding.
@holwerdainc I don[t think it's about skateboarding. It's just one way of giving kids the childhood they lost amid all the fighting and horror. It could be football, painting, writing or whatever.I'm southamerican and I've skated for 20 years. When I was very young, skating helped me through tough times. Besides, it does not matter where skating began. It's fun, it's liberating, it's not competitive (skate contests are a fucking joke and bring out the worst about skating and riding).
@holwerdainc when you skate, you bond with fellow skaters. Even if you don't know them and just met. Saying it's a western thing It's like saying horse riding it's an arab thing. (there were no horses in america until the spaniards brought them over)

This is really cool and inspiring as I enjoying skating myself so thinking about what it would be like if I was in an environment like Afghanistan and the difficulties that come with the surroundings if I wanted to skate. I'm not talking about the terrain either but mainly the fighting and poverty that exists. So I should think myself lucky.

Skating was my life as a teenager and I still have 2 boards - I am so glad that my Afghan brothers and sisters can enjoy this too. Made possible through the brave actions of many! Good luck rebuilding - I hope it is grand!

What a beautiful a prosperous country Afghanistan was back in the 1980's. My father used to tell me stories of the massive mountains, kind people, and flourishing cities of Kabul..and now? ruins, rubble, and rampage...what have these invasions led to? Nothing but disaster and distress for good-hearted people. It brings tears to my eyes, seeing what a great country like Afghanistan has come.

The park is a very positive contribution to the lives of the kids there, and will lead to a lot of great outcomes; but I felt like the film was overly biased; by making it seem as if the kids would have otherwise been doomed in their own culture, had it not been for the west introducing skateboarding.

@holwerdainc I don[t think it's about skateboarding. It's just one way of giving kids the childhood they lost amid all the fighting and horror. It could be football, painting, writing or whatever.I'm southamerican and I've skated for 20 years. When I was very young, skating helped me through tough times. Besides, it does not matter where skating began. It's fun, it's liberating, it's not competitive (skate contests are a fucking joke and bring out the worst about skating and riding).

@holwerdainc when you skate, you bond with fellow skaters. Even if you don't know them and just met. Saying it's a western thing It's like saying horse riding it's an arab thing. (there were no horses in america until the spaniards brought them over)

what kid/person will just stare at the camera like they do in this film? why film an artificial exotica? too scripted to be good film. stupid music vids screwing director's heads in search of cool. it should have been about skates and what it does for the kids.. instead it had this sweeping statements in the voice of kids.. ridiculous
